Fantastic experience: Pain level was now at a 10..it had been growing over the last 3 days..so I finally called Garden City Dental early on Sunday morning and a bright and smart receptionist instantly organise a booking and I receive my patient enrollment forms via text and everything was sorted. I arrived and was seem by an amazing Dentist. Who did a through and professional assessment of the offending tooth including an x ray. The plan was to save the tooth and it was agreed to angle grind the top of the tooth as it had been striking the upper tooth. So ample pain killer was applied and the job was done. The cost for a Sunday consultation and the tooth process was $175.00 which I was very happy with. Thanks to the entire team . In summary it was fast, high quality and great value. It was like being in a formula one pit stop with all the attention I received. THANKS

Negative experience: Really dissapointing experience. I went in seeking some urgent dental when a front veneer detached from a tooth. I spent about 30mins with a dentist who seemed decent - though he had only just started there and didn't know where anything was...which wasn't helped by his assistant in the room that was equally unaware of where things were stored. The work was done and I went out to settle up. This work was under an existing ACC claim which I let them know. Unfortunately I didn't have my ACC number and was surprised to hear that they were unable to aquire it and I had to pay up front then get reimbursed later. OK. The cost was $450 which I balked at for such a quick and simple fix..no products or resources were used, just a little glue. About a week later I tracked down my ACC number and let them know. Here's the issue - it took them 3 weeks to get the money from ACC claiming it's ACC delaying (I know ACC aim for a maximum of 5-10 working days). Then I was asked to provide from account number assuming the money would be coming ASAP. That was 3 weeks ago and STILL no reimbursement. What angers me is the duplicity. If I owed them $300 they'd sent collectors after me. This wait has been utterly unacceptable with poor communication and no acceptance of the situation by them. Oh and the work done, that veneer refixed, it fell off again 2 days later so it was all for nothing. I certainly won't be going there for any emergency stuff and urge others to consider other options too.

Fantastic experience: Could not fault the service provided by Garden City Dental, they promptly got back to me after leaving a message, when I was trying to get an emergency appointment for some very troubling tooth ache over the weekend. They fitted me in that morning to see someone. Dr Ahmad Alani and Chris his assistant were awesome. Ahmad is a lovely man, very kind, listened to my concerns and was sympathetic, he did a tooth extraction x 2 and it was pain free and effortless. I am very grateful to you all for helping me in my time of need, the whole experience was great.. Thank you so very much Ahmad - keep up the great work, your manner and your warm nature is comforting as a patient. You were awesome. :)

Negative experience: Do not go to this dentist. They told me I needed $3,800 worth of dental work. I went to another dentist for a second opinion who said it was just a broken filling. They showed me a photo and even I could tell. It's now fixed and perfectly fine. Don't trust these dentists.

Negative experience: I see it's under new management and had 2 fillings to be done they were going to charge me 460 dollars each so I rang around to my surprise I was quoted from a few others at around 200 dollars each I rang them to see if they could adjust the price but the person on the phone didn't seem to care so canceled my appointment I will now be going somewhere more cost effective

Fantastic experience: I've been going here for a number of years and wouldn't change . I'm always treated with compassion and respect. I've had some not so straightforward issues to deal with and they've always given me good advice. I have 1 more wisdom to come out and won't go anywhere else.

Negative experience: Recently had an appointment here for some simple dental work. The dentist was fine, not particularly talkative and didn't walk me through much of the procedure but did okay. She notified me at the end that she had pricked herself on the same needle she had used on me and asked if I had any bloodborne diseases or anything she should be concerned about, I said no and she sent me on my way. I paid and left, and on my way home a receptionist called and asked that I get a blood test due to the prick, she did not inform me of a time limit or anything just that it had to be done soon, she was pretty blunt and not particularly warm. I told her I'd be able to collect the form soon, unsure when exactly I'd be able to go collect it. I booked a blood test for the following Monday as that the only time I could book and that worked for me. I was called the following afternoon by the same receptionist who very rudely informed me that I had to have it completed within 24 hours, despite not having told me the day before. I tried to explain to her that it would be very difficult for me as I was just about to leave for work and was working the rest of the week. She was not understanding or kind at all, openly sighed and tutted on the phone, I told her I'd call her back and see what I could do. After that phone call, I broke down, She really made me feel as though it was my fault, even though it was the staff or lack of protocol in place. It was just very hurtful especially after spending over $1k for mediocre service and treatment. My partner called her back to inform her that I couldn't do it that day and that we'd have to sort something else out, again she was very rude and snippy and said that she'd get the manager to phone us back. The manager or receptionist never called either of back. I did in the end manage to do it that day, making me late to work and despite the stress and upset it caused me. This was all very unfortunate and avoidable. I have had good experiences with staff here before but this entire ordeal has ruined it for me. I really hope they have since done training with staff to prevent further issues/confusion.

Fantastic experience: Well,I live a long way from chch and I had a bad abscess in a tooth.I rang the clinic and they said they would see me on the Sunday so I headed off for chch and was seen by Amelia who was great and she removed the tooth and dealt with a very unpleasant infection,I had no problems and very little pain! On the next visit I had a broken lower wisdom tooth, at 64 with really large roots on my teeth I knew this would not be fun,I not going to lie it was not a great experience,but not through any fault of the team that worked on it,they were great and very professional and I had no infection or any excessive bleeding, highly recommend,I will be back for sure.! Negative experience: Gone downhill massively. This place seems to have lost all their regular dentists and just gets externals in which means it's a nightmare for any additional work as they always try booking you with the same one again. Can't even get an appointment to fix the bad work another dentist from here left me with. Avoid at all costs.

Negative experience: Been going here for 6+ years called up about a hygienist appointment that was canceled…. I was told to shop around and look elsewhere… Honestly not sure what happened here will not be going back.. very disappointed after many years

Negative experience: Have not had the greatest experience here. Spent alot of money on teeth removed pins put in an new teeth ontop at the front an also other fixups . They didn't seem to want to know about my wisdom teeth and I can see from later reveiws on why they sent me to another place for pins . The crowns or capped teeth are super sore an they keep telling me I will be fine . It's not okay an I wouldn't recommend going here if you can help it .

Fantastic experience: I recently had a molar tooth rebuilt by the excellent Swati after chipping off a large piece while eating. This was the best dental experience I have ever had. I was able to get an appointment within 48 hours. Swati listened carefully to my concerns and adjusted the approach accordingly. I felt no pain during or after and the end result is smooth with no impact on my bite.Highly recommend Swati and Garden city dental, thank you.

Negative experience: Trying to ring as I have a dental emergency and don't know if I need to go ER and no call back or response even though it says open until 10pm. Come on. What's the point of an after hours dentist.

Negative experience: The customer service lacked professionalism I was advised by her she was just being lazy,rang to make an appointment it took 5 calls 2 put on holds ,I think she's not answering the phone.

Negative experience: Unless you want to end up in the ICU in an induced coma with sepsis, don't ever get your wisdom teeth out here. Due to the dentists negligence of not cleaning the fragments of teeth out of my socket properly, I developed an infection that could've cost me my life. Go to an oral surgeon and don't let these money hungry people take your $$ Poor poor service, never got my money back either which was the least they could've done after they almost killed me. Do not recommend.

Fantastic experience: Sympathetic, understanding and very knowledgeable. I have called him twice now in 2 separate emergencies. His accent is a bit thick but he is very good.

Negative experience: The amazing dentist I enrolled here for, Preena, has since left. She was the reason I put up with the disorganised, unhelpful and often rude reception staff. A number of examples. I travel 45mins from home only to find they had cancelled my appointment. Just sent me away. One report from a specialist was sat on for over 2 weeks and I had to chase it up with them. Quite a serious issue that I needed my dentist to be made aware of, they still didn't pass it on to her. I think I chased it 3 times in the end before I actually got hold of Preena and she had no idea that the report was sitting there. More recently I was referred back from my oral surgeon and again, reception sat on the referral for a week. I then asked for a price for the required work (crown on an implant) I thought that was a relatively simple question. Was told 'around $4k'! What? It's for 2 crowns right? No, one. 'oh then around $2k.' I explained that money is a bit tight and I'd need to do some budgeting. Followed this up with an email requesting a more definate amount to be sure I had enough. Totally ignored the email. I work in health care reception and would never leave referrals unattended to for so long. I am shocked that they are so poor. Perhaps they are horribly overworked?

Fantastic experience: Professional friendly service, from the reception to the dental chair, every staff member I encountered during my visit, left me feeling respected and comfortably relaxed. Sometimes in high stress situations like visiting a dentist, people become fragile and emotional, i did not feel that way here. Yes dentistry is expensive, but here the latest techniques are employed, i requested to forgo the numbing agent, (that can test the dentist's skills). My dentist was very accurate with her processes, I thought she was amazing. Thank you Garden city dental team. I appreciate you.

Negative experience: A few years ago, I had a dental filling here. Recently, when I went to another clinic for a root canal on the same tooth and took an X-ray, I realized how bad their work was. Just look at that overhang from the filling, people don’t need to know how to read X-ray even can see something is wrong!

Negative experience: The receptionist is really grumpy. I tried booking an appointment today, she says they don't have any soon, but she'll put me on the cancellation list. I tell her ok, let's do that, but when's your earliest appointment actually available? She replies with "I told you we don't have any appointments!". She told me eventually when it was, but that was an odd initial reply. Judging by the name and the accent, I think we speak the same first language and even in this language the way she spoke wouldn't be considered particularly polite or appropriate for a customer service role. It's not uncommon for people in healthcare to be rude back home, but why bring the same attitude here? Also, don't be fooled by that "open 365 days" wording. Idk how stars have to align for you to see one of their dentists when you suddenly need it before Christmas.

Fantastic experience: Just had an emergency appointment with Lawanya for a broken tooth. She was so lovely and explained everything to me. This has been the very best experience I have had with a dental practice. Totally pain free and felt relaxed with no anxiety. Totally recommend them. Very happy

She was so careful to make sure I wasn't feeling any pain throughout. I'll never let fear of the dentist stop me seeking help again. Thanks Imogen! Negative experience: I am very upset, they advertise that they are open until 10pm as an emergency dentist, but the night I was in severe pain and after trying so many times from 1930 to get through on the phone. I decided at 2000 it would be faster just to get there to get help. To my dismay they were closed and it wasn’t even 2100. This was very stressing as had I known I would have tried another dentist. Due to this I was going to have to spend a night in severe pain as over the counter meds weren’t working or go to an already overloaded emergency department. This is not good customer service, if you are not going to be open then change your hours.

Negative experience: Nothing against the them personally, they are very nice and kind to deal with however, I've had all my fillings from them (just there's) fall out over the last few years only there work and tonight's one made me write this review, have my lasts ones done overseas by my wife's dentist and they haven't fallen out, why is that? I'm gutted I didn't take her dentists offer to get them all redone, guess I'll have to get another "temporary" until I can go back overseas when I can get ones that lasts.. For the price you pay in nz you expect them to last...

She was such a knowledgeable, warm friendly dentist and explained everything she was doing. Really happy and have booked back in to see her again on a regular basis. Fantastic experience: My Partner had broken her tooth thurs nite, rung friday spoke to George who was awsome to deal with made a appt for sunday 9am on arriving was greeted by Dr Rafaela S.Luque who presented as very friendly, took my partner thru hour later tooth repaired like new! Lesley was on reception was also very friendly.. My Partner was very anxious going to appt/ but found the whole experience postive well done team ... and a big thank you..

Positive experience: Friendly reception and dentist, reasonable pricing, open 8am till 10 pm weekdays/8.30am till 5 pm weekends which is handy opening hours, offer after pay and finance...only negative is that I Had to wait just over half an hour to be seen for my 5.30pm appointment! but in saying that, I was notified of this immediately which is far better than most late appointments of which don't give you an idea till you ask so props for that.

Fantastic experience: I don't usually leave reviews, but in this case I have to. After an accident my friend recommended Garden City Dental, as she had previously been in a similar situation to me and had a positive experience with them. The team at Garden City Dental have been great to deal with. They handled all the ACC admin and paperwork on my behalf. Ben is fantastic, he made me feel very at ease and talked me through exactly what he was doing and happily answered my many questions along the way. Reception/Administration staff were also very helpful & easy to deal with.

Negative experience: Although I have been going to Garden City Dental for years but today is the worst day. A week ago I had the second wisdom tooth removed on the left bottom. I experienced terrible pain the following day onwards. Thinking that it is normal after the tooth extraction so I took pain killers for 7 days but I didnt get any relief from the pain. I rang up and I was told to see the dentist as it may be due to dry socket. I have never heard of this before as this is the first time I come across dry socket. I was booked on 5 May at 2pm. The reception woman with a foreign accent was very rude to me. She kept on saying they are opened 24/7 and I should have known about dry socket and ring them. I said I DONT KNOW ABOUT DRY SOCKET and I thought the pain was due to the extraction. I had to RAISED my voice on this rude woman who doesnt showed any empathy at all and indirectly blaming me that it was all my fault and she said they are not to be blame. I never said I blamed them. I just asked to changed to another dentist as I am not on the same page with the dentist who extracted my wisdom tooth. I DID NOT BLAME THE DENTIST but this foreign accent woman kept saying IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. SHE KEPT REPEATING THAT MANY TIMES AND SHE PUT WORDS IN MY MOUTH. I AM VERY SICK OF GETTING THIS TYPE OF TREATMENT. EVEN my husband said this woman looked very hard and unfriendly. I agreed with him a 100 per cent. She was rude, not forthcoming and indirectly blaming me for everything. I really dislike such kind of unprofessional person who was defensive and offensive.

Negative experience: First visit to a dentist in Christchurch from Australia and have balked at the $280 price tag for a filling. It was also a small filling as per the dentist. I was uneasy the whole time, my dentist was not very personable and did not help me feel comfortable. I have no issues with going to the dentist and recent work in Melbourne done included several fillings and a wisdom tooth extraction which gave me no problems. I left this clinic shaking and crying. I required two lots of extra numbing as I could feel the drilling, this could be due to my tooth or the placement of the numbing injection but this has never happened to me before. My entire side of the face was numb including my eye ball and towards the end of the filling I was shaking and had gone very quite. Neither the dentist nor the assistant noticed and when finished just ushered me out the door as we had gone over time trying to remove a lip in the filing that had just been completed. The receptionist asked if I was ok but attempted no follow up or even looked me in the eye. I got to the car and cried. Now 4 hours later am starting to have the anaesthetic wear off more and have pain in my jaw and significant discomfort opening my mouth. I emailed the practice this morning but have not received a response. I should have read some of these reviews before attending!

Fantastic experience: To say thanks, same day appointment, but what has stood out is how kind, caring and compassionate receptionist was. There are a few unkind reviews about her but she was amazing on the day, and i rang back day 3 as swollen still, she explained about the wound and took time to reassure me its to be expected as well as to let me know they open over Easter.

Fantastic experience: I have had absolutely fantastic treatment and care from Ben Taylor and his assistant on removing difficult wisdom teeth today and a couple of years ago. Prior to a tooth removal, I actually enjoyed the experience of the descale and filling I had today. My experience with the reception staff has also been positive in all communication with them on both the phone and in person. It can take some time to get an appointment, which is not surprising in the health sector currently, but they are worth the wait. Thanks for your wonderful care team. :0D

Fantastic experience: Had an appt yesterday with Elena Lazarus, to reglue a crown that came out on Boxing Day. Consult, treatment, X Ray, notes for my dentist, along with friendly staff, cost $100. Very reasonable for a very busy practice working 24/7. Receptionist was very welcoming. 5 Stars!

Negative experience: Rude Receptionists, shotty dentists Would not recommend, would recommend to avoid. Showed up on Saterday with tooth pain, told philipa that my 4th left upper tooth hurts and she took x-rays and told me I don't have a single cavity and my wisdom teeth need to come out and i just have sensitive teeth. booked it in for Monday and I asked the the dentist yovon if he is sure It isn't that tooth and he told me I actually have 4 cavitys in my upper row off teeth. They pulled the wisdom as he said it would still be causing me pain. Now this may be a shock but it wasn't and I forked out money for that tooth to come out before it was painful and had to get the tooth I originally said was painful filled. Came back on the following wensday where the Receptionist only "penciled" me despite calling twice to make sure it is booked. Showed up on wensday and told that I may not be able to get it today as apparently it's my fault I didn't call 3 times to make sure? Yovon and I belive Michele (the dentist on wensday) are two competent dentists, Philipa seems to be not. I would stay well clear of this place unless you like to be mucked about and random teeth pulled out.

Negative experience: My partner had a swollen mouth due to absese.went there under a emergency situation today...reception nothing short of rude ...prescription has been sent somewhere..not to where we asked . Cannot get thru to them even tho they open till 5pm ..always a voice message...overall a poor experience and very stressful for my partner

Fantastic experience: I'm petrified of the dentist, and Lucy was very good with me. Offering me choices and taking her time with me. While I am still terrified, Lucy's empathy, patience and professionalism helped me get through it

Negative experience: I love my dentist, she's great. Also the other dentists are all lovely. But the staff are horrible, they are rude, customer service is bad, they don't care about you or your situation, you are only a date to them... a payment. You'd think with the cost of the procedure that you'd be a priority, but u put on hold as soon as u call for 15 minutes then hung up on, some lady with a foreign accent... great services for your teeth but don't expect anything less then that...

Positive experience: 4 stars for the dental treatment I've received and for Kathryn, who is a gentle and fantastic hygienist - would highly recommend. I took away 1 star for the slightly cold customer service I've received at times in reception, both over the phone and in person. Other than that, I've had a pretty good overall experience with GCD. Thank you.

Fantastic experience: After requiring urgent dental work, and surgery on wisdom and adjacent tooth, I can share with you my following experience. Very caring staff, right from the front desk, though to the dental team. I was respected, reassured and informed every step of the way. Special thanks the Rohit Bedi, and everyone involved in my care. I highly recommend GCD for all levels of care. Thanks Team, keep up the awesome work.

Fantastic experience: I have had 3 appointments at GCD - a dental checkup and 2 hygienist appointments. Every staff member I have received treatment from has been incredible - communicative, gentle, and completely non-judgmental and incredibly empathetic. I have had a lot of rough dental/ortho treatment from other practices, and just assumed that was to be expected from going to the dentist. The staff at GCD clearly work hard to make the dentist a safe place for patients. I struggle with mental health issues, so sometimes oral hygiene can be low down on the priority list, which can feel incredibly embarrassing, but I’ve received so much encouragement from Jennifer, Amy, & Kathryn and felt genuine aroha and empathy from them during my appointments. I cannot believe I was seeing other dentists for such a long time! 100% highly recommend :)

Negative experience: Extremely poor communication.

Negative experience: Very bad customer service! Rude receptionist and dentist! They were both very angry with me just because I was only a couple of minutes late. I had a really bad toothache and the dentist was not understanding at all and she was very rough with me while she was examining my teeth even though I kept telling her that I am in so much pain but showed no sign of sympathy! It was just a horrible experience and I wouldn’t recommend anyone to go there.

Fantastic experience: My teeth have always caused me stress and anxiety and this is the first dental practice that I have ever been to that had made me feel fully comfortable. They’ve worked with me at my own pace to improve my oral hygiene and attitude towards dentistry. I can’t say I look forward to it yet, but a few years ago I would sit shaking in the chair absolutely terrified. The days leading up to it would also cause me a lot of stress. Now, I am much calmer and I am confident that it will be a positive experience. Preena is so caring and kind, she offers advice and support and I cannot recommend her highly enough. The receptionist is lovely, the nurses hold your hand if you need it and both hygienists I have met have changed my life. I am so grateful that I found this practice and I think that you anyone would be lucky to be treated by this team. I do note that covid has been tough and it is very hard to get appointments now. Every business is suffering similar issues and hopefully the staff are able to navigate the tricky time and come through it. I have just booked very far in advance to ensure I get the times etc that work with my life. The receptionist said they do leave appointments for emergency treatments.

Negative experience: I went to Garden City Dental as I had broken a filling, too their credit they were able to see me very quickly. However the day after the filling was done I had a massive bruise come out on my face. When I rang them the Practice manager was very off hand and indicated that this can happen. After two weeks I could not open my mouth properly, and I had intense pain inside my mouth, spreading up into my ear. I went to my Doctor and and had to get Medication as the TMJ joint was damaged during the dental treatment. Cost more than it should have done as I had to pay for a Doctors visit. Phoned them back to tell them... the receptionist couldnt have cared less. Overall a bad experience and 'terrible customer service. They are lucky to get even 1 star from me.
