Negative experience: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5 stars) I recently had a very frustrating experience at this dental clinic. I went in with tooth pain, expecting a proper diagnosis, but instead, the dentist immediately suggested a cleaning without properly assessing my condition. It’s common knowledge that getting a cleaning while your tooth is inflamed can make things worse, yet this was completely ignored. Not only did the treatment do nothing to solve my problem—my pain actually got worse afterward—but I was also charged over $400. This included a $40 X-ray fee, which is usually free at other clinics as part of the consultation. In New Zealand, a standard cleaning typically costs around $100+, so this pricing felt extremely unreasonable. I found this clinic to be highly unprofessional. Instead of providing a proper treatment plan based on my condition, they seemed more focused on pushing unnecessary procedures rather than actually addressing the root cause of my pain. I’m sharing my experience to remind others to ask detailed questions before agreeing to any treatment. Make sure you’re getting the right care for your condition and are aware of all costs upfront.

Negative experience: I had a very disappointing experience at this dental clinic. I went in with severe tooth pain, expecting a proper diagnosis. However, instead of thoroughly assessing my condition, the dentist immediately recommended a cleaning without considering that my tooth was inflamed. As a result, my pain worsened after the treatment, and the visit was completely ineffective. I would not recommend this clinic to anyone seeking careful and professional dental care. Besides, 2-3mins tooth cleaning charge me $320. This is rob me off.

Fantastic experience: Had my molar tooth fillings (from long ago at a different place) redone as one little part of my tooth broke off. Dr Jung and the attendant assistant/receptionist did an amazing job. They were professional, kind and courteous. I don't like visiting a dentist but thankfully, this one turned out alright.

Negative experience: Did a good job on daughters teeth but got ripped off because of their incompetence. Got initially denied ACC even though she qualified. Smile dentist pocketed the excess. Smile going in but sad going out.

Negative experience: I'm sharing my experience at Smile Dental Albany with Dr. Jung Houn because I believe I was overcharged. On February 4th, 2025, I had a cleaning, x-ray, and five fillings. The total was $1950 (including an $80 x-ray discount - see attached receipt). The cleaning cost of $450 seems excessively high compared to other dentists in the area. I was only told the total cost after my exam. I recommend comparing prices before booking any treatment here.

Negative experience: Had a terrible experience! Do not recommend this place at all! I had a 11 o’clock hygiene appointment, waited there till 11:23am, no receptionist, no one told me how long I needed to wait. When they finally are ready for me, they didn’t even bother to apologise for the waiting or lack of communication. The whole process took 16 mins in total including brief explanation, I’ve never had such a short and rushed hygiene clean, my teeth was not cleaned properly after when I checked it in the mirror. Sadly this is the place I’ve been to for years because of Dr Dana, she was extremely detailed and the process used to take 45m to 1 hour. Strongly not recommend it!!! If you don’t want to waste your $180, do not go there!!!

Fantastic experience: I've been going to this dentist for a good few years now, always feel comfortable and Dr Jomy is so gentle and always asks if your ok during appointment, would highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been there for my teeth treatment for 4 years. The price is very reasonable compared to other places. I like Dr Jomy, she always made me feel relaxed and explained everything to me. The dentist is not like a GP, you can easily change your GP but you want to stick with your dentist forever.

Fantastic experience: We reckon Dr. Marcus Kwan is one of the most gentle yet efficient dentist around. My parents who are very scared of dental visits are frequently visiting Marcus because he is friendly and always very gentle with our teeth. Charges are reasonable as well and that is always a bonus! Fantastic experience: I had second time dental treatment 1:30pm on Tuesday 11th April 2023 from Albany branch. At that time , they did very hard work to get my wisdom teeth out put me under local anaesthesia several times . I am really impressed the Jung Houn So team’s very hard and great their job . If my friends want to receive dental treatment then I will strongly recommend the team.

Fantastic experience: Second visit to Smile Dental Albany. Have to comment on the proffessional treatment that is given at this surgery. Was seen promtly, upmost respect and best of all, completly painless experience. I also would mention no problem parking my car. Had a broken tooth below the gum that required a difficult extraction. Have to comment on the very skillful way that the extraction was carried out by Dr. Jomy. It was completly pain free with little or no damage to the gum. Of particular note is the care and respect that is given to this practice clients.

Fantastic experience: I had a big cavity in my Left upper Wisdom tooth and was in pain. Needed to take it out. I had very bad experience in the past with wisdom tooth extraction with dentists so I was very careful with selecting a dentist. Initially I was seen by Dr Cynthia for the pain caused by an infection and she referred me to a private surgeon for the extraction due to my complex situation. She was really good checking my teeth properly and took an 2D scan, was given medication for the infection and explained what's going on. I went for the consultation with a private surgeon as referred but he was horrible. By observing the culture of that private business and felt they are more priotising making money than the patient and the way of consultation went through with the surgeon I decided not to go ahead with him even after spending $400 just for the consultation. Then I did my research and found senior dentist Dr. Ala in Albany Smile branch. Had a consultation with him and he explain the process with refering to my 2d scan. Iwas happy to go ahead with the extraction. I was so scared and nervous with the procedure but actually it was fast even before i realized my tooth has already taken out. Thank you Dr. Ala Al Attar. Thank you very much for making this process a very pleasant and a safe one. Bless you

I have been seeing Dr Alice So, for around about a year, coming up with treatment and dental hygiene plans. I can only but give 5 stars, and highly recommend (Smile Dental Albany) but also VERY HIGHLY Recommended Dr Alice So. She talks you through the process, provides excellent treatment, and overall is amazing at what she does! Thank You Dr Alice! You have changed my life massively ❤️

Negative experience: If I could provide a 0 star review I would, a 1 star is giving Smile dental in Albany way more credit than what they deserve. After the treatment they gave my husband yesterday and myself when I rung to complain I am just shocked. They were completely unprofessional, lacked empathy were rude and after they booked my husband an appointment, He arrived to have them demand more money -without even assessing his problem and then turned him away leaving him in absolute agony was absolutely disgusting practice. And as i said NOT ONCE DID THEY EVEN OPEN HIS MOUTH! When I rung to complain and said they should be ashamed they booked us another appointment to then be yelled at by the receptionist who told me that if we blame them then... why should they have to fix it and hung up the phone on me. I have written to the health department who responded saying.... "Thank you for your email informing us that Jason was being turned away from Smile Dental in Albany. It was very unprofessional of the dental practice. We will be investigating this matter further." I do not recommend this practice at all!

Unfortunately, you say you can't help me, there is nothing you can do for me you said, I agree my teeth are stuffed, I am now in alot of pain, I asked for either a filling or an extraction, but was suggested a plate, denture, or other for a $1000. 1st time I've left a dentist unsure what I need to do and confused. Am now using clover oil for pain. Cost $35 for an xray. Thank you

Fantastic experience: It was difficult to locate the dentist office, but I gave them a call and they directed me to the office easily. It was my first time at this Dentist so I was nervous however Dr. Jomy made me feel so comfortable and well taken care of, she helped me with all my needs and answered all my question. Negative experience: The free check up thing is a scam. The dentist tells you you need x-rays which cost more than just paying to go to a dentist and get a check which includes x-rays. The dentist was watching TV have the time we were in the room. Wasn't impressed.

She check her computer but for whatever reasons they can not attend my wife but instead she advise us that she can rebook my wife to their Glenfield mall branch. Doctor explained to me everything about my teeth conditions, treatment options, possible complications. He didn't push for more expensive treatment, respected my choice.
