Team Dental provide affordable, no “bells and whistles” dentistry. We aim to keep dental treatments simple, to offer good explanations and to inform our patients of their options. We are competent, friendly, caring and have a genuine empathy. We are good down to earth people offering good down to earth dental services.
Not only do we operate Monday to Sunday, with short lead in appointment times, we also offer emergency dentistry in case of an accident. We have 6 dental clinics across New Zealand, with Dentists in Christchurch, Tauranga and Whangarei available for appointments 364 days a year.

Fantastic experience: I want to sincerely thank Dr. Kevin Tan for making my recent dental treatments—cleaning, filling, and a root canal—so easy and comfortable. I was a bit anxious going in, but Dr. Tan explained everything clearly and made sure I felt at ease throughout the whole process. His calm and professional approach made a big difference. Also, a big thank you to the receptionist for being so friendly and efficient when scheduling my appointments. They were very accommodating and made it easy to find times that worked for me. Fantastic experience: The best Dentist I have ever been to in my life and that’s saying something when over 60. May Wong was absolutely amazing. She talked me through everything she was going to do and spoke throughout the procedure what she was going to do next. I ended up having to have my back tooth out and May saw how stressed I was. She was again amazing. Allowing me to compose myself before she did anything. I cannot praise her enough and she was so good I didn’t even realise she had taken the tooth out. Her assistant was also amazing and calmed me during the extraction. She reminded me to take deep breaths and relax my shoulders as she noticed I was tensing up. I have to say I have a phobia about dentists as I have had such awful experiences so this has restored my faith into going to the dentist. Even the friendly receptionist just added to a stress free experience. If you are looking for a professional caring dentist then May Wong at Team Dental is for you.

Fantastic experience: I had a part of one my front tooth chip off on boxing day which left the nerve exposed , also exposing me to some of the most intense pain i have experienced, and I'm no stranger to broken body parts and long term chronic pain, but this was a different and very excruciating situation. I was lucky to come across the team at Riccarton as nearly all other dentists were closed for holidays.. they got me in the next day and this was the beginning of me getting to know the team a bit better than i was really hoping for.. I was relieved of my nightmare pain , but apparently my major lack of dental maintenance and 3-4L of coke a day had severely taken its toll on most of my teeth. I would need multiple visits which is not good news for someone in my position, and having severe anxiety there was the potential for me to not follow through with the rest of the work required after the initial painful problem was fixed. I am EXTREMELY GRATEFUL i ended up under the care of Dr Shweta Gautam, who i got to see once a week from the initial visit for 6 more appointments. She was so understanding of my pain, fear , anxiety and embarrassment for getting myself into this position. She calmly and precisely explained every step before and during the procedures, with utmost respect and professionalism, keeping pain and anxiety to a minimum. Both her and her assistants were excellent, even taking extra time and patience to bring me back around after i fainted. She put up with my ridiculous sense of humour and stupid questions, giving me the appropriate amount of sarcastic humour and advice in return. Apparantly i only need to clean and floss the teeth i want to keep. To be honest i would do anything that Dr Shweta ever needed, but will never be able to repay her skill and kindness. I have cut down dramatically on coke and other sugary crap, invested in electric toothbrush and using it properly and regularly! Thank you so much to the whole team.

Positive experience: I am so happy this afternoon around 2pm my tooth successfully extracted by a lovely Dentist Shweta Guatam at first i was so scared and my heart beats like a drumfor it is my first time here in Newzealand to visit the Dentist for tooth extraction but thank God i have a good experienced... now im home for the recovery of the wound...i strongly recommend Dentist Shweta...and to all TEAM DENTAL you do really a GREAT Job ...my husband too had a good experienced in Team Dental located in bealey Ave.

Fantastic experience: I went to see Dr KEVIN CHEW because of long term headache, He carefully checked my teeth with X-Rays and found no issues, then he patiently explained to me that I might be TMJ disorder, he referred me to see a specialist quickly. Dr Kevin is highly recommended. The specialist arranged OPG X-ray quickly, I just read the OPG reports says "Supernumerary right mandibular tooth". I will phone Dr Kevin to see if I need go to see him first before I go to see the specialist.

Fantastic experience: May has been the most kind and patient dentist. As someone who is very nervous getting dental procedures done, she always talks through each procedure and what to expect so theres no surprises. Her lovely assistant is always there with a supportive hand on the shoulder and a stress ball if needed! Very kind and honest people who dont try to rip you off for money. Fantastic experience: Historically I have always had a fear for dentists . Since having treatment from Kevin I’ve been so relaxed that I could almost fall asleep in the chair . Kevin has the most calming energy and really cares about what he does , he always asks me how I’m doing and explains everything. Pity I never found him earlier in my life ! Fantastic experience: Emergency repair of chipped tooth and my dentist Emma Ward from Team Dental Harewood was in for a Saturday shift. I was over the moon as she knows my teeth, explains everything really well. Unfortunately, she makes it so relaxing, that I fell asleep again ... which makes her job challenging lol.

Negative experience: I asked for dental check up when I was making the appointment and when I rang, I also had pain in one side my mouth yet that was all that was checked and I was given advice on cracked teeth, I did not get the checkup due that I was booking appointment for and did not check the rest of my teeth so I was really very disappointed
Dominique, Thank you for the review. We do try and keep our costs to a minimum but we are aware dentistry is expensive but necessary. We recommend having regular check ups so we can catch issues before they become expensive to repair. Thank you for your review.

Fantastic experience: I have recently had dental work done with Team Dental and cannot rate them highly enough. Kevin Chew is thorough and informative and is the most gentle dentist I have seen ( I am in my 60's). The Team are always very polite and helpful and the rooms are bright and airy. They also have off-street parking which is great as Riccarton Rd is always busy. This is the best dental practice I have been to.

Fantastic experience: Great experience under a difficult extraction and the team were truly amazing. The dentist was just amazing and his assistant distracted while needles going in. This is the best experience at a Dental Clinic and I’m thinking of changing to them for future work. Negative experience: I did filling in my teeth after 1 week its start paining again like before totally waste of money .I am feeling now there is No filling in my teeth.
Pramod, We are very sorry to hear that you have been in pain, I understand that the Practice manager has been in touch and you are being seen tomorrow to follow up. Occasionally treatment does require follow up visits and our Dentists would much rather you contact us if treatment has not been successful or the problem has not been resolved. I am sure that given the opportunity our Dentist will be able to resolve the issues you are experiencing.
Fantastic experience: This week I had another successful visit with Kevin Chew at Team Dental in Riccarton. Kevin is the best dentist in Christchurch in my opinion. My teeth are heavily filled from previous years. Kevin has always managed to carefully maintain these old fillings. He only replaces them if necessary. He has never removed any teeth, which I am so grateful for because I want to keep my own teeth as long as possible but I am getting older. I have full confidence in Kevin and his recommendations.

Positive experience: Great dentist. The only feedback I would give is that you should set up reminder emails/texts every 6 months for hygienist and dentist. It would help my husband and I come more often!

Fantastic experience: I left my dentist to come here as they could fit me in alot sooner, My dentist was so great he explained everything when I had to get a tooth out and very gentle. The nurse was so lovely she tapped my should while I was getting the needle so caring. Loved the calming music also. I will recommend team dental riccarton road to everyone.

Negative experience: I know I'm not the easiest person to deal with and know my teeth are screwed but to be told it in such a harsh manner then to almost say that taking the tooth out will not help the pain and have your held in a uncomfortable position and being told to realx so many times. I have never felt so uncomfortable in a dentist chair my whole body was tingling during my time here. I had to cancel my dinner plans cos I felt worse then before I went in. My neck was sore and anxiety levels tho the roof

Fantastic experience: I had an extraction and implant procedure done by May Wong and her team I thought they were very professional and considerate, and the operation seems to have gone well with minimal postop pain!
