Fantastic experience: Needed an emergency appointment and one was available on the day. They were able to remove my wisdom tooth in that appointment due to my pain. The anaesthetic injection was pain free and the tooth removal went really well. No concerns following on from the procedure, it has healed really well! Very grateful for my experience here :)

Fantastic experience: This was my second time coming to the Macleans Dentist and I will definitely always come back. I had a really good experience after my first visit. I had to have a tooth surgically removed and they messaged me after the surgery and gave me a call the next day checking how I’m feeling. They also asked me to come back for a checkup afterwards to see how the heeling was. I 100% recommend going to the Macleans dentist.

Negative experience: Absolutely awful. No care was taken. I was told off for silent tears after the 7th of at least 18 injections to numb my mouth and rudely mocked by the dentist during the appointment. Wish there was a zero stars or negative stars option for this dentist.

Negative experience: I cannot recommend Dr Shahba Faraj my father went there but was unhappy so changed to a different dentist. The first problem was that Dr Faraj was a bit moody and condescending when responding to questions. The second issue was that he noticed the equipment and decor seemed old and out of date (maybe it has been updated recently), but it didn't give him confidence that money was being invested in the best quality care. The third and biggest issue was that Dr Faraj recommended a course of treatment that was incompatible with my Father's health problems (which he had told Dr Faraj about). When he told the DHB Doctors what was recommended they freaked out and said that was incorrect. If you need a simple filling and a clean and you like her attitude maybe Dr Faraj is OK, but if you have more complex health problems and dental requirements I recommending avoiding her and finding someone with more comprehensive knowledge.

The staff work really well together. Always very friendly from the moment you walk into the reception area. Easy to make appointments, great reminder services. Visited initially for a dental clean, polish and xrays. I then found I needed my first fillings, (which I was a little nervous about having). Turned out to be painless procedures. I decided to split over five appointments, which really helped budget wise. 5 star work and service. Thanks!

Negative experience: I was charged over $450 for a consultation and to have my teeth descaled. The teeth cleaning lasted less than ten minutes and I was provided with a medicated toothpaste and no description of how long to use it, where to purchase more, etc. Generally the dentist was cold and judgmental in her manner. Extortionate.

Fantastic experience: After many years of being afraid of the dentist (and the needles) I visited Macleans Dentist to sort out severe toothache and what a great decision that was! Dr Faraj is amazing! She explained very clearly all that needed to be be done and after a quick initial session to relieve the pain, I have been back for a root canal which was a breeze. Whoever said root canal work is painful has obviously never been to see Dr Faraj! In all honesty, not a single ounce of pain or issues at all as well as at a very reasonable cost. I will be making regular trips for checkups with Macleans Dentist and highly recommend Dr Faraj and the wonderful team to get your dental work done.

Negative experience: Booked in for my 10 year old son, he can’t have his covid vaccine for another week, so is unvaccinated (the rest of our family is fully vaccinated). They said that because he is unvaccinated their rooms are unable to have him inside - whatever that means. Given there is no legal way possible for him to be vaccinated until 17 January, thought this was very harsh and unnecessary.

Fantastic experience: I can't thank Dr Shahba enough for coming to our rescue. Our son broke his front (adult) tooth and Dr Shahba did an excellent job of repairing the damage. She explained the procedure in a manner that was easy for a 6yo to understand, which in turn calmed him down and allowed for a relatively stress free experience. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I have been under Shahba's care for 12 years. My first encounter with her was when I needed a Dentist urgently before undergoig Chemotherapy. I found Shahba, whose Clinic was handy, to be sympathetic but well organised. Teeth needed to be removed and I only had a small window of time to get this done before my treatment started. In record time she made appointments for me to have the extractions done, and a plate fitted. I was ready for my treatment. Thank you Shahba. At that time, I was so grateful to you. Today, all these years later, Shahba is still my friendly dentist.

Fantastic experience: My wife, Tracey has visited Macleans Dentist twice now and is happy with the service. Shahba is very efficient and the surgery is very clean and professional. After my wife's second scale, polish and x-rays Shahba explained which fillings were the most urgent and what the maximum cost would be. My wife has booked to have these sorted in January. After her scale and polish my wife said her teeth felt wonderful. Happy wife!

Negative experience: Would not recommend this dentist. She was really nice until I payed then her attitude towards me changed. In total she did five fillings for me. I told her it was a bit to much for me to do in one sitting but she dismissed my concerns as if she was in a hurry to get rid of me. Throughout the treatment the suction was not held in my mouth properly and I swallowed and choked on the grinding and water. She did a clean and polish for me in this same appointment and only did half my teeth and cut my gums. After the treatment she told me I had a few more fillings to do and said that I need to make another appointment. When I got home I noticed that some of the fillings did not feel right as they were sharp and rough. So I called up to make an appointment and also asked if I could have a treatment plan in writing so I could know what had been done and what treatment was left. When I went for my next appointment I told her some of my fillings felt uncomfortable and if I could get them fix before we proceeded with further treatment. She then became very rude with me to the point I did not feel comfortable to continue having her as my dentist. I made an appointment with another dentist who confirmed that the fillings looked very rough and fix the issue for me. Overall the experience was hurtful due to her dismissive attitude and left me paying more to fix her mistakes.

Negative experience: When I first visited it was lovely ...it wasn't until I had spent my money that I felt it was only about the money ...I went in for a clean 75 dollars and I was only in the chair 8 minutes very disappointed .

Fantastic experience: I have been with Shabah at MacDent since the clinic opened. Now, my husband and children are also her patients, as there is really no need to go anywhere else. She is extremely professional and skilled. Shabah has always kept me informed, explaining every treatment and option available. She outlines the procedures, their impact and cost. I have suffered with extreme sensitivity in my teeth and Shabah is the only dentist who uses a special desensitising gel to ensure I am not in discomfort during scaling and polishing, which used to have me gripping the chair and flinching at every other dentist in the past. Communication from the clinic is great, by text or phone. There is always a personal touch and a friendly greeting when I contact the clinic. I like the personal interest Shabah takes in my teeth and remembers everything that has been done. I also love that she expects the best and works to get my teeth in the best possible shape with the least intervention. I've had nothing but great experiences with MacDent and aim to continue using the service, as does the rest of my family.

Fantastic experience: Being new to Auckland I had not found a new dentist and had been putting off trying somewhere new. I randomly chose Macleans dentist because it was close to my house and easy to get to after work. But the moment I contacted them I knew I had chosen a great dentist. The staff are lovely and make you feel really comfortable and relaxed. Communication is easy and it has never been a problem to change appointments or ask questions before and after my appointments. I also recently had my teeth whitened at Macleans dentist and am in love with the results! I smile a lot more and it has helped me with my confidence. The care that goes into looking after patients at Macleans dentist is excellent and I highly recommend them!

Negative experience: After calling and writing to the clinic for an appointment to get a chipped tooth fixed, I had to wait for a few days before I got a response. The appointment was then postponed firstly because the dentist was 'on holiday', then because 'she had a flu'. When I turned up for a 11am appointment. I was seen at 11:25 with no acknowledgement of seeing me late by the dentist. The dentist looked at my tooth and told me that I was too late in seeing her, and the tooth should be extracted as 'there is some infection goes under the root of the chipped area'. I was a bit doubtful about what she said, as she didn't even use any tool to touch my tooth nor any x-ray taken. I felt no pain with the chipped tooth, and couldn't believe that I was going to lose it. I decided to have a second opinion about it. The whole process took about 3 mins. I was charged with an 'examine fee' of $50. (There is no receipt as the printer was broken) I then rang another dentist on Te Rakau drive, was warmly welcomed, made an appointment to been seen in 2 days. I went, and after a x-ray and some fillings, I still have my tooth in my mouth.
