Negative experience: Urgent care, Came 4pm paid $160. They told me waiting time about an hour. Waiting 2 hours. And after 6pm. Told me another 45mins. Ridiculous. Recommend people go to shore Urgent center.

Fantastic experience: Had great experience with urgent care yesterday. Staff at the reception were super nice and polite. The nurse was lovely as well and the doctor that saw me was efficient and gave me good advice. Was in and out pretty quickly

Negative experience: Called and enquired how much it is for urgent care if not registered at Silverdale for a scholar/ student, was told on the phone $105, arrived there and the front desk insisted that the fee to see the GP for 15 mins is $160.....absolutely ridiculous amount and couldn't/ wouldnt/ didn't want to find out why someone else there had told me a different amount. The front desk staff wasn't interested, didn't ask any questions about the student and had less than zero interest or willingness to assist. Just a money making racket and totally overpriced for the service or lack thereof received, also limited/ restricted to a strictly 15 mins consultation and no longer, how the hell do you make a full assessment in that kind of time frame at those rates in this economy.....If I could rate in the negative numbers I would

Negative experience: Add an extra 30 mins minimum to your booking time. If you think your appointments 4:30, nope it’s after 5pm. Consistent long wait times and poor reception service.

Brett Mills 9 months ago

Negative experience: Wife was enrolled. Called to make appointment. They had just decided to unenroll her. No notice. No letter. No explanation. Would expect more from medical professionals but I guess they care more about money than patients. Receptionist is very short toned and incompetent. Couldn't even advise what gp she used to be registered under. If you're after a gp that cares about your family, stay well away from this one.

Negative experience: Absolutely shocking service. My mother in law had just come out of hospital and developed an awful med condition. She waited for hours with many people going on before her with very minor med issues. The staff was rude and couldn’t give any information on when she would be seen. Might as well have gone back to the hospital would have been quicker. Pathetic for the price you pay for urgent care.

Negative experience: Somehow, I've been caller number one for twenty minutes, and when I got my son to call as well , he was caller number one also? It's been half an hour now still no answer?

Olivia Kennedy 11 months ago

Negative experience: Hold your script for ransom because they have a policy that you have to be checked up by a dr there every 6 months to continue at a cost of $80 each time. This despite being with them for 5 years and this is the first time you’ve been made aware. Obviously they are trying to milk patients for more and more money. And when you complain, you get told that unfortunately it’s just tough going!

Negative experience: I went to consult with a GP but was met with a nurse practitioner instead who just used google to answer my concern. such a waste of time and money

Hamish Haak 11 months ago

Negative experience: Called many times to get my results. An automated message told me every time that I will get a call back. Didn’t happen. I have been waiting for a call back for 3 days now on my blood tests which I had done 12 days ago. USELESS.

Lucy Yang (lucy) 11 months ago

Negative experience: I want to complain to your front desk. I had an appointment with a family doctor at 8:30 this morning. I arrived on time and told her my name and the doctor I was scheduled for. She asked me if it was an accident, and I said no, and she asked me to sit down and wait for the doctor. It wasn't until 9:15 that a girl at the front desk said she forgot to sign me in, so I couldn't see the doctor! I have been discriminated against more than once! I am so sad to be discriminated against when I am sick!

Negative experience: 10-15 minutes is not enough for a GP consultation! I feel for the doctors but this is utterly ridiculous.

Negative experience: One of the worst experiences I've ever had! I spent 10 minutes there, paid $160, and they told me they couldn't help me. Instead, they sent me off to Northshore Emergency, and to make it worse, they refused to give me a refund.

Adele Zara 1 year ago

Negative experience: I'm extremely disappointed with the service I've received at Silverdale Medical. Previous visits have been a disaster. Despite arriving on time, I was forced to wait outside with my 5-month-old baby and 4.5-year-old son due to my son's vomiting. I was instructed to text the clinic upon arrival, but after 30 minutes, they claimed they never received my message and had given our appointment away. We waited 55 minutes to be seen, which was unacceptable. This isn't our first poor experience at Silverdale Medical. I've also had ongoing health issues for five months, but every time I call, I'm put on hold for hours, only to be told a nurse will prescribe medication without actually seeing me. Furthermore, I've had a disturbing experience with one of the nurses. When I took my daughter in for chronic diarrhea and high temperatures, the nurse undermined my concerns, implying that I was struggling as a parent. Her unprofessional behavior left me in tears. Fortunately, my husband reported the incident, and the nurse was made to apologize. Despite having an excellent doctor at Silverdale Medical, I'm appalled by the clinic's overall service. I wish there were alternative medical services available in the area.

Negative experience: For those who have young children/babies, I suggest you go to Starship hospital instead of Silverdale Medical. It costed me $155 to get my 8 months old seen at Silverdale and we waited for around 2 hours with a screaming baby who was in pain. While I understand that they are not funded by the government, the price is shocking. We ended up going to Starship a few days later and got seen straight away. The parking is a lot cheaper than $155 fyi.

Kyle Muir 1 year ago

Negative experience: I would rate this zero stars if there was an option to. I have been a member of this practice and left. Like many others had multiple shocking experiences here and the price continues to sky rocket. The most egregious incident was my wife had strep throat and they told her to go home and rest. They only ever screened her over the phone and never physically examined. When I complained they hid behind policy and doing the bare minimum they're legally required to do. When we arrived at a different urgent care they mentioned having a steady stream of patients from this medical center and they were well known for this behaviour. Additionally, they are hundreds of dollars more expensive than an urgent care 20 minutes down the road and waiting times are measured in multiple hours. They appear to be more interested in extracting the maximum of money possible from peoples wallets than providing care. The staff turnover is high and even when they do eventually see you, you will never likely see the same person twice. I only come here if I have no other choice and I expect to be milked for all I am worth in the process.

Negative experience: Since June after-hours have changed the price for an enrolled child with CSC from $15 to $45 a visit. The signage is misleading staying $15 for after-hours but in small print $30 surcharge added.... Ridiculous!!!!

Negative experience: My partner came here due to dealing with bad symptoms (without giving too much away). The doctor put him on antibiotics and did some urine samples and tests. A week later the antibiotics were done and my partners symptoms were still so bad, with excruciating abdo pain to the point he couldn’t walk. He went back and said it’s not gotten any better and if anything the pain was worse. The doctor said his tests came back normal, besides his white blood cells being up, and just extended his antibiotics and said it was probably a UTI. Which made no sense to me considering the urine test came back normal. I also questioned, why he would just give him the same antibiotics and send him on his way again, without further investigating his worsening symptoms. $300+ dollars later. A few days went by and my partner couldn’t leave the bed and was in excruciating pain, so I had to take him to the hospital. We ended up getting seen straight away, long story short, we got transferred from north short hospital to Auckland, at midnight. For a urgent CT scan, ultrasound and further bloods which showed his white blood cells and inflammatory markers had almost tripled. Luckily it wasn’t anything that needed surgery but he spent a few days in Auckland hospital on strong IV antibiotics. As the ones the doctor had given at Silverdale were the wrong ones and not working. This is pooor service from this doctor for not considering further investigations the SECOND time he presented which then made this whole process longer and more painful than it needed to be. The doctor should of questioned why my partners symptoms were not getting better. My partner wasted his time and $300+ even coming here and we will never come here again.

Negative experience: The charge to see the doctor after hours for a newborn was $150. The level of care was substandard. It was brief and very quick. Wait time was 1.5 hours to be seen by the doctor though, I think is the norm after hours. Lucy serving us at reception was very nice.

Tyler Newman 1 year ago

Negative experience: I strongly advise against seeking care at this medical centre due to their egregious billing practices and substandard service. They impose excessive charges, including a recent $10 fee simply for sending an email. On multiple occasions, I have been subjected to prolonged waiting times, seemingly designed to incur additional "after hours" fees. Last year, they refused to see me for three consecutive days and informed me that they would only treat me if I were under 18 or of Māori or Pacifica descent, which I find discriminatory and unacceptable. As a result of their refusal to provide timely care, my wife and two children contracted the illness I was suffering from, an outcome I firmly believe could have been prevented with proper treatment. To add insult to injury, both my wife and I have experienced misdiagnoses at this facility, further calling into question the competence of their medical services. This pattern of overcharging, neglect, and improper treatment is deeply concerning and has had serious repercussions for my family's health.

Negative experience: If I could give a zero I would. Went in because I had vertigo. The doctor looked at me, gave me a prescription for anti nausea pills. Didn’t even try to fix it and spent 10 minutes telling me I should be getting regular checkups. It cost me over $100. Told a friend about it and she sent a diagram from google to fix my vertigo instantly from google. Don’t waste your time with this inept, money hungry supposed medical practise.

Fantastic experience: I took my then 6yr old son to urgent care as his condition deteriorated while sick with a viral illness. My son usually hates visiting the doctors and he was pretty anxious about being there. The reception staff were very kind, the nurse who triaged my son noticed how anxious he was tried to make him feel comfortable as possible, but the real highlight was Dr Olly Walton. He made my son and myself feel relaxed instantly, he cracked some jokes with my son and made him laugh, which made my son more willing to let him examine him. I couldn’t thank him enough. I wish he was my son’s doctor!

Fantastic experience: The staff here are great. I came in last week for an infected finger and was seen to quite quickly considering how busy it was at the time. Dr Adrian, Dr Ollie, nurse Natalie and nurse Anna were great. They helped me get the treatment I needed and made sure I knew what was going on the whole time. Kudos to the whole team.

Fantastic experience: Our family came here today (July 7th) because my three-year-old son accidentally broke his head while playing at home, and there was a wound about a centimeter on the back of his head that bled a lot, and we were all very worried. We were very well helped here, all the staff were very nice, the medical staff were professional and caring, we were from China and did not speak English well, the staff gave us the utmost kindness and understanding. They worked hard to make my child feel comfortable and cared for the most during all the process. I am very grateful for their dedication, we are very happy to live in Gulfharbour and thank you for having such a professional and caring medical staff in Silverdale. (The above text was translated into English through an electronic dictionary, and although I am working on my English, I am clearly aware that I am not gifted in language, so I am very grateful to all the people who have been kind to me.)

Fantastic experience: I was there 3/7/24, spending 4 hours there. Had a good experience. All the nurses and receptionist are very nice to me. I would like to say thank you for Christina Austin. She is an experienced and skilled nurse. She assessed my knee and told me my both MCL and ACL ruptured. And MRI result shows the same thing. Thanks so much for providing an accurate diagnosis.

Negative experience: They have some amazing doctors here if you can get onto their roles. Wait times to get to see your own GP can be very long. The online booking system is fine, unless you need to see a doctor sooner. Then good luck trying to find an appointment through their online system. You will also be unable to get through to the reception much of the time. Waiting room is not child friendly at all. If you are waiting in urgent care with children then you are going to have a bad time. Receptionists are quick to tell you off and criticise when your children begin to get bored. Which in an aesthetically sterile environment doesn't take long. I've contacted the clinic and offered solutions and to do the work/donate to resolve this issue and they declined while providing no other solutions. This doctors clinic is fine if you are an adult. I wouldn't recommend if you have kids.

Negative experience: Terrible!!! Told me to come back early the next day for an xray and someone would see me quickly. Haha!!!! After waiting over 2 hours I left without my results. Every 40 minutes they told me it would be another 40 minutes. Not enough doctors. I had a business to run and had paid a lot of money the previous day to be seen. Avoid this place!!!!

Fantastic experience: Today I was seen in urgent care. I was in severe pain and was seen swiftly. All of the team were extremely kind and accommodating. (Thank you Chrissie and team) They made sure pain relief was adequate, did multiple urine samples, ordered bloods and advised me on what to do if the pain returns/symptoms worsen. (the prognosis was renal colic/kidney stones) Every time I've been here for either an accident or urgent care, the team have been lovely & thorough. Am considering transferring to their doctors clinic now. Thank you team.

Fantastic experience: I presented at Silverdale Medical with a head wound. From check-in and throughout my almost 3 hour appointment I was treated so well. Thank you Dr Cho, Hayley and Megan and all the other nurses that helped throughout. I was so impressed. I had come prepared with a book, a few snacks and drinks in case there was a long wait. I think the negative reviews are from people who think you can just walk in and be seen. So much is going on and there are limited doctors and nurses who are being pulled from pillar to post and really do have to juggle patients depending on their symptoms. Be kind to these amazing professionals who really are there to do their best in some very trying circumstances. Thank you Silverdale Medical Staff!

Negative experience: A patient of Dr’s Red Beach but had to use silverdale medical centre this morning due to Red Beach being closed. Had to pay $200 (hefty for advice I could’ve given myself) before being seen and after about an hours wait was seen by a Dr who did not introduce herself and was given the advice to go home and take ibuprofen after being sick with an inflamed throat and pain for the second time in 3 weeks. Reception staff were lovely but other than that, not the best experience. Would not recommend.

Negative experience: If I could give a zero I would This medical practice is nothing but a privately owned, greedy, money hungry outfit that has no empathy for patient care and happily will take your money before you have been seen and even if you don't get seen, you loose your money... They do not deserve anyone's money Took my unwell daughter in, who isn't registered at silverdale due to her being under specialist care elsewhere for another condition. They wanted payment up front of $150.00. We got diagnosed by the receptionist, and then diagnosed by the nurse (illegal at a start) which in turn made us wait for a few hours, which by then I needed to ask about wait times as it was getting close to having to collect my son from school. This medical centre is very poor on communication with people in the waiting room, I ended up having to leave due to needing to get my son. No mention of refund, even when I emailed the CEO I was brushed off as was meant to get a response in the time frame for them to look in to it but still nothing ... Definitely do your research in finding a suitable practice for your family as they do not care about you They need to have staff that are there for urgent and non urgent... but then again they just want your money ...

Negative experience: Shocking treatment by the doctors. I broke my shoulder and they refused care. They misdiagnosed a hand injury on another occasion meaning I was treated incorrectly and now have ongoing issues and they insist I keep coming in to see them when I require acc assistance. They get rebates from acc for care yet charge a 40 dollar surcharge. This is pure double dipping. They are more interested in profit over care.

Negative experience: Arrived at 8.40am Saturday morning and prepaid $200 (yes $200), there were eight other people in the reception area, so a little busy but apparently two doctors on duty. After an hour wait, at 9.40am I was finally seen by a triage nurse and moved to a chair to elevate my leg and await a doctor's availability. After another hour wait, at 10.40am I walked to a nurses room and inquired when a doctor might be available but received a vague response and was informed that if I couldn't wait I could get a refund at reception, which I did. I then drove to Northcare, arriving at 11.15am paid $99, was triaged at 11.15am saw doctor at 11.35am collected prescription (in-house pharmacy) at 11.50am. Such a difference.

Negative experience: I have had 1 good experience in 3 years, the other 6+ have been terrible, on top of that they constantly raise their fees making medical care in silverdale unaffordable for families in need. Would not recommend them to anyone. They do have some great doctors but their management lets them down completely.

Amelia Evans 2 years ago

Fantastic experience: We have consistently had good experiences here but yesterday was the best by far. After presenting to urgent care with back pain, fever and numb hands I was promptly seen by the triage nurse and then Nurse Practitioner Chrisy. Chrisy took the time to thoroughly check me over and didn’t cut any corners. Unsure how long exactly we were with her for but I’d say it was at least 30 minutes. Instead of just sending me on my way - she listened to me, assessed me thoroughly as well as running in-house tests in hopes of gaining more of a diagnosis. She then spoke with the North Shore ED who agreed with her I was best to head their way and warned us of a long wait (so at least we were prepared!). The team yesterday arvo were absolutely incredible. Highly recommend and a big thank you to Chrisy!

Negative experience: Had a visit on the 7th September for my son as he was not well and managed to get an appointment the same day. The receptionist asked if my son had any symptoms I said that he had a runny nose and a cough, then said I need to do a test on him to make sure he is negative, I told her that I've not done that before on him and her reply was good luck with that. That is very unprofessional, it's not that easy to do that to a child.

William Moss 2 years ago

Negative experience: As long as you pay they are happy. I had chest pains then get blood pressure taken and bloods done. Followed up with a text to say you are healthier than 90% of people your age see you in 5 years. Yet I was still getting chest pains, there is absolutely no interest in following up and finding the issue. You are a dollar bill coming through that door. Family doctors do not exist here.

Lynette Theron Moss 2 years ago

Negative experience: There should be an option for 0 stars. What an appalling excuse for patient care. Do not waste your time or money going here. My husband has been experience severe ongoing chest pains - his first appointment he was left waiting for an hour and then seen by a doctor for a total of 10 minutes (he was charged $70 for this). He was sent for blood tests and told he was fine and to come back in 5 years. He had to request a referral to a cardiologist (Silverdale Medical charged him $30 for this). Still no follow up and he's still experiencing severe chest pains and an elevated heart rate. He went to North Shore hospital yesterday and is still awaiting the results. Today he has been send a bill from Silverdale Medical for another $50 with the reference number the same as yesterdays hospital admission number but he has not heard anything from anyone at Silverdale Medical. Meanwhile he's still having chest pains and there has been literally no care or concern to find out what is actually wrong with him.

Fantastic experience: Went in well experiencing anifilaxis, had been having cold symptoms so was worried they would fool about worrying about covid well I felt like I was dying. The nurse came straight out seen my swollen face and decided to get me in straight away helped me walk to the room offered wheelchair, didn't waste a second in treating me which I am so grateful for because it was probably the most scared and helpless I have ever felt. Thank you so much to the beautiful nurses and the handsome doctor who worked quickly and proffesionally to get me stable. It was a very rough and hard experience but they made me feel safe and comfortable, like I was in good hands and they really cared about me. I don't know how bad it could have been but it felt like they saved my life. And I can't say thankyou enough.

Kirstene Grant 2 years ago

Negative experience: An absolute joke of a medical centre, both visits in urgent care for my daughter have been beyond disgusting (firstly she was given the wrong diagnosis, leaving her with scares, 2ndly being told after 4hr wait that bleeding out of a private area is not an emergency, with the arrogance of a white female receptionist saying she's alive and breathing which means my daughter is not serous or urgent). Absolutely horrendous place and will never be returning again, especially not in urgent care, not one bit of care in this medical.

Fantastic experience: Dr Esther Loh did a fantastic job of looking after my rather nervous and sick 3 year old at the viral clinic. I definitely recommend her. My child is recovering well post her care. I also highly recommended Dr Longworth for children. We have seen him at his previous clinic and followed to Silverdale Medical due to outstanding care. The receptionists were friendly and booking an appointment was far more pleasant than other clinics. The nurse who called to triage my daughter and decide how urgent she was and how soon a booking was to be made, was also wonderful. Overall a very great experience.

Negative experience: They made me wait 30 minutes before telling me to go home because they couldn't help me.

Negative experience: If I could give a 0, I would. They don't value your time or your health, just a money machine for whoever owns it. And cowardly management who won't reply and engage with customers who have valid complaints; all care, no responsibility. No idea if the medical staff are any good, but the admin side is worthless. Strongly recommend finding another medical centre rather than endure this one. Hopeless.

Negative experience: Annoying to say the least Only booked 3 appointments 2 of those cancelled, rebooked in for the same day but only phone consult available Dr went through symptoms etc and advise he would arrange for a nurse to call me so we can do some in person tests. No call from nurses, followed up thrice - still no reply. Receive a text 5 days later that I need to book another appointment face to face to go over tests. Which means another $65 for something that was supposed to be arranged with the nurses. Call reception not helpful, just messengers, and sadly face the brunt of it. Basically needed medical assistance, received the invoice before any contact or word from GP/nurse and now I need to go back and pay more!!!!

Fantastic experience: We had to make two trips to the urgent care facility at Silverdale medical last week. The wait was short (40 mins the first day and 20 mins the second day). The staff were incredibly caring and welcoming. The receptionist, Christine, was very kind and empathetic of our situation, and the nurse that we saw made sure I had somewhere comfortable to sit with my toddler while we waited to see the doctor. Dr Adrian was extremely patient with my son and went above and beyond to try and make him happy and comfortable during the consult, needless to say he was pretty pleased about getting to watch Baby Shark on the doctors laptop and even play with his stethoscope. We saw dr Michael on the second trip and he was also great and brought out bubbles to cheer up my son. It was such a positive experience! Very grateful for their care during what was a very stressful time for us.

Fantastic experience: All the drs I have seen have been absolutely amazing. I understand how difficult it must be for the medical staff at the moment because of how busy everything has become. There was one bad experience with a nurse who is no longer there although all the other nurses are absolutely amazing. One of the drs diagnosis saved my life and I am forever grateful. We have had a rough journey with our little Marlee and everyone is always asking how she is and especially our Dr (David Hassan) who is so caring will go over and beyond for us.

Negative experience: Need to improve viral clinic communication. Was given an appointment at weiti, then sent to silverdale only to be told to wait 4 hrs to see someone despite having an appointment confirmed. We’ve been living with Covid for over 2 years now so please look at how you can sharpen this patient experience up. Not ideal for a patient 1.5yrs old!

Fantastic experience: My family and I have used urgent care services, GP and nurses' services here and the staff was always very caring, friendly and accommodating. I can only praise them for great work. Yes, there are COVID protocols as is everywhere nowadays but that's understandable and it is with best intentions. Thank you for your great work!

Fantastic experience: I recently had to attend the after hours clinic and can't fault the service I received. I was seen quickly, the triage was thorough, and the doctor I saw took the time to collect a complete history, do a full examination and was persistent enough to ensure my ongoing investigation was done promptly. Thank you very much for a compassionate service at a scary time.

Negative experience: If there was a way to put no stars, I would. Please avoid this establishment where possible. Bookings or any general enquiry is a difficult process, always made to use an online portal that proves to be challenging for any aged member of the public. When requesting a booking in person, staff declined to comply and was told online bookings through the portal was the only option. Wait times to see your personal doctor can be 7 to 10 days - not ideal when your ill. Reception staff are rude and unprofessional, no acknowledgment to people standing and waiting for service, personal conversations between staff take priority over patients. Pricing - this is unreasonable. Being charged $30 for referral fees and $65 phone consultations that last barely minutes. $28 prescription fees - which is reasonable if the service reflected the charge. We had been with Silverdale Medical for 20 years, slowly seeing a decline in every aspect. If you want a medical centre that genuinely cares about people and not profit - please find another centre. No empathy - No care - Never an enjoyable experience.

Negative experience: We were told to wait outside in the cold for a nurse to see my son and then after 20 mins they call and say no they can’t see us. No heart or kindness, treated like they didn’t care about his health.

Negative experience: Gynaecology - Dr Reshma Desai Wife saw her. A couple of probing's, pushing on the stomach but no diagnosing my wife pain and no mention of it. We payed a lot of money for nothing and a waste of time. We should have going to the appointment i made for her in Remuera with Dr Praveen - that was my fault for thinking someone closer to home could be better

Fantastic experience: Yesterday morning I came into your clinic very scared, stressed and in a panic. From the front I called out to a man and said my baby is having difficulty breathing. Without any hesitation he had me straight in the building and into a room where my daughter was seen too immediately. Through my panic he asked questions so calmly and got the details for my girl. The nurses and doctors that cared for her were absolutely amazing and were so calm with me when they could see my distress. The ambulance arrived within minutes and we were off to waitakere where my daughter was admitted overnight. We are currently still in the hospital. I wanted to say a very big thank you to all who helped me and my baby girl yesterday. You are all absolutely wonderful Thank you so much From a very scared mum, that you put at ease

Positive experience: This is not an urgent care for medical. Make your way to Shorecare or a Whitecross instead. I didnt even realise this until i was told today on my family's third visit. The website says urgent care. This should be updated to urgent accident care. Doctors have been lovely but will make our way somewhere else next time.

Negative experience: The good experiences were fantastic (even 'till recently) but the bad ones outweighs the good ones by far. Got spoken to by staff as if we're medical professionals and we "should have known". Also no regard for parents having to wait outside in the car with small children. I understand the precautionary measures but surely this isn't the only solution. Bit of "customer care" could sharpen up the rating for this place. Honest review, if by appointment, with no covid symptoms (as simple as just a cough) then great place, however urgent care, no urgency or compassion in my opinion.
