Fantastic experience: Switched to City dentists a bit over a year ago, despite it being slightly out of the way for me to get to, absolutely no regrets. The team are so professional, kind and helpful. Thankfully haven't had to have a lot of invasive procedures yet, but so far, really happy

Fantastic experience: Kamil has been my dentist and Azin my hygienist for several years now. When I first went I hadn’t been to the dentist for years and was a very nervous and anxious patient and Kamil was the best and every appointment he always makes sure I calm and ready to go but my anxiety has reduced greatly under his care, and Azin is great. She’s just lovely and I leave feeling great after every appointment.

Fantastic experience: Having quite a bad dentist phobia I have avoided dentists for many many years, however an extreme toothache led me to booking an appointment at City Dentists. I have seen Alice twice now this year and I couldn't recommend her any more highly, she was so kind and gentle and I have not felt judged at all by her for the condition of my teeth. The assistants and receptionists have been super lovely as well. I am actually looking forward to going back for my check up in the new year and working with Alice to make some long overdue improvements to my oral health!

Fantastic experience: I'm writing to express my gratitude for my dental hygienist Amanda, it was by far the most satisfactory experience I have had in New Zealand. I have some existing dental conditions: dental implant & orthodontics retainer, during the treatment, Amanda was very nice and warm, she took care of every corner of my tooth with gentle & accurate, the procedure is highly professional and pain-free. especially, she has frequently moist my lips with water to prevent it to be chapped, what a lovely experience. Really thankful that I can rely on City Dentists for my living in Wellington.

Fantastic experience: Wow, what am amazing service! Today I saw Alice, this is my first time here. I looked online as I had a toothache, and thought I needed an extraction. But instead I got a filling, Alice was transparent and gentle. This was the best dental experience I have had by far. I couldn't feel any pain the whole time I was there. I feel asleep a few times, because I was so relaxed. Alice was very gentle and always advised what the tools might feel like. The anasthesia was the right amount. It didn't feel heavy. Absolutely no pain at all. What a wonderful experience! She was fantastic. Natasha was good too. Thank you for a great experience. I will be sure to come back here when I come back to Wellington. Positive experience: Fantastic experience. Kamil solved a few problems that other dentists had identified as requiring specialist treatments, and made the whole process very straightforward and easy to understand, as well as outlining an overall treatment plan. While it was more expensive than competing dentists, I felt the value of getting top level treatment was worth the difference.

Fantastic experience: I've been with City Dentists (Chris) for a long time. I'm very anxious about any dental treatment but Chris is always friendly, calm and gentle and he doesn't do work unless it's really necessary. So I trust him. He puts me at ease and always makes sure I understand everything that's going on. City Dentists have really convenient hours and have always managed to get me in when it's been urgent.

Negative experience: These guys charged me twice the price of my previous session (check up) which only took half the time of the previous session and the dentist did only one X-ray (in comparison to 2 X-ray in the check up session). He said the exact same thing as my check up session and the whole session took 5 minutes and they charged me $160 for nothing!!! I would never go there again! It’s a ripoff!

Fantastic experience: Friendly team and very welcoming to new customers. Moved down from Auckland and was looking for a new dentist, couldn’t have found better!! Just make sure you book well in advance as they are very busy!!

Fantastic experience: I came to City Dentists after years with another dentist, who was originally a stand-alone operator but later joined the Lumino franchise. He moved to another centre to start a new Lumino practise. I stayed with Lumino for a while but was urged to switch by my partner, who had been with City Dentists for years. This happened when I was given a huge quote for work which might not have been necessary – and my partner believed that I was a victim of 'upselling' to meet the franchise's new business generation targets By contrast, since switching to City Dentists I have found the approach to be conservative and professional, with no pressure to undertake expensive treatments. Indeed, there is an incipient problem with a crown which may need replacing eventually – but the advice given was to keep an eye on it at 6-monthly checkups. Very appropriate, particularly for someone my age (67). The treatment I have had – just one simple filling so far – was, of course, done very competently.

Positive experience: I wasn’t able to get into my regular dentist at short notice. Getting an early appointment was great as parking was easy and free before 8. Reception is very efficient and text reminders are helpful.

Fantastic experience: First time I had been to City Dentists, being a person who delays going to dentists previously I had the best experience here!! Kristen was great, she sensed my apprehension and calmed me down, she explained what she was doing and was open and honest on options too. Negative experience: I came here because of the good reviews and it was conveniently located but didn't seemingly have as good an experience as everyone else. I've lived all over the world and have been to a few dentists in my time and this place rates solidly as a 2-3/5. It was impersonal, brief, and painful. I came in for a 15 minute "full examination" and was somehow out in about 7 minutes in what felt like a very rushed and brief appointment, and then to be stung for $70 on the way out the door. More weird though was being repeatedly stabbed in the gums while the dentist used his dental probe to point to where he was talking to. I think at the time I was too shocked with the approach, but next time I'd definitely be asking for perhaps a mirror and a less sharp instrument to be used while he talks through any observations.

Fantastic experience: I am utterly terrified of dentists, and had been, lets be honest, utterly terrible at actually going to one for some years. The staff at City Dentists were awesome, with a huge thanks to Chris for being utterly non-judgemental about my previous lack of fortitude and for putting me at ease throughout the process by clearly explaining each step that was going on and why.

Fantastic experience: After previous experience of having a wisdom tooth removed that I felt every minute of. I gained a phobia of dentists like a lot of people. I shake so much having to go. Well last thursday I broke a tooth. Rang city dentists at 7am friday morning and got an apt at 8am with Kamil. All I can say is wow! Kamil was absolutely amazing and calming and took his time with me explained it was a wisdom I had broken which sent my nerves way up again. I shouldn't have worried... he was in no rush and waited patiently for the injection to work. When it came time to remove the tooth I barely even felt the pressure or pulling that you normally do!. I will now only go to Kamil and cant recommend this team enough! After care is just as amazing.

Fantastic experience: I had a very eye-opening, educational trip to the hygienists the other day at City Dentists. I'd never been to the hygienists before but not only did my she show me how to floss properly but she explained why it was important and explained to me how it disrupts the growth of gingivitis etc. I've flossed every day or second day since since her talk was so motivating. She also taught me in detail about different toothpastes and risks in buying whitening products at the supermarket and stuff, which I thought was eye opening and fascinating. She wasn't condescending at all and I felt very respected. You could tell she was super enthusiastic and passionate about her job, and I trusted her 100% with my teeth.

My dentist at no time judged my condition and was straight up about what needed to be done, my options & costs. Their after care communication has been outstanding and a welcome surprise. Fantastic experience: Sore tooth for months undiagnosed or treated by 2 other dentists. City Dentists found the tooth had split completely and was infected underneath. It had to be removed, which they did on the spot. Such a relief to end a prolonged period of suffering. They have given me options for replacement. I would use City Dentists again, and recommend.

Negative experience: Initially my consult experience 12 July was ok. However, dealing with their support admin staff has much to be desired. After my dentist advised (last Friday) I urgently needed one of 3 fillings, but couldn't see me for a week due to a full schedule and being away on leave, I decided (on the weekend) to take action myself this morning and seek out another dentist for the urgent filling and have my dentist at CDL do the other two lesser important ones when he's back. Well, a simple request to CDL Team forward me the Xrays (I paid) for has been worse than pulling teeth! It's pretty obvious that I need these and the dentists consult so the dentist I go to doesn't need to charge me for another consult and set of expensive Xrays. So today, its taken me several phone calls and some 4hrs to finally be told the "process" to get the Xrays sent to me (which I was promised in the morning - first call) can take a while and then was told it doesn't normally happen in the same day it was requested. It took me to probe more before they finally admitted they hadn't even looked into it, despite my initial request at 9am. I even offered to come and collect them given I work 4 doors away..answer a flat "No" with no proper explanation, other than citing mystical "the process". If all this wasn't bad enough, they cancelled my appointment with my dentist on 22 July, despite me being very clear that I want that appointment to remain until such time as I confirm another dental appointment (as in I will call to cancel) once I have one secure for asap this week. So yes, when I saw the alert telling me the appointment had been cancelled, I promptly called back to ask them to reinstate the appointment..what a drag! Wow..thanks for nothing guys..you could have explained all of this "process" and delay with Xrays I've paid for the first time I called... On top of all this the dismissive attitude and lack of transparency is just completely unacceptable I have been away from NZ for 12 or so years and have been asked to come back to NZ for work for a year and was looking forward to coming home, seeing and living in Wellington (my 3rd week back). Sadly, this less than optimal customer service not only convinces me CDL are not the dentists for me (to spend my money with), nor recommend to my personal network, or anyone else reading this, it's saddened me as I thought and always held my fellow Kiwi's in high regard (to friends, and colleagues, whilst living abroad)..you've let the service industry down guys!
