Central Dental Surgery

Negative experience: Our son had a 9.00 am appointment. To cap one of two teeth. From the start the dentist was totally unprofessional. He was administering laser treatment. Our son jumped in pain. The dentist enquired why. Why...because our son could ACTUALLY FEEL IT! Oh I forgot the pain relief injection! REALLY? The dentist then administered the injection. ONCE AGAIN our son jumped in pain! Oh...he..the so called professional dentist... forgot the numbing cream Who is this dentist? At 11.30 am the dentist advised our son. He would make up the cap and our son should return at 2.00pm for a half hour installment appointment. I delivered our son promptly at 1.45 pm to Central Dental for his half hour appointment. And waited outside. At 4.00pm I rang the dentist to enquire where the hell our son was. I was told by receptionist... I will call you back. REALLY... Our son emerged at 4.15pm. Over 2hrs LATER. WITHOUT any pain relief or follow up information. Totally unprofessional and lacking any kind of empathy toward patient wellbeing. NEVER GOING BACK

Fantastic experience: Kiran at Central Dentists is fantastic. Very thorough but most important of all, gentle!! I have had several dentists over the years and Kiran is by far the most gentle and obviously very considerate of my experience as a patient. Highly recommended.

Negative experience: Should have saved myself the time hassle and money and not gone here, recent reviews don't lie this place has gone backwards majorly. If you want to leave frustrated, annoyed and ripped off this definitely the place to visit Wellington. Would not recommend.....

Negative experience: I was really disappointed with my experience. The dentist I saw seemed bored and uninterested. I've been referred to a further appointment by a specialist in late November so I'm now waiting for a few months in pain. I'd like to go again for a second opinion from a different dentist at the same place as I've had previous good experiences. But this time, with the dentist I got, very disappointing.

Fantastic experience: Dr Josh and the staff are great. I had a condition which made it difficult for me to undergo any procedure but they gladly accommodated my specialist's request and made the dental treatment work for me.

Fantastic experience: Dr Joshua is an excellent dentist. He's efficient, kind, and very good at keeping a patient calm during the appointment. The support staff are also caring and good at their roles. I'll continue to encourage those who don't already have a preferred dentist to go see Dr Joshua.

Fantastic experience: Great service - quick, thorough and professional

Negative experience: I went here for an emergency check up - turns out I had an impacted wisdom tooth that had got infected which was why I could barely open my mouth. The dentist I saw gave me an X-ray but got mad when I said the metal thing in mouth was hurting me so I couldn’t bite down all the way. He wasn’t able to get a clear enough X-ray and said I need to go to another clinic in two weeks for a better one. I told him I was leaving the country in a few days and he got mad at me again and angrily prescribed me some antibiotics saying that it WILL get infected again before I came home. The experience was horrible, the tooth never got infected again, and team at Gentle Dental are amazing and kind

Fantastic experience: Went to Dr. Irina for fast braces treatment and was constantly astounded by the professional and personable nature of everyone at Central Dental Surgery. Despite various external disruptions the team kept me in the loop and I felt supported throughout the whole process. They were clear about price and it hasn't cost me a penny more than the quote (despite these interruptions and even taking a little more time to achieve a better result than originally anticipated). Dr. Irina took real pride in talking me through the process holistically, she was really invested in my dental health and it was great to have that support. I won't need braces again (they have been great in scheduling follow ups and support) but if I did I would go back to Central Dental.

Fantastic experience: I have an unreasoning fear of visiting the dentist. I cannot say that Rob has completely removed that fear, but his care for me and acknowledgement of my emotional state have given me the strength to cope. I now remain relatively calm before and during whatever procedures are required. I do not "forget" appointments or otherwise prevaricate. I have no problems with any of the dentistry that I have received.

Fantastic experience: AMAZING dentist, I am from the UK so this was my first visit to a NZ dentist. I did visit a dentist across the road who was said to be cheaper and had a terrible experience. It was a relief to visit central dentist. My dentist knew exactly what he was doing and explained to me each step. I felt confident I was in the hands of a professional dentist. First visited after breaking my jaw years ago, and despite living in Sydney and Auckland since then, haven’t changed dentists; they are that good.

Fantastic experience: I've seen Rob a few times, on the Tuesdays when he works at this location. They always seem to be able to book me in extremely quickly, which is great. Rob is a total straight-shooter when it comes to suggesting what needs to be done. On one occassion he saved my wife well over $2k, to fix something that another business quoted as being a minimum $3k procedure. He also saved me on doing extra work that isn't specifically neccessary to my situation, but others might have suggested I do it since its common practice. Basically if you need something done right and don't want to get charged ridiculous uneccessary amounts, see Rob.

Fantastic experience: I use Central Dental surgery service for some years and I can say they have a very high level of professionalism in work. I can tell about the recent example of this service. I'm 84 and I lost a lot of tees and every loss was very unpleasant. But some days ago Irina extracted my tooth and I didn't notice it!! Thank you, Irina!
