Fantastic experience: I've had previous bad experiences with other clinics, which made me steer clear of all things dentist related for a few years. I decided it was time to go for a check up and came to McIntosh Dental, where I got my braces in 2014. Reception staff are super friendly and welcoming. I saw Dr Pritika for a hygienist appointment, who was gentle and informative. Super patient with my questions and made sure I wasn't in any pain, thank you heaps! Dr East and his dental assistant (I'm sorry I didn't catch her name, but she was lovely!) did my check up/composite restoration. When I mentioned that I didn't understand the X-ray, he made sure to give me the full explanation of what he could see, what it meant, and what was going to happen. That level of transparency really put me at ease and confirmed for me that I won't be going anywhere else in the future!

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming to McIntosh for years now and honestly can’t recommend it enough. Dr G, especially has always been incredibly kind and genuinely cares about his patients. He takes the time to answer my questions and I never feel rushed or confused about the care I am receiving. I have even brought my partner here because I have so much trust in the care we receive here with him! My experience with the dental / health sector in New Zealand can sometimes leave me feeling frustrated but my interactions here has always left me feeling so much more positive, human and I always feel confident that I’m receiving high-quality care. The whole team and environment are also just lovely, it's warm, welcoming and friendly every time. I’ll definitely be back for many years to come! Thanks!

Fantastic experience: After many years of being fearfully of the thought of going to the dentist I booked in and had some major work done, things have changed, no more amalgam, about time for that, they made me feel relaxed and comfortable, talked through all there procedures, left feeling good and now have some sound teeth, a must for good health.

Negative experience: Elderly Dentist Assaulted me during Operation / Broke my tooth Timeline of Events UPDATE: 23/04/2025 - Mcintosh is still lying to NZDA about providing a refund for a hygiene clean, they're formally claiming they refunded a payment when they didn't. I'm still unable to get any action or follow-up in regards to the fact the dentist practically assaulted me during the operation. I firmly believe if I was a woman and I was assaulted in this clinic, my complaint would be listened to. Because I am a male and I am claiming assault, this clinic does not seem to care that their dentist broke my tooth during the operation by banging a metal rod on my teeth. Dentist is unhinged, unstable, very old (late 60s) UPDATE: 28/02/2025 | Mcintosh believes the complaint with NZDA is over, it certainly is not over. Readers below beware of the conflicting information that comes out of this Clinic. Here they are publicly stating that the NZDA complaint was resolved, which is false. UPDATE: 27/02/2025 | Dentist Cracked my tooth when striking patient mouth with a metallic object. Dr. East missed his deadline of responding to the NZDA complaint and upon receiving his update they have NOW confirmed that they will file an ACC report for injury. It took almost a month for the Clinic to acknowledge an injury has taken place however is still doubling down on the cracked tooth dispute. I will continue to update this review as this is the first business I have gone to where a real-time coverup is taking place of what occurred. PLEASE BE AWARE THAT THIS CLINIC DOES NOT PARTICIPATE WITH COMPLAINTS WELL! If something goes wrong, they will IGNORE you and claim innocence. Edit: 28/01/2025 | Beware - The Dentist cracked my tooth causing injury and denied it, refused to log an ACC injury report, and did not leave any notes of the injury causing an unnecessary dispute. The Dentist chose to "double down" and claim no wrong-doing, but I was able to prove that the Dentist intentionally did not leave any notes about the cracked tooth - as he was verbally confirming the tooth was cracked. The Clinic asked me to come back and we had a 2 hour consultation (no operation) but discussing the situation, and they still refuse to log an ACC report! Their offer of resolution was to "refund" me for a historical visit back in June 2024 to pay for the last visit - even though they never provided a quote for the most recent visit - they used a historical payment to "resolve" this current pay dispute. Not the best resolution provided, but it is my belief that this Clinic has operated in bad faith by not documenting a cracked tooth which is a significant issue for future. There has been no real resolution offered by this Clinic, and I warn anyone reading this that before you have your operation here - ask your Dentist to be gentle / not be aggressive. I've been to this clinic more than 10 times I believe, and something always seems to go wrong - I think they are very dishonest for not recording notes. The total operation cost for this specific incident is $1,655 - I have paid this full price but they have used $600 "credit" from a historical pay to lower the amount to $1000 - my tooth is cracked and I am out of pocket! TL:DR - Dentist incorrectly advised me that I would lose 3 teeth if I did not get an emergency composite on a tooth that I never enquired about, or had any issues with by suggesting the "rot" would spread. This was after I had completed a filling for another tooth which I came in, the Clinic stayed open in "After Hours" mode while they convinced me I needed a composite on a tooth I never wanted operated on. Then proceeded to tell me that my "Nerves" are wired incorrectly in my mouth, and that I am feeling "phantom pains" - prompting a deep "Gum Clean" operation / then telling me after this I need a root canal. Then cracking my tooth during the root canal by striking my mouth with a metal object and then denying it later. The Dentist responsible is "Dr. East" - I will continue to update this as I proceed the complaint

Fantastic experience: Right from the start, it was all systems go. I don’t trust many people especially in the dentist industry, all due to the cold hearted, dishonest and bad experiences I’ve had with them over the years, and that’s with me coming from a family of dentists and dental nurses. But all of that changed when I found these wonderful angels here at McIntosh Dental Centre in Henderson. For someone who 100% had an indescribable fear and mistrust of dentists since I was a youngster, the fabulous staff here made each and every one of my visits so reassuring and I instantly felt safe. I now almost run through the doors for my appointment. No more sweating while waiting, no more anxious looking at everything that moves, no more negativity running through my brain. From the genuine heart-warming greeting from the wonderful ladies at the reception area right through to the dentists themselves, I cannot speak highly enough of them. Waverly (Dental technician) is an angel nobody thought they needed but now can't live without. She is absolutely fabulous. Dr G is an absolute legend, correct that, he’s almost a saint in my eyes with his gentle and honest manner dealing with people who have a phobia or fear of dentists. I trust him 100% and will follow him right to the end of the earth if I have to, that’s how good he really is. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all of the wonderful work you have done for me, you found my smile. I will never go anywhere or to anyone else – EVER!!

Fantastic experience: Thanks so much to Dr G and Nurse Summer for their amazing care and attention. I had four extractions, and three fillings yesterday and my recovery post-24 hours is excellent. Really loved the friendly banter and professionalism that totally put me at ease. I even watched a Netflix movie! Dr G and Summer did an awesome job and I couldn't be happier with the results. Fantastic experience: Excellent People providing Excellent Service! I was referred to McIntosh Dental by my own dentist for a complex wisdom tooth removal. Dr Ian Kuan and his assistant Amy were extremely professional. Throughout the entire process, I was well informed, my pain management was top-notch, and my recovery went smoothly. I was completely impressed with the level of care I received and totally recommend this practice to anyone requiring dental work.

Fantastic experience: Had my 4 wisdom tooth extraction surgery done Yesterday. The whole procedures are surrounded by smiling staff. I want to express my gratitude to all the staff I met yesterday day because I totally forgot to say thank you when I was still quite unconscious after surgery and canny remember anything since the sedation! What a dream! My gums are even not swelling nor being painful at all! I really should come earlier!

Negative experience: REALLY BAD DENTIST! She was so rude to my Mum and I. Very low IQ, common, and trashy. If you are high class and used to people who behave properly then you do NOT want to go to this trashy place.

Negative experience: Low class, common, white trash is what we expected housesitting in such a rough place as West Auckland and needing the dentist while we were here, and that is exactly what we encountered. They definitely lack the policies that other dentists have such as delivering a high level of customer service. A very stressful experience for my daughter due to the terribly rude behaviour from the dentist. Wishing we had traveled further afield to a higher class area that would have been more fitting for us and hoping the filling is ok when we get it examined at a proper (not West Auckland) dentist :/

Fantastic experience: I had a dream to get my teeth fixed ever since I had remembered. I specifically had put Invisalign on my vision board when I was 18 and at 30 I was getting them, and it was only affordable through the kindness and generosity of the dentist. Interest free loan with a small deposit made someone like myself able to live out my dreams and find the confidence I have found in smiling for photos and just more confidence within myself. The staff are lovely and explain process in laymen’s terms for ya, one staff in particular was going through the Invisalign process at same time as me so it was nice to kind of catch up with them and see how their Invisalign journey was going for them too. My dentist himself was so lovely and genuine to deal with I just felt so safe with him. With other treatments and hygiene cleans that I may need, they are very accomodating with helping make a financial payment plan so that you can afford their services which is something I hadn’t really come across from a high end private clinic. 10/10 will def recommend. They also give $50 credit to those that recommend them too. My brother recommended me.

Fantastic experience: Happy staff with a wonderful dentist. Even though I was just for a checkup (3 years since last, instead of annually), cavity detected early and fixed immediately, taking 2 hours total. Very thorough with many photos and x-ray taken.

Fantastic experience: Despite my freak accident in 2/2022, I received emergency treatment within 1 hour. The empathy and compassion on the actual day was want I needed. The honesty, skill, detailed care, recommendation and open discussion with me and for the recovery and my long journey ahead, was fantastic. Explanation about the unknown, such as ACC, treatment, options and goals were done in a timely manner, which I did very appreciated. I highly recommend the team.

Fantastic experience: Had my Wisdom teeth taken out this morning Dr Rakesh Jattan is very friendly and kind and being careful on his work on procedures and good explanations on what to do after. As well as Dr Ash Singh, He's also caring on taking the teeth out from me but it's not that bad. And Dr Julia, giving me a good instructions about what to Eat, what to avoid, Etc. Very professional. I am highly recommend this place. Thank you to the 3 Friendly Doctors (Dr Singh, Dr Jattan & Dr Julia) for being helpful and caring with me this morning.

Fantastic experience: After a massive fear of the dentist and anything to do with teeth, from looking at them, to talking about them and not even being able to deal with my sons wiggly baby teeth, it’s safe to say my fear of the dentist was big. After a bad experience at a previous dentist where they didn’t listen when I said I could feel everything. I didn’t think I would ever lose that fear. I was recommended Dr G at McIntosh dental. I had my first check up, cried in the room, was shaking and so anxious. He made me feel totally understood, supported and showed that he genuinely cares about my fear. We made a plan to get my teeth sorted. When I turned up for my appointment Everything was explained, the room was inviting with music playing and the TV on Netflix, he welcomed me with open arms. Fantastic experience: I would highly recommend the Mcintosh dental clinic. The whole team were very welcoming (Resecptionists, Dental Nurses and Dr G). Dr G was fantastic, he put myself at ease and really took the time to explain the treatment. After moving from the UK it had been stressful finding a practice that has standards that we are used to back home. I am very pleased with the service I received at the Mcintosh dental clinic and I will continue to use the Mcintosh dental clinic whilst living in Auckland.

Fantastic experience: After being a patient at McIntosh’s for several years I transferred to another clinic as we had shifted from West Auckland. Just days before going on holiday I was experiencing severe toothache and my new dentist wasn’t able to see me, so I returned to McIntosh Dental Centre, and they welcomed me back into the chair. After a root canal I was free of pain and free to leave on my holiday. A very sincere thanks to Dr Ian Kuan and his team. They were empathetic and extremely caring and thorough in their treatment. Since then, I’ve had a crown and am super happy with the result. I am very happy to travel the extra distance back to McIntosh's for my dental care.

Fantastic experience: My son's teeth look amazing after his Invisalign! The staff are super friendly and helpful. Invisalign was the best thing ever, no pain and really easy - and almost invisible.

Negative experience: Got the retainer wire behind my lower back teeth re-glued ($285 later), came unglued less than 8 weeks after getting it done. They re did it again for free and has already come unstuck again. The 2nd time they were re-gluing it she said it may not last long, wish I'd been told this the first time as I would have just replaced it to begin with and not wasted my $285, as 6 months later I am now having to fork out more money for a whole new one! Rung another place to get a new one all together and it's only $350 for a totally brand new one. This place is a rip off.

Fantastic experience: A place of true professionals and staff who willingly go out of their way to support their patients. Right from the minute you walk in the door it is apparent that all of the staff really do care and the level of respect (and manners!) between staff is also very evident. Before having dental surgery in 2022 a detailed plan and costs were provided of what was ahead and extra check ups were available when needed. Fantastic experience: A big shout out to the entire team at McIntosh Dental Centre. These guys are true professionals. They are very caring, very friendly and above all experts at what they do. I have just finished my orthodontic treatment plan with them and I am extremely happy with the result. I can now happily smile and laugh without feeling self conscious. Money well spent. My experience with them was so pleasant I decided to stay with them for my future dental care even though I now live very far away from their clinic. Fantastic experience: Really happy with the care I have received from this practice while undergoing Invisalign. All the staff I encountered were really friendly and did such great work. I used Dr Raniga, and worked with many of the other staff in my frequent visits for new aligners. I have nothing but good things to say about them all. Dr Raniga would pop his head around the door to say hi when I was in for appointments, and made sure he got the best results for me as he could, as did all the dental staff! I think I will actually miss coming in to see you all so often! (If you miss seeing your dentists, it means they’re good !)

Fantastic experience: The beautiful thing with a Lexus is that it has the reliability of a Toyota with sound proofing of a Rolls. To feel the weight of quality gives you a sense appreciation for those who carry passion in their toil. After falling asleep watching an hd screen of nature on the ceiling I awoke to a set of better teeth. Dr Mcintosh is like a music composer and the clinic a symphony. On the 1st appointment he laid out a plan which has left me with a mouth I can enjoy. No nonsense, treatments that make sense. Good value for money. If you want the best in their field, this is the place.

Fantastic experience: I Initially went to see McIntosh Dental to see what options were available to me as I have had crooked teeth ever since I can remember. I was quite anxious about going as I had not been to a Dentist in a while. Right from the word go - my experience was amazing. I was welcomed and made to feel comfortable immediately by all who worked there. McIntosh dental have a people first approach and this was my experience from both Dr McIntosh, Dr Kuan and the whole team they have working with them. I was given a comprehensive dental plan and an idea of what the cost would be that fit my budget. I have a new smile and am really grateful to have found a dentist that I can trust.

Negative experience: So I received a email informing me that because of my behaviour to staff at my appointment They will no longer be needing my services. Who's been fired by their dentist My experience ! Long term customer During my wait time I asked ‘ Do I need a pillow? ‘ After 30min of still waiting I said if the dentist isn’t here soon I’m going to leave After having me wait 50 min to see the dentist I had booked for and no apology Would you be joyful ? I never raised my voice ! I never said a bad word ! Fantastic experience: A really wonderful Saturday team, in particular Storme for listening to my concerns over the phone and the team for being able to squeeze me in when my orthodontic appliance (which were done by another practice) was causing me significant pain and my usual orthodontic service were nowhere to be found.

Negative experience: I used to go to this dentist in highschool and thought I'd try them again. I Had a consolation and two X-rays, the cost came to $280....After checking my teeth they told me that I needed several fillings and a clean. I literally had my teeth done(two fillings) by another dentist which said they were fine 6 months prior . At the end they didnt even discuss payment options or whether I actually wanted my teeth done by them. They wanted to charge me $3380 for 7 fillings and a clean. I called up later and said no thanks, the fillings they wanted to replace were also the same fillings they put in when I was 18.

Negative experience: $240 for a 20 min scale and polish? Receptionist ( analise? Or lisa something like that) extremely rude, very angsty and catty attitude, i was trying to book some xrays for fillings and she wouldnt let me without booking a bi yearly check up. I said i dont want or need a check up i just want a s+p and xrays/ fillings. I said well i cant afford the check up i'd rather just go somewhere else for that and she said a very condescending tone "well ill just take you off our client list then". I was so pissed off that I said fine, go ahead! and hung up. I have since registered elsewhere

Fantastic experience: Changed my life! I got my braces on with Dr Mcintosh and 14 months later my confidence has sky rocketed and embarked into my new career with a confident smile. Recommended to family and friends.

Negative experience: The service is great; however the charges are astronomical. I visited the hygienist just over a year ago and the full exam, clean and x-rays cost $175.00 which I thought was pretty expensive at the time. Went 6 months later and without x-rays etc. it was $98.00 which was much more realistic, I thought. However, I have just been again and got charged $273.00!!! They told me it was because they had done the equivalent of both appointments together which was totally untrue and I had no option but to pay. I only have 10 teeth left, all the others are artificial!!! No wonder people don't visit the dentist.

Fantastic experience: Brilliant Staff and facilities

Fantastic experience: If you're scared of visiting the dentist fear not! McIntosh Dental will sort your teeth out, without inflicting pain. The reception staff are very helpful and accommodating, making booking an appointment easy. The premises are modern, clean and well equipped. They even have iPads to play games on in the waiting room! The dentist who worked on my teeth (Dr Milan) explained the procedures to me well and laid out several treatment options for me, leaving the decision to me, which I liked. During my root canal Dr Milan stopped work at the first sign of pain and gave me more local anesthetic. The whole root canal took 90 minutes, but this was made much more pleasant as I could watch music television on the ceiling-mounted TV with headphones the whole time - so much better than staring at a blank ceiling! As for my wisdom tooth extraction I was rather nervous beforehand and Dr Milan and his assistant put me at ease. Under general anesthetic I felt no pain at all! McIntosh Dental's after-care was first rate, and they even called me several days later to see whether my teeth were feeling better. McIntosh Dental may not be the cheapest dental care you'll find, but they are very good. Like most things in life, you get what you pay for! I would highly recommend McIntosh Dental everyone.

Fantastic experience: This was a great experience, which started by being greeted by name, being seen close to the appointment time, then enjoying the friendly banter of Dr G, before getting down to the filling replacement. Dr G clearly answered questions, and outlined the procedure beforehand. I was given a choice to have a local, or not, and from the point of saying that I would have one, there wasn't a moment's discomfort, let alone any pain involved. Care was taken to match my natural tooth colour, and the assistant kept my mouth dry throughout the short procedure. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dr G to others, and feel no anxiety about going to this dentist.

Fantastic experience: Always provide good service and the receptionists make sure you're comfortable at all times and are really friendly!

Fantastic experience: I have been going to McIntosh Dental since 2009 and the service is excellent. I was very nervous going to my first appointment as I was only 13 years old however all the staff were so friendly and it was very comforting. My dentist, Eugenie, has been amazing, very reassuring when you're nervous, very informative so that you know whats happening and I'm sure all the other staff members are of this high standard.
