The Tooth Company Smales Farm

Fantastic experience: The Tooth Company at Smales Farm is excellent and has always been so. I’ve been a client for a long time and they’re always very courteous and professional. One time, a friend of mine from Hungary, who also has top-notch dental clinics, wanted to see for himself how high the standard was. He was extremely impressed. The only weak point is likely some people at their reception. Firstly, they forget to book you in, which is not good for the Tooth Company or the client. Secondly, they seem to be more absorbed with their computer screens. While this isn’t a terrible problem, it can be easily improved.

Fantastic experience: We are incredibly grateful to The Tooth Company for the outstanding care and service they provided to our daughter, Hermione, during a very difficult time. The staff were warm, professional, and reassuring. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Marcela Obst for her exceptional care and attentiveness and to Dr. Caitlin Agnew for her outstanding care, prompt referral and expertise. Both doctors, along with the entire staff, went above and beyond to ensure Hermione felt safe and supported throughout her treatment. Hermione is now steadily recovering and we credit this to the excellent service and dedication of everyone at The Tooth Company. We cannot thank you enough and highly recommend your clinic to any family in need of compassionate and quality dental care.

Fantastic experience: Marcela and her team are gentle and caring. All procedures are explained thoroughly. I have gone from an anxious only going if necessary patient to a regular checkup and hygienist going one. Thank you Marcela for caring not only about my dental health but me as a person.

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience today getting a routine examination with Marcela. She was warm, professional, and explained everything really clearly to me. I felt like I was in really good hands and left feeling confident about my teeth and oral health. I will definitely come back to this practice for any dental work I need done in future. Negative experience: Went to this dentist due to a work injury and they took an X-ray of the tooth, failed to identify a second broken tooth. Went back and they told me that they weren’t going to do anything to relieve the pain or stop it getting infected until it can be treated. If you can avoid this practice do so, not worth the time and general lack of care. They also are very overpriced.

Negative experience: Firstly, I don't enjoy giving one star because the staff are lovely. I had a crown done and was quoted $5000, I didn't think to check the price with other dental practises because I thought that would be the going rate. The crown fell off a year later, and they kindly put it back on at no extra charge. A lot of extra glue or cement was left on my tooth and when it started cracking off, I thought my tooth was breaking so went in and was charged for the appointment. It was a different dentist who also told me a filling, that was done at the same time as the crown, looked bad and needed replacing. Shortly after the hygienist prices got put up, so an hour appointment cost $355. I couldn't afford it, so I went to a different clinic and had an amazing hygienist experience for $160 for a 1 hour appointment with new fancy equipment and charging no extras for numbing gel etc. My new hygienist works out of several different dental practises and disclosed that a crown should max cost $1600, and that is for clinics with the newest equipment. I looked into it and could see that I have been severely overcharged. This is after being a client at the tooth company at Smales Farm for about 7 years. I find it deeply unethical to overcharge like this. We are a one income household and it's hard enough to make ends meet. We had to draw on our savings and put house repairs after flooding on hold in order to pay for this procedure. It is simply not okay, and I would not recommend going to this dental practise.

Fantastic experience: I had my wisdom tooth pulled out today by Dr Rusin and what an easy floorless procedure this was. A fantastic dentist easy relaxed and made the processs easy for me. Thanks team

Fantastic experience: Grady one of the dentists at The Tooth Company Smales Farm has recently moved mountains to fix my broken teeth after a bad accident left them looking dreadful. Whether it's an emergency, dental procedure, or general check up I could not recommend Grady and the practice enough for their level of service, attention to detail, and personal care. Don't hesitate, go to these guys.

Fantastic experience: Excellent service and friendly staff. My daughter required a tooth extraction and the dentist was so kind and made my daughter feel calm. The job was done quickly and proficiently with minimal pain post the procedure and the dentist even made a follow up call to check to see how my daughter was doing the next day. Highly recommend The Tooth Company.

Negative experience: Says you are open till 8pm, was closed at 7 please change.

Positive experience: From booking appointments to the treatments the tooth company at Smales farm are absolutely great I really recommend them first class indeed - a dental experience that makes you smile and makes your smile lovely

Negative experience: I was a patient for approx 7 years. During that time, I had the same dentist twice. The amount of staff turnover is remarkable, in a profession where continuity is important. Don’t be fooled but the Working ‘Sunday’ advertising. When I needed The Tooth Company most I was informed on the phone that “we currently do not have a dentist working Sundays” This was the final straw. I’m a patient person but even I have reached my limit. The Tooth Company, please remove my history from your files….. if indeed you managed to keep them. David Barr

Fantastic experience: I was looking for a new dentist and went in for a dental exam and X-Ray. This was my first time here and I had Dr. Grady Bower, he was excellent! Answered all of my questions and had a great professional demeanour. Will definitely be my dentist moving forward. Thanks again guys!

Fantastic experience: Hazel at Reception was wonderful in trying to accommodate our emergency case with our daughter. Shenika le dentist and her assistant were fantastic especially in educating us and informing us on each step and providing great advice for long term. Will definitely return to The Tooth company Smales Farm following the fabulous service we received.

Negative experience: Worst experience I've ever had at a dental practice. I came in to have a chip filled, this filling broke less than 24 hours later. Called them to have this fixed which they agreed should be free of charge. A few days later I found out from my insurance company that they still billed me for the second visit! It took 4 phone calls to 3 different people for them to admit that they made a mistake. Will never go back to this practice and would highly recommend they take the time to learn from this and sort out their business processes. 1 star only because 0 isn't an option.

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience with Dr G Bower. Dr Bower provided clear communication throughout my appointment. The appointment was pain free (enough for me to get a few minutes sleep!!). Couldn’t recommend him enough.

Fantastic experience: Hardly felt a thing. Amazing young dentist guy very articulate and well spoken. Extracted my tooth with ease and 2 weeks later no issues almost ready for crown or bridge options. They may need to explain parking better and where to find entrance as I found a security office first.

Fantastic experience: By far the best dentist I have been to - couldn't recommend Dr Bower and the Tooth Company any higher! Dr Bower was friendly, gentle and efficient, and did a fantastic job restoring my tooth (not to mention pain-free). Definitely the place to go for all dental work.

I will be going every 6 months for a check up and clean from now on - thanks to Hilary who I would highly recommend

Negative experience: Unfortunately, the worst dental experience ever. Normally, I would never leave a review such as this but I have tried to get an appointment twice for the tooth to be looked at again due to pain issues after the Tooth Company did some work on the tooth. After getting an emergency appointment elsewhere, X-rays showed very clearly that the replacement amalgam had been moulded and was touching the nerve inside my tooth, thus causing incredible discomfort. Phoned to say I was in a lot pain and discomfort, was told no appointment for a week or two. $415 later for a tooth extraction, (luckily at the rear of my mouth) with a very lovely dentist @ Dent1st, I am pain free.

Fantastic experience: Highly recommend and appreciate the emergency appt I got with Dr Susan for my toddler who was in excruciating pain with possible infection in his tooth. Under Level 4 lockdown on a weekend, there was nowhere I could got an appt even WhiteCross dentist wasnt available. Called in the Tooth company and they booked in to see my son within 3 hours (thanks Emily). Initial appt pricing is pretty standard. Excellent communication through out. Thank you.

Negative experience: I dont know where to begin, had multiple bad experiences and both times were people who were casual fill in dentist. First one tried to remove a splint holding my tooth together and accidentally removed enamel permanently damaging it. Secondly, they called me in for an appointment in attempt to pay for a $7k crown that i didnt need, then expected me to pay for the consultation. Rip-off!

Negative experience: I have been going to Britomart branch for years, and just switched to Smales Farm branch as its closer to my house, first time all good, second time due to Covid and lockdown two cancelation which is understandable, but when i went for my hygiene appointment they charged me $245 as i always paid $195, when i asked. the lady went inside and aske a manager or someone else, came back and said because of covid they put the price up!!!! my partner also goes there which he had appointment yesterday and paid $185. so i had to call and asked why they charged me for the same service they charged me 245? so they called me back and said because my appointment was 1hr and my partner was 45min, i just dont underestand.... at first why would they say, they put the price up because of covid, but now tell me because my appointment was 1hr instead of 45 min? and they told me why im not going somewhere else? wow.... of course I am going now. poor customer service. i undrestand the price for 45 min to 1 hr may differ but not $60

Fantastic experience: I had such an amazing experience with them. Dr Ashliegh is such an amazing and kind person. Very professional and extremely helpful. Explains everything so well and is happy to answer all your questions. So happy with the filling she did for me. Can't recommend her enough!!!!

Fantastic experience: Managed to crack a tooth in half over the Christmas period. Santa sent me Ashleigh and her colleagues. Compassionate and professional. A refreshing change to be greeted by a team more interested in your care than the cost. Very reasonable bill. I will be moving all the family to the Tooth Company. well Done.

Fantastic experience: Very compassionate and professional team, can’t recommend them enough. My retainers suddenly needed fixing on a Saturday and the clinic at smales farm were one of the few dental clinics open. They looked to fit me in on their already packed schedule and I was seen so promptly. Every process was explained and the they had a high degree of care and my teeth is feeling a lot better :)

Fantastic experience: We went there for our 3yr10mo son for multiple tooth extraction. We saw it all: he was unable to sleep in the nights, not able to eat any meal properly, got swelling, got blood from one of his infected tooth. We then decided to stick with Tooth Company, and finally got 8 tooth extracted(yes, you read it right ) with 4 other saved/fixed through a ~1hr GA sitting. Dr. Angel and the team were very dedicated, professional and even promptly followed up next 3 days to ensure complete healing. Now we are pleased that he is back to eating food, and very active, so much so that we didn't even realise his inactivity and dull behaviour prior to surgery was due to persistent tooth pain.

Negative experience: The tooth company cancelled my wisdom tooth extraction less than 2 hrs before I was due into the clinic with a pathetic reason (they don't have the right equipment). The receptionist called to confirm the appointment an hr prior to cancelling it too. So pathetic and unprofessional.

Fantastic experience: Empathetic, gentle, understanding, AMAZING. Ashleigh by far the best dentist I have come across. My son and I were a wreck when he came in at short notice and Ashleigh was brilliant 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ is not nearly enough.

Fantastic experience: Epic place, wouldn't go anywhere else. Have had 2.5 hr full mouth dam 4 cavity treatments that I fell asleep during, they were so gentle. Another time I had been stressed from work and couldn't breathe or swallow and so started crying, but they were so careful and the hygenist sat there sweetly dabbing at my tears with a tissue the whole time. Hold your hand and distract you gently if they can see you're afraid of needles kind of thing. Jonathen is amazing! Great price for service as well.
