East Care Urgent Care - Medical Centre - Howick, Auckland

Negative experience: DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!! Went there for severe chest pains, they sat me down for 4 hours with no pain relief waiting for the doctor, asked the nurses for help but they ignored me, then I hear the nurses talk about what hair salons they each go to!! Unprofessional, if you’re not there to help people then you should change your career. I finally meet Dr Xiaonong Li after hours of severe pain, she walks in without greeting me and with zero expression, I explain to her my symptoms she laughed at my issues and proceeded to prescribe me with over the counter pain relief that I mentioned multiple times that it wasn’t effective. Her response was that you need to take the medication for 4 to 5 days until it works. SO I HAVE TO WAIT 4 TO 5 DAYS BEFORE I GET ANY PAIN RELIEF Then I get an expensive bill for seeing a useless doctor for 5 minutes that prescribe me over the counter pain killers!! What a waste of my time.

Negative experience: I am writing this review to high light a level of racism I experienced at this chemistry. My 16yo boy was being treated for strep throat. The doctor told him he was low risk of further complication because he was nz European. While at the chemist he ask the lady pharmacist, why he was at low risk, she replied, because of colonisation. Last Thursday. We did not engage just collect our prescription and left.

Negative experience: Look i get that this place is somewhat under staffed and it’s stressful but the wait time is absolutely disgustingly long. i always come here when i have problems and it’s normally good besides waiting, but this time just set me off. I don’t care if this sounds entitled but i was so sick..tell me why i was told a 1 hr wait time then it becomes 3 hours whilst multiple people who came in after me went before me? it’s really annoying. Sometimes staff can be rude aswell on other occasions that i have come here, one time some kid puked everywhere and they left the puke for about a hour or more. Just feels like most of the times i’ve come here haven’t been the best so only go here if ur desperate seriously try avoid it if u can.

Negative experience: Visited with my son today who had a fractured foot. When we arrived we were told he was next to be seen. After 2 hours and 15 mins he still hadn't been seen by a nurse. Each time I asked there was one person or 2 people before us to be seen. Totally understand there are urgent cases when you attend an a&e however it would have been nice to be told when we were being bumped so we knew what the approx wait was going to be.

Positive experience: Best place to take kids during weekends and late hours.

Negative experience: It's NOT first in first serve. Those people who require urgent services should go to Hospital. It's unfair for me as I have to wait more than 4 hours and at the same time others only wait 1 or 2 hours.

Negative experience: I am writing this review to express my extreme disappointment with the service we received at your Howick, Auckland medical centre on Saturday, June 14th, 2025. We arrived at noon with a deep cut on my wife's finger. We were informed there could be a four-hour wait due to a high volume of sports injuries, which we understood. A nurse saw her after 30 minutes and confirmed a doctor would need to assess the cut for potential stitches. However, we ended up waiting over seven hours to see a doctor, who finally saw my wife at 7:15 PM. During our wait, we observed numerous patients who arrived after us being seen and discharged. When I inquired about the prioritization of emergency treatments, the staff explained that the triage nurse determines the order. I also asked why patients with seemingly non-urgent conditions, such as cold and flu symptoms, were seen before us despite arriving later. The responses I received were vague and unhelpful, especially after being told there were only a few patients ahead of us, only to find the number of patients ahead did not decrease as expected even after couple of hours. The staff at the clinic appeared careless and lacked empathy. They were dismissive of my concerns and made me feel as though I was an imposition. In my opinion, your patient prioritization system needs a thorough review. Implementing a numbering system based on the triage nurse's evaluation would provide transparency and allow patients to understand the flow, especially when true emergencies are prioritized. The authorities need to review these centres who are proving poor service to tax paying people. The level of service we received was truly unexpected for a medical facility in New Zealand. I would not recommend this medical centre for emergencies.

Negative experience: Arrive here before 8am for kid swollen face caused by high fever. Don’t get the chance to see the doctor until 12:30. The doctor here is helpless with limited professional skill. I keep telling them that the kid has very bad swollen face, which shall be a concern. Guess what I get from the doctor: I don’t know your kid before, so I don’t know if his face is swollen or not. Such a joke to call herself a doctor. End up paying 60 dollars, wasting whole morning, specially kid suffering whole morning with 39 degree fever.

Fantastic experience: Very thankful for Eastcare! Came in on Tuesday with sudden shortness of breath, mild chest pain, and rapid heart rate. Was seen within 15mins from a packed waiting room. Dr Lorraine Forbes was on and she was brilliant. I was first assessed by two nurses; Rhys, and another male nurse whose name I can't remember unfortunately. Lorraine quickly noticed swelling in my leg (I had lost feeling due a back injury the previous week) and ascertained I likely had a DVT. An ambulance was called which at the time I felt a bit extreme but a CT at middlemore showed I had "extensive PEs across both lungs" and the right side of my heart was enlarged and struggling with so many clots in my lungs. Literally could have died! I got told at middlemore some people don't make it to hospital. So yes, extremely grateful for the care I got from Eastcare.

Fantastic experience: Was fortunate enough to turn up.on a quiet morning, lovely staff through the whole process, especially check in nurse and Dr Forbes. Thanks team I needed help.today and you delivered.

Negative experience: Front desk ladies have No idea what they are doing, they should all be fire. Please go somewhere else for your health need.

Negative experience: Worse visit ever. The doctor could not speak English and said nothing is wrong with my 2 year child when as a parent you know something is wrong . She said she prescribed probiotics, pamol and nostril spray just to find out we have to pay all of that and the chemist warehouse people would not even help get the right one. Negative experience: Please be cautious if you see Dr. Cora Liu. My son recently tripped and sustained some facial injuries with bleeding. Dr. Liu prescribed an eye gel and advised that it could also be applied to the affected area. However, she did not inform me beforehand that the gel would cost $19 for just 10g. In the past, other doctors have provided effective ointments free of charge. I felt that she took advantage of our limited medical knowledge and did not communicate clearly or empathetically. This experience left us feeling disappointed and frustrated.

Fantastic experience: Great care given for my 3yr old by staff when we came in following a head injury. She was seen very promptly and throughly

Negative experience: 1 star is a stretch. Don't.waste your time or money here. Well worth the drive time to go elsewhere.. anywhere else

Positive experience: Thank you to the team at East Care for their support over the Easter holiday break. The wait time was only around half an hour, and the staff were courteous, informative, and supportive throughout. My doctor was able to diagnose my symptoms quickly, and the nurses were just as kind and reassuring. I really appreciated the care – thank you, East Care!

Negative experience: Bad service. Myself and a co worker came into east care at 10.45 after spending 30 minutes on the phone with Healthline after they advised us to head in to get a quick check as we’d been exposed to co2. We walked in and the women at reception turned us away immediately as they were “closing soon” as we watched a couple nurses behind her grabbing equipment to possibly check us out after hearing that we were exposed and then put the equipment down being shocked by the receptionist turning us away. The receptionist then tried to refer us to Greenlane. If you’re not going to take patients who have been told to be checked out quickly within your working hours, you should change your closing time. I think the nurse should make the call whether a quick check within your working hours is necessary rather than a receptionist getting ready to go home. It would’ve taken 2 minutes to see if we were okay as who knows if our condition could get worse. Disappointed.

Negative experience: This is the worst medical practice. The doctor just walk away without telling what is happening then the nurse was super rude also. The receptionist lady apologized but she didn't do anything wrong. I will never recommend this place and will be placing a formal complaint to the medical department as after looking at the reviews this seems normal for this site. They keep saying email complaint but seems like no improvement at all.

Negative experience: I wouldn’t recommend coming here for any eye-related problems. My boyfriend and I visited because we checked their website, which stated to come directly if there were changes in vision, including blurriness, spots, or flickering. One of my boyfriend's eyes was experiencing blurriness, and we were both scared. When we saw the doctor, she did nothing to help. The doctor we met did not speak English well, and we noticed her using AI to look up words. She didn't even use a flashlight to examine my boyfriend's eyes. Instead, she simply wrote down what we told her, printed it out, handed it to us, and that was all she did. It was a waste of money and time. Please don’t come here if you have eye problems.

Negative experience: Would give zero star if possible. Arrived at 9pm only to be told they aren’t taking patients that need the attention that I required. They could update their website site so that people select an alternative treatment option than driving 50km to a place that is shut, too busy or couldn’t care.

Fantastic experience: Good medical accident and emergency. Cpwe saw efficient staff and nurses and a competent doctor.

Negative experience: Very bad experience, my son is 1 yr old waited for 3 hours, after 2 hours wait, we asked how many patients in front of us they said 4, 30 mins later we asked again they said 6, but within that 30 mins there were 3 patients went into to see the doctor. We understand the wait is ranked by urgency, but please advise the patients on wait time. Receptionist attitudes didn’t seem interested to check how many patients in front of us ( maybe does not care) Nurse did not take temperature even we told her we came in because of high fever. Management team needs to address the issues closely, do not just blame on not enough doctors, not enough support, not enough recourses, if the door is open, please delivery better services. Don’t Waste taxpayers money or government funding.

Negative experience: Told to put a pillow under our 6month old when she sleeps by the doctor have you ever heard of save sleep and prescribed the incorrect pamol for her age.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant response to our 4yo who had a huge cut on the back of his head - seen by the nurse within 30min, doctor within 60-90min and returning home after 2hrs. Staff were all professional, friendly and responsive. A pleasant surprise vs the overloaded health system in London!

Negative experience: Waste of time. My husband unfortunately got involved in a car accident after 8.30 pm last night just down the road from this medical center where he was also assaulted. Shattered glasses from the car window cut him everywhere and some small tiny pieces of glass must have got into his eyes. Because of what happened he had to give police a statement of the event therefore I could only take him to go to the nearest medical center to check up. Arrived at the East Care Urgent Centre around 9.30 pm ish, the lady at reception was very friendly, they were made aware of the accident and she did inform us that their doctors had stopped taking patient already for the night however my husband could still be seen by a nurse so we waited for nearly an hour. We were then seen by this elder female nurse with above shoulder-length hair who appears to be Filipino. She asked what happened and did what she needed to do however she was just unnecessarily rude. All she did was blood pressure check then told us to go to another place that opens 24 hours because it was already after 10.30 pm at night and they were closing at 11.00 pm. When I asked whether they could issue a referral due to the accident so that when we go to the other place we could be seen by doctor, the answer from this lady was delivered in such as if to make you feel small. I might have asked a dumb question but still a health care professional should have shown more empathy and professionalism while she was at her job. Honestly we understand it was late she must have had a long day, whatever, however after dealing with an unfortunate event with possible small pieces of glasses inside your eyes no patient would want to waste time and receive some foul attitude from a random nurse. Also It would be appreciated if we were told from beginning that there wouldn't be anything they can do for us at this late hours and that they recommend us to head straight to Middlemore Hospital, as opposed to having us waited around for a pointless process.

Fantastic experience: My daughter had a nasty gash on her head walked into AnE at 10.15pm was pretty much seen straight away. Absolutely great nurse very helpful. The doctor was also amazing. Done a great job of sidetracking my daughter while putting in the stitches. Have been here numerous times with no complaints. Thank you AnE Botany

Negative experience: Bidding the front office receptionists/triage staff the KARMA they deserve. If they are doing right by the people they prioritize, they should have nothing to worry about right!!! So we'll wait until whenever, as long as their decision was right... if not, may they pay their dues in equal kind, as the people they mis-triage on the daily... KARMA can deal will the deserving.

Negative experience: Bullshit , they don’t even care for a 3 years old baby. My son has cut on his ear and when i asked if can be seen by doctor, asked for wait and nurse didn’t even look at wound, moreover receptionist are now deciding he is fine even though bleeding, a 3 and half year old baby! And after all stupid shit when asked for medical certificate, instead of us being parent , they decided that he doesn’t need a medical certificate for him wow! Really racism on another level , nice urgent care well done, being knowing parents can’t have another option in this area instead of being helpful they don’t even care for a child I truly don’t even know what to say about it, they say he is fine to know back to kindy in this situation and they decided that from our side. Negative experience: East Care Medical Review My recent experience at East Care Medical left much to be desired, especially during a busy weekend. The facility was clearly short-staffed, which became evident in the long wait times and the overwhelmed demeanor of the nursing staff. Unfortunately, this situation seemed to exacerbate their stress levels, leading to rudeness and short tempers when interacting with patients. It’s understandable that being understaffed can create pressure, but the lack of professionalism from some of the nursing staff made the experience even more frustrating. Additionally, this issue appears to stem from poor management and an inability to properly schedule staff to handle peak times. While the facility may provide decent care when things are running smoothly, the inability to manage staffing effectively makes it difficult to recommend East Care Medical for visits during busy periods. Management should prioritize better workforce planning to ensure both staff and patients are treated with respect and efficiency.

Negative experience: I am appalled and worried for the people who go to this facility for any kind of emergency. The doctor who saw my daughter not only couldn’t speak/ understand English very well but her level of medical knowledge or ability to communicate any kind of medical help, was what you expect from a first year medical student who was on the spectrum. She was more interested in Google and reading symptoms out about what my daughter was already being treated for by her own doctor, than the complication she was experiencing (having trouble breathing). I’m sure not all the doctors there are of this low calibre but is it worth risking it when you are really in need of medical help? FIND ANOTHER medical facility. Even if you can speak mandarin, this doctor is unable to translate her medical knowledge into what her patient needs. I’m sure she is a lovely woman but that’s not why you visit a medical facility for urgent help.

Negative experience: Most unhelpful Receptionist, lazy to answer the phone, but sit and talk about their personal life on and on. Even though you have an appointment you still wait for 2 hours to see your Dr. The Dr does not seem to interested, overall an absolute disgraceful experience - even the second time around! Most definitely won’t recommend it.

Fantastic experience: Fantastic service and care provided for a matter that required reasonably quick treatment. Treatment was timely and thorough. Very grateful to the team, care and treatment received. Thankyou everyone. I will absolutely use this clinic again as my preferred provider.

Negative experience: Absolutely pathetic. Hospital tells us they are closing soon and aren’t taking anymore patients an hour before closing time, not only that, this is called the urgent care unit, and we came here for an urgent reason. The reason for them not taking us even for the urgent reason. My brother, who had sustained the injury was a middlemore patient, (who had been already discharged) and for that reason, we had to take him to middlemore, a half an hour drive.

Negative experience: I visited this clinic for urgent prescription meds and had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Mourin Das. First, she was Googling my condition right in front of me, leaving it visible on her screen. Then, during the swab test, I saw her put the swab back into the plastic package instead of the test tube. Later, I found out from my GP that no swab test had been submitted. The most ridiculous part was when she started searching online for which medication to prescribe. I had to ask, "Are you Googling this?" She admitted she needed to figure out what to give me. I ended up telling her the name of the medication I needed, essentially prescribing it for myself. I paid $135 for a 15-minute visit, which felt like a complete waste of money.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at East Care Urgent Care. We cannot recommend this medical center, especially the doctor, who seemed inexperienced—almost like a trainee. We endured a five-hour wait while suffering from a painful injury, only to have our appointment cancelled. Despite not receiving treatment, they still demanded payment.

Fantastic experience: Had a great experience here! Came in at 8am on a Sunday for an ankle sprain, got seen by a nurse and an x-ray and then a consultation and ankle brace within an hour. Friendly and efficient staff :)

Negative experience: I went to this place on 03/11/2014 at 3.30pm with my daughter who had a bleeding wound on her head to get an emergency treatment. Upon reaching the reception, I was asked to complete the registration process via a QR code shown at the front. (Took myself to complete it 10 mins) After completing it, a male nurse attended to us and fed some information to the system. We were asked to wait at the lobby for the doctor’s call. Luckily, no once called us until 5.45pm. So without wasting much time there, we went to another emergency treatment centre and got the treatment immediately. At around 7.45pm, I received a call from East Care Medical Centre and said, doctor is waiting for us. After 4 hrs, was that the emergency treatment call? Worst ever service.

Fantastic experience: After a fall and an injury to my left arm I went to Eastcare Botany and I was thoroughly impressed with the treatment I received there from all the staff, receptionists, doctor and especially nurse Sharon who dressed my wound

Positive experience: This place is busy. Clean and warm staff. However they are always light on doctors so wait times are generally around 2 hours, regardless of time. The later in the evening, the longer the wait. Good service, but every consult feels rushed and not well thought through. Use if you need to.

Fantastic experience: I'm a "work in progress" with coming back from broken ankle, unexpectantly on 3rd Sept I had to call at East care for assistance, which involved a chat & guidance with a Doctor & nursing staff. I very pleased to say Nurse Sharon looked after me extremely well, so far, all is well, Thank you !

Negative experience: Worst urgent care ever. I've been there twice friday they said that I had hemorroid, give the treatment. Not improvement at all and monday develop fever. I went there again, they stick with hemorroids, even with the blood test result that clearly shows infection. I ended at Akl hospital tuesday, by myself I had an abcsest that wait for too long, had to had surgery. They never refer me to hospital, it was a clear emergency, even the nurse realice of that. They charge a lot, for check on google your symptoms.

Fantastic experience: Very helpful, arriv d close to closing time with my kid who was having an allergic reaction. They saw him quickly, stay extra to monitor him and went above and beyond. Could've easily turned us away and sent us to the hospital, but ensure we were looked after and treated. Given meds for the night as pharmacy was closed and given prescriptions for the next day. A very positive experience from doctors and nurses and admin staff.

Negative experience: Took my daughter there saw Dr C Davis and she was so rude to myself and my daughter and nephew. Made my daughter feel uncomfortable I was not happy with the care my daughter got. Pretty much told me I didn't know my child. We waited over 4 hrs just see the nurse. And we got rushed through by the rude doctor. I'm apalled at the doctors care of my daughter.

Negative experience: Horrendous attitude from the front desk, It was my second time here and first time alone so I don't know exactly how the booking in process worked the front ignored me completely until I eventually found the sign to scan a QR code, while sitting down I heard the front being extremely rude to another patient who wanted help telling very loudly that she couldn't fill the form out for him but her tone and hostility towards them was enough that me and another patient that came walked out, not comming back again I'll get my medical needs looked into at a different branch instead since the receptionist here are so bitter and rude

Fantastic experience: A lot of people on here need to adjust their expectations. Word of advice, if your coming here, be prepared to wait. You will be at the mercy of a system that prioritizes more serious injuries above yours, If an ambulance comes in with sirens and lights on, then be assured that your sprained ankle or whatever it is, is not going to be seen to before that person is seen to, even if you've already been here hours, that's just how it has to be. Get over it. Bring some entertainment, be prepared to wait. Anyway, I waited ages, put on some headphones, and listened to some tunes. Eventually, I got looked after very well.

Negative experience: Reception is really rude and unprofessional me and my dad came at 8 in the morning. And we meet the doctor 4 hours later my dad was really sick and it was urgent but the receptionist kept lying to us and said there's people infornt of us while in reality there were literally no one in front of us wouldn't recommend coming to this hospital.

Negative experience: Don't care about communicating with patients. Just expect them to wait patiently for 5 hours. Badly understaffed. Should remove 'Urgent' and 'Care' from their name.

Fantastic experience: Overall pleasant experience- receptionist, nurse, dr and pharmacist were all very pleasant and helpful. Arrived at 7:30am, Were a few people ahead of me so overall was done in 90 minutes start to finish.

Negative experience: The new login system with their tablet kiosk is ridiculous. You have to re-enter the same details like name and phone number over and over again. I selected "no occupation" for a child and it then asks to specify their occupation. It takes so damn long and then you're not entirely sure that you're in the queue as you wait for hours forcing you to ask them to check.

Negative experience: I would not have given them even one star if there was an option. Rude nurse and reception staff awaited to 3.5 hour and in the end left without being seen by a doctor ...as they kept pushing us back and kept telling us their are emergencies ....there should be a max time ...understand emergency but to a limit ....sorry but a third world medical system....

Fantastic experience: On the day we went for my daughter’s broken thumb East Care was understaffed. Within 2 hours we had submitted forms, been triaged, been x-rayed, checked in with the doctor and had a plaster cast on. Throughout, each staff member spoke to my daughter (she’s 7) as she was the patient rather than me. All communication was clear and easily understood. Awesome experience!!

Negative experience: The service was incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional. It’s crazy how the front of desk feel entitled to speak so demeaningly to others. Their service left me feeling upset and ruined my day. To top it off, they had the nerve to announce, "You do know it's $325 for non-residents," aloud If being insulted and belittled is what you're after, this is the place to go.

Negative experience: I would rate zero if I could, worst urgent care service ever, unprofessional front desk staff with rude attitude. Waste of time & money. Doctor & nurse inside are good, there were four front desk people only one was Okay, the others were rude and nasty. Don't go there unless you want to ruin your day. How can you hire someone like that to do public services? Just to make people feel worse by talking to them? Also I noticed some of them were definitely racists, if you are asian looking they will be worse. Why don't you just stay home if you can't do your job properly, no one want to talk to you or see your face like that.

Fantastic experience: My wife and I were visiting family from Australia. After rolling and ankle we attended East Care. The care and service was impeccable. 1 st class from the front desk, through x-ray Dept, the nurse and a very caring doctor who we felt knew what he was about. Our one criticism is that we think the x-ray machine needs a resonance upgrade as the pics were a bit cloudy with meatballs! It made it experience once referred to the hospital a challenge. Great work East Care, please stay human along with your expertise. TD and MD.

Fantastic experience: Came at 7am, it was 3 lovely ladies at the reception, all the paper work took only 10 minutes, got to the nurse in 15 mins, wait till 8am when the radiology opened, they took X-ray in 15 mins. The doctor invite me very quick. Great and what’s more important quick service, that’s what you need when you are in the Emergency clinic.

Negative experience: karen who works here would have to be the worst person to deal with she gives racist vibes. you should treat people the way you would want to be treated. waited here for hours for my son who had to get his sore glued together but that wasn’t important waited hours to only get seen near closing time. cause apparently my son wasn’t serious in her eyes.

Positive experience: Not bad. Usually long wait times when seeing the urgent docs. But when you need a doctor it's invaluable. Nice customer service.

Fantastic experience: East Care Urgent Care is one of the best clinics in East Auckland. My husband went there in November 2023. As he is a chronic asthmatic, he suffered extremely bad on the night of 20/11/2023. There were at least 40 patients waiting there but my husband only waited for a short period of time due to his oxygen level dropped below 86, why h was a life-threatening condition. He was then put into a wheelchair by one of the medical staff there and was taken into the emergency ward. A very young Korean lady Doctor examined my husband carefully and put him on an oxygen supply. She also referred him to the emergency department at Middlemore Hospital straightaway. Staff there were all very helpful and efficient. We would like to show our appreciation to the Doctor and all medical staff there. If you live in Botany or East Auckland, whenever you are not feeling well, we highly recommend you to get there for proper medical treatment.

Fantastic experience: I want to say a HUGE thank you to the team here. On Friday I called Healthline unsure what to do. I was told to go to an urgent care and then they would tell me if I needed to go to hospital. After googling urgent cares, this was the one with the better rating compared to others. So I drove here. When I arrived I had prepared myself for a long wait however that was NOT the case. I was greeted by a friendly team at the front, and within 10mins I was seen by a nurse, she was absolutely lovely!! 10mins later I was seen by a doctor. All up it took less than 30mins. I was told I came on a good day as usually it could be a 4+ hour wait. The doctor I saw was so so friendly and made me feel at ease and comfortable. I honestly can’t even fault the service I received. With our health care system under so much pressure, to be able to receive an amazing service is just awesome! 10/10 to this team of admin, nurses and doctors!

Fantastic experience: Arrived 8pm with a badly infected arm from a bee sting reaction. Front desk where fast, polite and efficient. Short wait before seeing nurse and doctor and collecting antibiotics and various painkillers from pharmacy next door. Overall very impressed with service.

Negative experience: Worst urgent care hospital I have been to. Not sure why they even call it urgent care when they send the patient back home well before they close. The receptionist are rude and lack customer care. The doctors dont care about the patients. Just seems like a profit generation institute. The standards are very low, so dont bother going there.

Negative experience: IF YOU’RE ABLE TO GO SOMEPLACE ELSE - DO SO!! Waiting 4 hours for a pee test (Pee sample they told me to come back and re-do) and still didn’t get seen is atrocious! And I bet they would still charge me $160 for it as well. Not recommended!

Negative experience: $160 for urgent care, doctor wouldn't help with any referrals or testing for a condition and the medication prescribed was not nearly enough to treat it. On top of that, having to wait nearly 2 hours to see someone for 10 minutes. Not sure what I'm actually paying for. No care for the patient. Go somewhere else.

Negative experience: Overall, if the world turn upside down and there is no place on earth to go to then you might consider this place. Emergency is a joke and dental Emergency is by appointment there is no sense in their service. Don't waste your time just go to another clinic or hospital

Fantastic experience: Husband and I went in a week ago with hand injuries due to snow mobiling accident, with GP referral.. The first visit was a bit scary as we had not need any medical care services for a long long long time. Once we got the initial registration completed and an appointment with the fracture clinic, things moved quickly. We would like to offer our sincere gratitude to the staff at the reception, all the nurses (especially Sharon who did a fantastic sling, and her calm caring professional and friendly manner) , the doctors (Dr Woodward and Dr Bentley). To the nurses and all the staff , we wish we could recall all your names and thank you personally. You all deserve respect and credit for the difficult job you do every single day. Negative experience: This clinic was the worst experience I've had in the past 10 years. I went there due to a neck injury, and the doctor's examination was quite rough, potentially worsening my condition. Additionally, the staff checked my personal details twice, once at the reception desk and again with the nurse, which seemed redundant and time-consuming. The entire process took six hours to complete, with 5.5 hours spent waiting without any updates or progress. This long waiting time was exhausting and frustrating, making the overall experience highly unsatisfactory. DO NOT GO TO THIS CLINIC!

Negative experience: Went into the hospital for a hand injury. There was a long wait time to see care (roughly 4 hours) just for the doctor to say I needed to strengthen my hand by doing simple movements/exercises at home. The medical bill was 100$. I am displeased with the service given to YOUR patients. Just an update 4 weeks later. My wrist still hasn’t healed it. Forgot to mention in the first paragraph, the doctors didn’t even bother touching my hand. The wrist movements they told me to do clearly didn’t help either because there is still minor swelling and pain. Definitely do not recommend going here. Unprofessional doctors.

Negative experience: I took my son who is with high fever waiting for 3 hours and saw 2 people skipped the queue in from of us. Actually I just went to check with the receptionist if my son would be the next patient after the first person who came later than us being called in. When the second later patient got called in ahead of us I went to the same receptionist to check and she said she didn’t see me. Ridiculous! Every one is crowed in the same space and I even hold my need for toilet. I have been to this places for 3 times through 6 years, every time I had terrible experiences. With only one option available at night time, I was angry and hopeless!

Negative experience: I had the most awful and embarrassing experience. I had various symptoms from kidney pains, ulcers and abdominal aches and Dr Forbes diagnosed this was constipation. It’s absurd that i would go to the doctors if this was the issue. The doctor did not try to understand or sympathise as i explained my condition and was insistent that this was the issue. To make matters worse, they charged $110 and the treatment was to just eat kiwifruit. On a positive note the nurse was amazing in her ability to show sympathy and understanding.

Negative experience: They need to improve receptionist service level and nurse also needs to improve their attitude and professionalism. I understand this is a busy emergency care. They are so many people when I came. But it shouldn’t be an excuse to have bad attitude and impatient. It’s way below average level of NZ care.

Fantastic experience: What happened to east care?? The service has gone from 5 stars to zero star! Note to self not to come back. Even if it close by!!! When people are in pain they needs help not told off. Not like they want to go to east care! So firstly, the doctor assumed instead of diagnosis the ear. Then making false note that I didn't listen to my family doctor when my husband called up, after he trying to book the ear clinic and the ear clinic recommended him to get in touch back with the doctor for ear drop and antibiotics. End result was pointless. Wish I didn't go to east care in the first place!

Positive experience: The only reason I gave 3 stars is because the nurses were amazing. We came in Friday night to get my son looked at. We got seen by a Dr Wong and a few mins before entering into the Doctors room, my husband had mentioned I hope we don’t see this Asian female doctor and I said why and he said it’s awkward as she doesn’t seem to know what she’s doing I was shocked and asked what do you mean she’s a doctor and he says if she sees us then you will understand. Well he was right and there was a lot that happened in that room which was very awkward including google searching in front of us, not sure if this common for Doctors but I had never witnessed it before. Then the one that really stood out was are you guys islanders ? I said yes and goes on google search proceeds to say because he is an islander and of his age he may have rheumatic fever, and that he would need to take a mouth swab, explains a few other things but to be honest after bringing up the race topic I was truly uncomfortable . I kept wondering how long has this lady been doing this job and does she understand what her job is, I think the icing on the cake when she asks me at the end what I think about her diagnosis and I almost said I’m here to get a confident answer about my son and yet your asking my opinion I just said we trust you as you are the Doctor but the honest truth was I didn’t truly trust her after how she dealt with us. We left got our mouth swab again with another amazing nurse. Then went to the pharmacy right next door. The pharmacist calls me and asks me about the antibiotics and I answered her and she told me oh well it doesn’t seem she prescribed the right amount ‍♀️ this again proves my point just imagine if we went to another pharmacy then what was going to happen I go all the way back to get the dosage sorted like no thank who will compensate me for my fuel for an error made by an inexperienced Doctor. The pharmacist went back to the Doctor to get it sorted and returned with right dosage. I write this review because I would like Dr Wong to be told that she needs to firstly maybe learn some people skills and also maybe sharpen her Doctor skills as well because this is real life and peoples lives literally hang from critical decisions you make. I hope she will improve on this because right now this is just not good enough.

Negative experience: If you have an injury don’t bother. We arrived at 8pm, they said that they have closed the queue but they will triage us and redirect to a practitioner somewhere else. My daughter smashed her fingers with a door, clearly she needed X-ray. After waiting 2 hours for the triage nurse that didn’t even touch her hand the only we were given was the option to call a doctor and come back the next day. I would expect them to be honest and send me straight to the hospital. We loose 2 hours that could be invested waiting in the hospital instead. 5 minutes in Middlemore and a nurse checked on her, gave her some pain relief and put us on the X-ray queue. Thankful she is under 13 and ACC and I didn’t have to pay anything.

Negative experience: Some of the nurses there need an attitude check. Yes it can be busy and stressful, but if you are being paid to do a job you need to do it properly.If you can't be bothered looking after patients dont work in the health care profession. Next time I will name the exact nurses and make a formal complaint about their attitude/behaviour and performance. For context this was for a visit last night (6 August 2023) for my child that was in sever pain. He was not looked after at all. I would give zero stars if I could.

Negative experience: Everyone there was pissed as the doctors picked every late patient as more urgent. Most of us are more than 6 to 8 hours there. They were also rude, even the receptionist and the nurse. They also threatened the other patient in pain to stay quiet or else they would call police. The end was that they only suggested going to GP even though we went in for Emergency Care. Will never go back and will not recommend it.

Fantastic experience: My second visit in a week. Very helpful caring staff! Reception ladies very cheerful, doctor spent time and nurse Sharon was amazing! She made a great job of cleaning & dressing between my toes & foot. Thank you so much.

Negative experience: Parents came in because there daughter swallowed a fish bone or a sun flower seed and the nurse was really rude to them and made them feel like they were dramatic about bringing there daughter in she looked about 3 years old they just wanted a peace of mind so they could sleep! They said their daughters breathing and was fine and the doctor won’t see them and to go home! To drink water and that she’s fine! How rude i feel sorry for these people! No matter the situation you don’t treat people like that at all! They were a nice family! But the triage nurse was growling them like there was no point bringing there daughter in

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with our experience at the after hours urgent care last week Wednesday. All staff we came into contact with, from reception, to the nurse, doctor and pharmacist were all very attentive and caring. The wait time was reasonable, considering the time of year and I believe this is credit to their great systems they have in place. I have to say a big thank you to the pharmacist - once we had finished with the doctor the pharmacy had closed. However, we happened to come accross the pharmacist himself on the way out and we sparked up a conversation, upon finding out we had just missed their closing time, without hesitation he offered to head back in and organise the medication we needed for my daughter.. This really topped off our experience and I am so grateful to everyone there. I would definitely recommend and despite the 50 minute drive, we will be coming back in future. Thank you!

Negative experience: Absolute horror. I came in with my 7 month baby around 7 triaged by 8pm and put in a room to await dr as baby was having fevers, cough and laboured breathing. Went into room at 8 and were not seen til 10:15pm when the triage nurse saw me pacing the corridor as baby was getting upset and was surprised that we had not been seen yet.. miraculously 10 min later we were then seen by a dr. I understand there are priorities but we were CLEARLY forgotten in that room and that is absolutely unacceptable when things change so quickly with babies. I will be taking this matter further as there needs better communication and oversight. Your reception staff are appalling in their blatant disregard to patients( l could hear them talking about me after l came to check when we would be seen once baby got distressed). Absolute disgrace that you call yourselves health professionals. I will gladly give my details for this to be followed up. This has really left a sour taste in my mouth you all need to do better. Update: 2 months later and no one has responded to any of my queries, even after filling out patient surgery with my details.. that should tell you a lot about this place.

Fantastic experience: The nurses and GPs here were an absolute godsend for me recently when I came in! It was so much faster and nicer than waiting at Middlemore and I really appreciated that the doctor I saw even followed up with me later to make sure I’d gotten my test results. Keep up the awesome job team ❤️

Negative experience: Disappointed with the waiting time for my 8months old baby who needed an urgent care as he had a cut under his eyes. Being nice and Waited for 2hours and still had to wait for 9 other patients. Super disappointed

Negative experience: Didn’t want to believe the reviews but they are truly utterly useless and disregard for people’s times. I told my hubby that this place had lots of one star reviews for a reason. He waited for hours to be be told no one booked him in. No told him to do anything except for “take a seat”. He has a splitting headache and cannot take any more medication for it. Honestly I know the excuse of short staffed but if you’re at reception and you aren’t doing much, you should spend the time checking in that everybody is okay. That’s what I did when I worked at reception. Common sense please.

Negative experience: Girlfriend had a really bad flu for multiple days, so went in n told the triage nurse all symptoms. She couldn’t even speak and almost have every single symptom possible, worse being nausea muscle pain light headed and vomiting. Yet many many people are placed in front of us. We waited for 4 hours and politely asked the receptionist how long left would we have to wait, she said around 4 more patients before me, however her fit up attitude made me back into my seat. Sat for another 2 hours… I’ve had a terrible experience here, east Auckland needs another medical centre.

Negative experience: Have visited East Care multiple times, however it has to be the worst A&E I've been to in Auckland. Extremely long wait times, lack of care when finally seen by the doctor/nurses. Would rather take a longer drive to another A&E for better quality care.

Negative experience: I have looked through the reviews. Half of the one star reviews mentioned a nurse changing the priority by her own interest. It happened to me as well. Please investigate the nurse who was on duty on 31 Jan 2023, during 7pm to 11pm. She might be the only ink in clear water to give the clinic the bad name.

Negative experience: Very disappointing vist. I went there with my sick boy. He's temperature keeps over 39 and won't drop after panmol and ibrufen. He looks very sick and vomited twice during waiting. Only one group of people came earlier than us, but they pushed us to almost the last one to see the doctor. Their explanation is they have a priority of most urgent patients. But most of patients they put infornt of us looks fine. And seem they are following first come first served. I don't know why that nurse keep putting people in front of us.

Negative experience: Before was $80. Now is $110 without any notice. And I just spent $124 ($14 for 2 pain reliever) and 2 hours of waiting on a Medical certificate only for 2 days. To Camille Davis: Spending my money to get a medical certificate is not because I hate my job. It’s because I was too sick to work. I wish you can experience what Hydronephrosis feels like. U only give me 2 days to look for a urologist. R U kidding? No empathy for a patient who needs a rest from physical work. I will never go to this medical centre because of you. Edit: You know the place is no good where it’s customer response is argumentative. I give you one star because I would rather go to the hospital. And their service is better.

Negative experience: I would have given (-5) if possible for everything, they need to change the name from urgent care to “it depends on there mood” care. I’ve been there few times even with one or two patients in waiting area or even large number of people, they will see you when they want . Same waiting time with less people or with more people. If you call them 7 pm and they don't book you in as they say they have to leave exact at 11pm. So why call it urgent care!! I guess it rather should be general medical store. And also should be closed for holidays as well because doesn’t make much difference

Fantastic experience: I had an accident involving a chainsaw and my leg. Dr Daniel did an excellent job of the stitches. Wait time was better than going to Auckland Hospital. Very professional service. The only minor complaint is that the noise in the waiting room of people just trying to talk to each other and the glass panels at reception make it really hard to hear each other. I suggest getting a speaker system installed between patient and reception the same as Auckland hospital has and some sound deadening applied to the ceiling to stop the echoes and general noise.
