I've been scared to get my hygienist treatment done for a few years as the previous hygienist (at another dentist) made the experience very painful and scary. Negative experience: Unprofessional Service at Dentalcare West—Highly Disappointed I’ve been a loyal customer at Dentalcare West for over five years, but after my recent experience, I can no longer recommend this clinic. I had an appointment scheduled three months in advance for 1:30 PM. Upon arrival, I was informed that my appointment had been moved to 2 PM—unexpected, but manageable. However, 2 PM came and went, and I was still left waiting. Concerned about my schedule, I approached the reception desk, only to be told to sit and wait. I requested to speak with the manager, hoping for a reasonable solution. Instead, I was met with excuses and an indifferent attitude. When I asked to reschedule for the following Monday, I was flatly refused, with no effort made to accommodate me. Their handling of the situation demonstrated a complete lack of customer service and unprofessionalism. To make matters worse, the manager then suggested doing a rushed job at a discount—completely missing the point. Quality dental care should never be compromised, and I am willing to pay for a full, proper service. Dentalcare West’s management clearly has issues, and I will not be returning. I certainly won’t be recommending them to friends or family, especially as someone who works in customer service myself.

Fantastic experience: Definitely recommend! Luke is such a great dental hygienist—friendly, professional, and incredibly thorough. He goes beyond just cleaning your teeth by making sure you’re comfortable and well-informed the whole time. You can tell he really cares about his patients. Highly recommend booking with him!

Fantastic experience: Really good experience here with Dr.Alex Wu. My wisdom teeth is painful everyday and Dr.Alex was very nice and patient, provided multiple options in a short time. Greatest dentist I’ve ever meet.

Fantastic experience: We had such a great experience here! Our amazing dentist was dr Neti? ( not sure how to spell it) she was so lovely to my 10 year old...didn't rush us ...informed me on everything and even showed me what she was doing. Very impressive.

Fantastic experience: I came for a second opinion on a front tooth crown replacement and the whole experience was incredible! The price was reasonable (and less than half than what another dentist quoted), the clinic and technology was great, the booking was easy and Dr Vikram and his assistant were so friendly and accommodating! They were so understanding and ensured I was 100% happy with the final look!

Fantastic experience: I want to reccomend this Dental Practice to everyone near and far here in Auckland and those visiting outside of Auckland. Want to send a massive shout out to Dr Vikram Bhatt and the Team at DentalCare West for their care and wonderful service for my father. From the day I booked an enquiry for my Father who wanted to look into getting dentures for his bottom teeth I was given such great customer service by the receptionist team , so wonderful and helpful . Then the day coming into clinic , everyone was very inviting and welcoming and so professional . The waiting area was so great and being first time visit there it's so nice , spacious and very modern. This week we were due to have the 1st appointment for dentures for dad however , he had a loose tooth which came at very bad timing . Dr Bhatt and team handled the tooth extraction very professionally . My Father was very very VERY impressed . He said , to let you know out of all the Dentist here in West he highly reccomends Dental Care West and this is the BEST DENTAL PRACTICE IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD !! . The service was exceptional from the wonderful dental assistants and the procedure of tooth extraction and making sure my dad was comfortable was absolutely amazing he can't thank you all enough . With other dental places tooth extractions would make him feel so uncomfortable and give him such terrible headache but with the work done professionally by the right people who know what they are doing and have studied and qualified to get to the level of high professionalism , you know you are in the right hands. Dad is recovering well and just has been so relieved with the experience and just wanted to share the lovely experience with everyone . Will definetly reccomend to everyone in the family. Fantastic experience: I chose this dental practice based on the positive reviews, and I’m so glad I did! I have to admit, I rescheduled my appointment twice due to anxiety and fear of the dentist. However, my partner encouraged me to go, and it turned out to be much better than I expected. It had been a long time since my last visit—back in high school in 2012—so my teeth definitely needed some TLC. From the moment I walked in, the staff were incredibly nice. The receptionist was warm and welcoming, and my hygienist was fantastic. He made me feel comfortable right away; he was approachable, gentle, and even had a great sense of humor, which helped ease my nerves. I honestly love this place! I’m already booked for a follow-up appointment with the dentist and another hygiene clean. After this experience, I plan to come in every six months for regular check-ups. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience: My daughter had accident yesterday afternoon she broke her front two teeth . She was very lucky to have them fixed .The dentist I saw was very kind and very soft spoken made my daughter feel very comfortable. Absolutely amazing service best information given to me by this dentist. The dentist assistant was very kind and made my daughter feel very relaxed. Fantastic experience: Upon discovering that I needed a dental implant I looked at several possible practices and finally decided to go to Dentalcare West. It was probably the best decision I could have made. Dr James Philpott and his team were excellent, professional, polite and very efficient. Considering the procedure included the cutting and stitching of gums and drilling into the jawbone, I felt no pain either during the procedure and relatively little discomfort throughout the healing process. Not only did they provide a perfect match, the work carried out was also competitive pricewise. Total support was offered - I couldn't have wished for a better service. Thanks guys!!

Fantastic experience: Dentalcare West has provided high quality services for my family for several years. Dr James took care of my son’s orthodontic treatment, including referral to an excellent maxillofacial surgeon, his teeth look amazing and he is continuing his regular care here now. James is now helping me with my dental needs and I had a hygienist appt with Luke this week and he was awesome. My husband and sister also go to Dentalcare West. Lots of options provided to suit budgets, lots of parking and staff are all lovely, one even gave me a hug because I looked a bit anxious for one appt. 100/10 highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Top service, all staff very friendly and informative. You don’t feel like you’re being sold more than you need. Explain things very well and clearly. Consultation is only $50 and you don’t feel pressured into taking on any dental work they recommend. Reception area is welcoming, rooms are very clean. Even have TVs on the roof. Free parking at the back. Take the left turn after DentalCare West and you’ll see their car pack on your left. Toilets available. Accessibility friendly.

Fantastic experience: Had my wisdom teeth removal here, Dr Alex was super friendly . The whole process was only 30mins for 2 teeth and the pain went away in one day. Price was fair too. Will definitely come back again.

Fantastic experience: I am really happy with the service and the staff. My son has been going here for 3 years for his teeth braces. No issues, they are always helpful and answer any questions we might have. Staff at reception are friendly and have a smile on their face when they great us. Negative experience: Such a horrible place to be at, the manager there Gavin ray is an extreme racist and also a person who wants to be paid for doing everything wrong, they just randomly send people’s name to debt collection without any notice or any email or warning, in our case money had to be paid after the job was finished, (job is still incomplete) but this uneducated and nonsense person named Gavin, without confirming anything with us, or even asking us anything just sent our name to the debt collection agency when it was not even supposed to go in debt collection. Gavin is so unprofessional and senseless and stupid, he doesn’t even know a thing, wonder how did he even clear the interview to get the job there, am highly disappointed and recommend everyone to please not choose this place as they are highly unprofessional and nonsense.

Negative experience: The orthodontist, James, who looked after my tooth was amazing, the problem is the people that have employed, they put my name in debt, collection, for no absolute reason, by their mistake, they thought I out the money, which I didn’t, but instead of calling and checking with me, they just gave my name into debt, collection, and Ruin my records, the manager who works there is absolutely disrespectful, he has no sense to talk to customers and this is why I have decided to never go here again, and I have told all of my friends who live in Glen Eden to not go to this dentist any more, it’s not because of James, as I mentioned before he is amazing it’s because of the week management system, and The lack of training, they do not know how to deal with clients, and how to talk respectfully, I am not the only one that this has happened to. I know two other people who have had to go through the same thing, their name is Passed into debt collection , even though the debt was cleared off. Absolutely terrible, that manager needs to be fired is nobody has time for rude people like that. He is an absolute disgrace to humankind. He seems to be utterly unhappy in his own personal life, which then he takes and happiness out on Customer’s at Dental Care West. Truly terrible never ever going back there again, and I’m never going to let any of my friends and families go back here, I am also going to make a social media post regarding this so others do not fall into this trap.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr Mish and her lovely dental assistant (sorry! Forgot your name!). This team are fantastic if you're nervous about dentists or have had bad experiences previously. A lovely team who both make you feel at ease and complement each other well. Appreciated the way Dr Mish talks through everything she's doing, takes her time and ensures you're comfortable. I felt completely at ease and I hate going to the dentist usually. Dental assistant does not over suction (I hate that thing! It can make me feel very claustrophobic) and is super lovely too. Thanks team! You're amazing!!!

Negative experience: After 6 visits to DentalCare West - for both my child and myself - I am not inclined to plan a return visit. With such a delicate matter as dental health - a calm and careful dentist can make all the difference in the world; and when you are a mum with active kids who are prone to falls, you want to make doubly sure that you find a good dentist. I had a rushed deep clean by the hygienist that caused significant pain and agony that has lasted for almost a month. Following this I was "lucky" enough to get a "free" consultation with the dentist which provided no enlightenment, peace of mind or pain relief options (due to nursing, but fortunately a separate pharmacist knew of something I could take) ... though I at least did get a prescription for antibiotics. I sought a second opinion at a different dentist today for my pain. I drove 40 minutes to see her and it was a HUGE relief to feel like I was taken seriously as a patient, treated professionally and compassionately and I left after a thorough examination with a complimentary follow-up booked for next week.

Fantastic experience: I myself am not the biggest fan of a dentist. I only trust one dentist and that’s dental care west. Good reason for that. I needed to go get my molar extracted today. Effie greeted me at the start of the appointment and was very switched on to everything. Effie and Alex unbelievable through the extraction! They were very gentle and understanding and actually listened everytime I stated I was feeling a little pain. They walked me through the process before it begun, and explained what he was doing throughout the entire extraction so at no time was I lost on what they were doing. Superb from the two. Which justifies my reasoning in why this is the only place I go to !

Negative experience: Got braces on years ago and still have glue on my teeth!!! Wasted so many times getting my teeth whitened just for it not to whiten most my teeth, now they charge $80 to get the glue removed when they should do it for free for not doing it right the first time

Fantastic experience: Been going here for a while now. Very clean and well organised place. Service is great. Today I had to have a tooth extracted and a filling popped out of the tooth next to it (which is common during extractions). Alex (the dentist) replaced the filling free of charge and it was a large filling. Thank you Alex and Dentalcare West. What a great place.

I just had my wisdom tooth taken out and my root canal that failed (not done there) removed. Thank you to the whole team they made me feel welcome and comfortable. Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Zeb Laqekoro to have a crown put on a previously damaged tooth. I was initially nervous about having this procedure done, however Dr Zeb's ability to calmly and clearly explain everything put my mind at ease - he even checked up on how I was going a few days after the procedure had been completed. Dr Zeb is the most professional and personable dentist I have ever come across and I cannot recommend him high enough!

Negative experience: If you require a root canal for tooth pain, Dental Care West will take your money instead of referring you immediately for specialist help from (what I now know to be) an endodontist. Near $1800 down the drain and 18 months of pain with a failed root canal. Dentist who performed procedure has moved on. Where do NZ dentists get off thinking they can do this to people! Choice I'm now faced with is lose the tooth or pay again for a properly done root canal from specialist. I did not report as sometimes, low income earners have no choice but to wait, with pain.

Fantastic experience: Able to get an appointment straight away for my daughter and the staff were fantastic and so caring

Negative experience: I had a infected absess and root canal and it was fixed great. . Also had my front 2 teeth fixed. Was done super fast 2.. very impressive Have changed my review stars as I had to go bak 5 times to get my tooth attached again. I was told i was getting acrylic but it was just white filling. Kept falling off. Have now spent around $10,000 on the 1 tooth cse it wasnt done properly in the 1st place. Elvira originally did it but (cant remember his name) the asian guy fixed it up awesome so far..

Fantastic experience: My wife and I went to the dentist for a regular check up and x-ray. We both needed work done so we made another appointment for the following week. My wife had to have two wisdom teeth out so was abit nervous. We found the Dentalcare West environment so nice and non clinical. Dr Zeb and Jess are a wonderful calm and happy team and we both left with numb mouths but VERY happy with the care and attention we both experienced. Will definately recommend. A++ Great team work much appreciated.

Fantastic experience: Couldn't rate DentalCare West highly enough. After walking in absolutely petrified after having years of horrifying orthodontic treatment done on my mouth in earlier years, i was welcomed by super friendly receptionist and dental assistant. To have Dr Zeb put me at ease and extract my tooth with zero pain or discomfort even in the days following, felt like a miracle! Never thought it possible. Then to get a follow-up call to make sure I was healing ok. Wow! Absolute top service!! Thank you Dr Zeb!!! Legend!!!

Fantastic experience: I was so very 'scared' to see the hygienist because I have had only bad experiences and pain since the murder house as a child. BUT Rochelle was so gentle in manner and technique - I honestly didn't feel any pain. The whole experience was almost pleasant. Definitely recommend Rochelle if you are fearful about visiting a hygienist.

Fantastic experience: Just had tooth extraction done by Dr James and I was petrified as last dentist visit at a different place was a horror story but Dr James and his lovely assistant were incredible and talked me through all the things necessary. The whole process was so easy and he took on board my fears and made sure I was feeling comfortable and at ease the whole time. Dr James is cute and a total sweetheart and I'm making this place the family practice now. So huge THANK YOU to Dr James for your patience, kindness and humour :)

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend Dr Alex Wu - especially if you are scared or nervous about going to dentists. For the first time in my life I dont feel afraid and look forward to going to a dentist instead of waiting till I'm in agonizing pain that cant be ignored. He is gentle (even with extractions) and keeps you in the loop the whole time and doesn't make you feel bad about your teeth. Also the receptionists are very kind and patient.

Fantastic experience: I can’t speak highly enough of my experience at this practice! After being told to do my homework by other orthodontists and dentists who couldn’t take on my case of a severely impacted canine [adult] that is growing in the wrong direction, I came across DCW on the web and read very good reviews. I went into my consultation so nervous, desperate and defeated but Dr Aaron Lee was so kind, professional, and empathetic towards my case. At first I thought he was too young to be an orthodontist but this actually made him more easy to talk haha! He made me understand it all and outlined my options and what plan of action to employ which was missing from other orthodontists. This really made the world of difference in giving me a new, better and brighter outlook on the whole thing. I felt supported to give this a good fight in order to get the smile I want. THANK YOU for restoring my hope and making me feel like you genuinely cared, Dr Lee .

Fantastic experience: Was really nervous being my first time visiting this dentist. However am very pleased with the service I received. From the friendly receptionist that smiled and welcomed me although being 5 mins late. To the sweet nurse that assisted thank you and Dr Sam thank you for your advice and assistance. And before I knew it my tooth was out. Highly recommend. And affordable prices too.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience with this dentist and so did my husband. Mine with Dr Aaron and my husbands with Elvira. I am in the worst pain, too scared to go and see anyone about having it fixed by a real dentist. I had to have jaw surgery in Ellerslie after a botched filling replacement from a fractured tooth and it's been over 2 years since this happened. I'm only writing the review now as I am fed up with the pain and I know it's going to cost a lot to be fixed, as I probably have an abscess now as well. I hear these guys on The Rock in the morning advertising their big giveaway to "a lucky listener", but my experience was that I left in tears after my third visit to try to have my filling corrected (with Dr James), with 2 quotes in hand for waaay more money to have a root canal or an extraction, on top of what is already paid to have it fixed. I have never been more scared of a dental practise and we also cancelled the orthodontist appt. we had booked for our daughter there as well. They didn't care for any of us or our teeth.
