Fantastic experience: Like most people I always dread having to go to the dentist/hygienist, not sure why it may have to do with the dental clinics when I was at school… Anyway I recently had a hygienist appointment which was well overdue after having my son. What an experience it was. Ellen is wonderful she made me feel so at ease and WOW she is such a hoot! I can honestly say I have not laughed so much in very long time! What started as a nervous, apprehensive approach to my appointment ended with me grinning from ear to ear and booking my next one

Negative experience: Just rung for price on tooth extraction, as I have severe tooth pain for 3 months, was told $290 I told receptionist I couldn't afford that and that I was on benefit. Her reply was oh right. There was zero communication about subsidy with a community services card. I have tried not to go to this dentist since covid because another receptionist made me feel like I had a contagious disease. Not only that I have also had a plate that needs to be replaced because the tooth that was originally holding it in place is gone. This is why not many people especially beneficiaries go to the dentist, because you are rip offs who have zero customer service

Negative experience: Been coming here for about ten years now, had always been friendly. Had a 45 minute clean and polish this week the hygienist(Chelsea I think) was fantastic, she had done her research by checking my file, knew I had a back injury so checked I was comfortable throughout the procedure, knew I was on medication and informed me of how my medication affects my gums, her good nature and professionalism made my appointment pleasant, yes a pleasant dentist visit lol. Other visits of extractions, check ups and fillings were done professionally and with care, if I had to find a negative it would be the price I've paid for all visits ,but I guess that's dental care in general, and at least I'm getting great service for my money. Had always recommended Halswell Dental Center, UNTIL..this xmas, 2024, I was let down by the team, I seen a dentist here a week before xmas and had a filling and told I would need an extraction in the future but won't be done that day, 5 days later I was in agony, 24th, 25th Dec. I was in Hell, ambulance called and injected for pain and had the tooth extracted on boxing day at emergency dentist. Xmas ruined. I had rung Halswell days before xmas day but no answer and no message regarding xmas hours, I emailed asking to be contacted re if shut for xmas already and when opening and no reply, very rude. A week later a xmas hours message had been added. On my visit The dentist was obviously to inadequate or lazy to extract my tooth that day and resulted in a ruined xmas. Very disappointed.

Fantastic experience: I suffer from a bit of anxiety and told them beforehand. They were absolutely amazing about it, Lizzie and her dental assistant were INCREDIBLE I couldn’t have asked for anyone better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Oh and the Staff/receptionist were very very lovely and welcoming. Great job team keep up the good work

Fantastic experience: Absolutely outstanding service and care from Halswell Dental Centre. The reception staff were all very helpful and friendly when booking appointments over the phone, and again very welcoming and lovely when we arrived for appointments. Dobson was amazing with both of my children, they are incredibly nervous and stressed going to the dentist and Dobson and his nurses(we had different nurses each time) we're amazing with our children, they helped them feel at ease and did everything they could to make them comfortable. I am incredibly impressed with all areas of Halswell Dental Centre and could not have asked for better service. Thank you very much!!

Fantastic experience: We are so grateful to Dentist Lizzie and her team for a positive dental experience today with our 6 yo son. After a rushed unsuccessful experience at our local community dental clinic- leading to a referral for dental treatment requiring sedation, and an unpleasant initial assessment at another chch children’s dentist where I was talked down to by a dentist with very poor communication skills, we found our place at Halswell Dental Centre. Thankyou Lizzie and your wonderful team for your care today. You are extremely good at looking after young children and their family.

Fantastic experience: Lovely experience with Halswell Dental. The reception staff are kind and helpful and my dentist Lizzie was outstanding. She was understanding and non judgemental. For nervous patients like myself Halswell Dental is perfect as they offer different sedation options that don't break the bank. I'm no longer scared to go back to the dentist :)

Fantastic experience: My 3 year old daughter had a wonderful experience at this clinic. Knowing how anxious my daughter can be when it comes to unfamiliar places, let alone dental appointments, it's amazing how her dentist, Lizzie, was able to do all the procedure that has to be done for her, with so much ease! While driving back home, my daughter said, "I love my dentists, they're so funny " (referring to Lizzie and Lydia). Highly recommended. : )

Fantastic experience: I was booked in today to see Zinta and his lovely assistant Ruby for a tooth extraction. This is my second tooth removed at this clinic. Although all of the staff are wonderful, these two in particular were absolutely amazing! My favourite so far. Very professional and caring - answered any questions I had with depth and clarity. Also made me feel very comfortable in an uncomfortable situation. In addition, the admin ladies were very kind and courteous. They were able to fit me in the same day I called for an emergency extraction. Highly recommend, I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Fantastic experience: I’m currently 33weeks pregnant and needed an emergency extraction done 4days out from Christmas. These wonderful ladies bent over backwards to get me seen the same day. Lovely clean clinic with very accommodating staff. Rebecca the dentist was absolutely amazing first time I didn’t have an anxiety attack while having dental work done. I couldn’t recommend this wonderful clinic more !

Fantastic experience: IF YOU ARE SCARED OF DENTISTS READ THIS :) I've been going here for years & always have found them to be professional and good. Yesterday I got the lovely Ellen for my hygienist clean. GAME LEVEL UP. Honestly. She is too good at her job, incredibly gentle while being so very through. I almost feel sorry for her because every client is always going to want her. If you are in pain or nervous, choose this lady. She is amazing, I can not recommend enough.

Positive experience: Dentist was very calm and explained information well. Receptionist lovely. However the Dental assistant was rude , which let down the experience.

After calling around a lot of places to find somewhere for an emergency appointment for a 7 year old, Lauren was lovely and squeezed her in and then Rebecca the dentist was great with her - really reassuring and kind. Such great and kind service

Fantastic experience: Very impressed with their wisdom teeth expert. I'm someone who deals with bad anxiety and he made the whole process super easy and made me feel comfortable throughout the whole appointment. I would 100% recommend this dentist.

Negative experience: unfortunately sometimes people dont understand dental anxiety and mental illness, so if you want to go somewhere who is empathetic to anxiety , it wouldn't be the place to go, also if you are low income it seems to really effect the way you are treated, i had a few trips here as they offered gas sedation , but due to a misunderstanding with my anxiety and fear of dentist which i dont even really understand what ive done wrong as they wont tell me'' they put a note saying they wont allow me to visit, i feel very embarrassed and have been made to feel ashamed for who i am and what i struggle with, the manager will not have any discussions as to how to resolve what ever the issue is, i dont understand that, i have spent a lot of time fighting the uphill battle with anxiety, some people dont understand it , its just a shame my family are robbed of using a service due to multiple reasons, 'the reception lady is lovely and very understanding, have tried to speak to the owner as this is important to us as our entire extended family use this dental service, but havent got a call, so best to find another place if you have anxiety and you need soft gentle treatment , and if you are low income i wouldn't use this service .

Fantastic experience: Was super impressed when I got a dental hygienist appointment the same day, other surgeries are booking into the next year. The surgery was clean and well appointed. My appointment ran to time and the hygienist Kelsey did a great job on my teeth. I was grateful that the supplies they sell like floss toothbrushes etc was very affordable just like the appointment. Great staff, service and surgery. Highly recommend.

Positive experience: I had my wisdom teeth removed here only a week ago. During each of my visits the reception team, the dental assistant and the dentist were absolutely wonderful! The dentist took time answering my 101 questions patiently and explaining my options so I understood what was happening. The dental assistant was smiley and welcoming, and the receptionists were very helpful and kind on the day of my removal. They were also very non-judgmental regarding my worries about costs and were quick to put me at ease. Having had some less than wonderful experiences with other dentists in Chch, I'm genuinely glad I have finally found a practice I and happy and comfortable with. Thank you and keep up the awesome work!!

Fantastic experience: Very welcoming team. I've seem both a Dentist & Hygienist, both very amazing & thorough. Explained everything well, always checked to make sure I wasn't uncomfortable or in pain. Great for giving advice. Highly recommend.

Fantastic experience: I rate Halswell Dental highly. Rob is fantastic, so kind and patient. My mum who has dementia see's him and he is so good with her. I have referred 5 people to Halswell Dental and all are pleased they have gone here. Prior to having dental work done I'm advised of the cost so there are no surprises.

Fantastic experience: I have been going to Halswell Dental Centre for about 15 yrs. I only have great things to say about the staff there. Dental teams are friendly, well trained and I have never come away in pain or unhappy. The reception staff are helpful & always welcoming. I recommend them to anyone who says they have a toothache or needs a Hygienist.

Negative experience: Looking for a new dentist. Last time I went they charged me a lot of money and did nothing. Tooth still painful. I thought they might have contacted me to tell me *why* and what to do about it, but no follow up at all. Just took the money and said goodbye. Now I need to find another dentist, and go again.

Fantastic experience: Did not go to dentist for over a decade, smashed teeth, really unappealing and embarrassment (fear) wept me from going. None of the tut-tuts or lectures. Cant believe what Vivienne and company achieved. Wow factor with family. Wow, really, really wow. Life changing. Wow.

Fantastic experience: I never like going to the dentist at the best of times , but Halswell Dental care staff are Amazing they care and look after you. I wouldn't smile, I had teeth missing and had one tooth at the top that was going black, I felt really uncomfortable. Halswell Dentists and Denture team brought life back to me with a beautiful smilerecommend

Negative experience: Overpriced. Almost choked and dentist stood back and said stop choking. Poor customer care and Saftey procedures.

Fantastic experience: Hi, I had to visit Halswell Dentist to get a filling replaced with anticipation which was not the case, firstly the staff and surroundings were very pleasant and the treatment was the best I have ever had, I didn't feel any pain at all. J. Powers
