Negative experience: Absolutely do not recommend… the so called director of papatoetoe/manukau clinic was the most extricating A/H I have ever had to deal with… they are time wasters and liars and this is based on several personal experiences…absolutely nothing nice to say about them at all…DO NOT RECOMMEND … save your money for a practice who actually cares about their patients
Negative experience: Booked appointment on phone for removing tooth, they said start from $180.00. Got there they did xray and cleaning I dont know what for when its ready to be removed anyways, Indian lady said will be $200.00 for that, okay. Tooth removed came out to pay she said $300.00, not honest and definitely wont be coming back

Fantastic experience: Good experience and good value for clean and xray
Negative experience: Reception doesn't help at all. Says they will send an email to me and it's been 2 weeks now. Called multiple times and all she says is yes.. ok I'll send it now and you can tell she won't because it doesn't sound like she wants to be there. Use to be a good practice but unfortunately now its rubbish.
Negative experience: I booked 2 months ago firstly the doctor was not available at the day i book it has to be rescheduled then the doctor got covid so again 2 weeks my appointment was delayed then i booked for 10:30 one day before they informed me its 10:15 then i went there with a newborn baby i was only 10 mins late they cancelled my appointment and didn’t give me a refund as i paid through GrabOne its a complete scam never go there very dissatisfied
Fantastic experience: By far, Dr. Matthew is the BEST dentist I've ever been in Auckland (I tried 4 before him). He is efficient, delicate and kind, he takes the time to explain every step of the process and all the option available for you. I would 100000% recommend him to my family and friends.
Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Guardian Dental Care. Especially to Doc Matthew Davies, He is excellent dentist, he explained every detail to his patient, and the right information, very professional. He really wants to make sure that their patient is satisfied and happy.And also to DA Linda Decal, she's very friendly and very attentive to detail. Staffs are very accomodating and welcoming, they always make that their patient feel comfortable and relax.
Fantastic experience: Dr. Mathew is incredibly professional, and made me feel comfortable from the moment I sat down in the dental room. He explained every process in detail so that I knew what was happening for the entire process. I went in for a general exam and hygiene clean. He was thorough, yet quick. Negative experience: While staying in AK went in for a routine scale and polish. Squirming in pain when the dentist kept hitting the wrong spots and she kept apologising. My teeth began aching even while she was working. Afterwards tried to scaremonger me into $3k worth of ‘apparently’ needed work even though no X-rays were taken to confirm anything. My teeth ached in 4 places so badly I couldn’t eat for days, and for months on one side especially both the upper and lower jaw that had been damaged. Had to see my dentist who told me that over vigorous scaling had removed 1/3 of a filling now creating infection = root canal, along with 2 more teeth needing fillings refilled. This has cost me thousands in repair work. My advice is do not risk it, not even a simple scale and clean. They’re cowboys.

Negative experience: I would give minuus stars Receptionist is so rude, doesn't know how to talk. No social etiquettes how to talk to patients. This is the second time i experienced, i would never recommend this place to anyone.
Fantastic experience: I went in for my first dental exam and scaling/polish today at Manukau Mall branch and was greeted by a wonderful vibrant group of professionals. Customer service here at Guardian would have to be the best hands down Thank you for catering to my "once upon a time" insecurity and giving me not only confidence but allowing me walk out with one less flaw!! Matthew and his team were attentive to every detail from explaining every step they took, x-rays to what I would need to use moving forward even asking for music selection for my procedure - they really took care of me. Very satisfied with Guardian Dental's service and Dentist in charge; Matthew Davis and his great team. An absolute gem! Thanks guys. My new go to Dentist crew

Fantastic experience: Amazing service. Dr Yang and staff were all very professional yet personal. They not only managed to fit me in on the day after I enquired (and I emailed in on a Sunday) but also completed what I needed to have done wonderfully. Even staying way past their closing time. Truly appreciate the informative and patience Dr Yang and her staff went through with my procedures. Highly recommended and I will definitely book in to go again. This time with way more notice haha

Negative experience: They not even worth one star...so disgusting and unprofessional. Few days after the filling is out..i get told the dentist is not there n its not their problem. The manager is laughing at me while m standing there in pain and agony. To add more to it. She bring security when i asked her to get me refund so i can go to another competent dentist....please donot come here or waste ur time, energy and money
Thank you for your review. We have met as a team to reflect on your concerns and the feedback. It has helped us understand this issue better and the facts must be stated for the benefit of everyone. Aisha called our reception and said she was unable to chew on one side and wanted to see the dentist the same day. She got a filling on her last visit a week ago. She was advised over the phone that the dentist who treated her was not working on the day she called and we need to consult with the dentist who was working on the day in question, if she could fit Aisha in her already busy schedule. We had two emergency procedures that morning and we were running 30-40 minutes behind schedule, not to mention working without a lunch break. Aisha snapped and said "that's not my problem. I finish work at 3.30 pm and I'll be there" and hung up. We left a message with the dentist working that day regarding Aisha’s concerns. We were so flat out and were not sure how soon Aisha could be seen that day. At this point, we had informed our next few patients who had an appointment that day to come 30-40 minutes late owing to our delay. At 3.30 pm, Aisha showed up at the reception. She was informed by our staff again that we were trying our best to fit her in and she must wait for some time, if she wants to be seen that day. Aisha started yelling and demanded to be seen immediately. She was interrupted by the manager and she was given the following options. - She can wait for 30-40 minutes and as soon as the ongoing patient’s treatment is over, we’ll take her in and give her some pain relief. - She can wait until the end of day and come back at 6 pm (we close at 5 pm normally but that day we had to extend till 6 pm) for pain relief/ examination and procedure. - She can go to the hospital or another clinic who is able to see her immediately. She blatantly refused to take any of these options and asked for a refund immediately. We told her that if she is dissatisfied with our service, she can get a refund and we explained our refund policy to her. She was not willing to listen, she started berating our staff and service so loudly. She went so out of control and started using profanity in front of other patient sitting in the reception. She was asked to calm down and mind her language to which she said she won’t. She was warned that if she doesn’t behave well, she will be asked to leave. She became irate and ran to the surgery room and barged in on another patient who was getting her treatment and yelled “I need help; you give my money”. At this juncture, the manager called the security for help. The security arrived immediately and when Aisha was asked by the security to step outside, she refused. The manager was asked to step outside for a chat and she obliged. After mediation, Aisha left without giving us a response. After the incident, we spoke to the dentist who gave her the filling and went through the treatment notes. Based on the notes, we can see all the warnings were provided and the procedure was carried out correctly. In summary, we tried our best to accommodate her interests and we offered help. We gave her options and offered pain relief. She refused to accept any of it. She had utter disrespect for the privacy of another patient and the dentist. Upon presenting such a transgression, the security was called for help, which is our company policy. We take pride in our team and any threatening behaviour toward our staff will not be tolerated. We have no obligation to treat anyone who has a disorderly conduct or doesn’t behave well to our staff.
Fantastic experience: Great Service....Great Staff..this is the second time i have been in this clinic for treatment....I am glad that i chose this clinic..so kind and Caring Dentist Matthew...i pulled out my wisdom tooth from them..they were fully booked still they treated me after hours cz i was in pain..Matthew is the best ever dentist i couldn’t feel any pain while treatment n Dentist Matthew is so gentle n kind...thankyou for everything

Fantastic experience: Price:Bought a scale, clean and polish which was a reasonable price through Groupon voucher; this is a yearly thing I do to get discounts on dental work I need done. Reception: Informative and helped me sort out voucher issues. Dentist: I can safely say Dr. Matthew is one of the best dentists I've come across. Firstly, because prior to going in he sat down with me and had a general conversation about what to expect. Secondly, took my x-rays and helped me read them aswell. Third, answered all my questions. Highly recommend this guy. Might just stick with guardian dental just because of Dr. Matthew and the service provided by reception.

Negative experience: Went here for a exam, clean and polish. The procedure was done by a female (unsure whether she is qualified) who made it very painful. Never experienced such pain with other dentists. The first thing she asked was whether I wanted xrays done which I declined. After that, she rushed through the procedure. I left with bleeding gums all day long. They also never carried out any exam of the teeth.

Negative experience: Disgusting customer service. My mother was diagnosed with cancer on the weekend i was due for my appointment so we had to rush down 7 hours from Auckland to see her. I called asking if there was any chance we could reschedule due to our pretty horrible circumstances. No was the answer we got. Even after i explained everything we had been going through the reply was "your voucher has run out so we will not be giving you another appt. She then hung up on me and refused to answer the phone. Never go here. EVER. EDIT FOR THE REPLY BELOW. I did not try to reschedule 4 times ?! are you a company that thrives off lies? i asked your receptionist asked numerous times over the phone for her managers/bosses number or email address and she flat out refused. Your receptionist is a disgusting human. YOU DID NOT OFFER TO MAKE ANOTHER APPT FOR MY PARTNER AND I. now i lose out on $110 because of your messed up morals. you should be so ashamed of yourselves. Without compassion and understanding in this world we are nothing but animals & this practice has shown it is full of nothing but.

Each time a patient misses an appointment without providing proper notice, another patient is prevented from receiving care. Our weekends are one of the busiest days of the week and we can't afford to decline treatment for those who are in dire need. Negative experience: To ANYONE looking to go to this dentist. DO NOT GO HERE!!! My first experience when I came in to have a examination and clean, was fine. The dentist Matthew was lovely. It all went downhill when I saw the orthodontist Nikita Verma. I was booked in to see Nikita at 12:15pm, I came early but she did not come out and see me until 12:45pm because she was too busy having a humerus chat with another client. When she finally came out she was RUDE and very unpleasant. She made me feel as if I was taking up too much of her time. She did the ‘consultation’, opened my mouth a looked in for max of 10 secs and said hmm, do you want braces? How the hell am I meant to answer that, I said to her “do I need braces? That’s why I am here, you’re the dentist” she didn’t know what to say, sounded very inexperienced and overall horrible! She spoke really fast and her accent was hard to understand so I had to keep asking her to repeat herself and she was clearly getting aggravated over this. At the end of this, 1 minute “consultation” she took me to the reception to pay for 1 minute of her time and the x-ray that I needed to go to MT ROSKILL to a different dentist to be done, despite being told that all x-rays would be done on site. She charged me $200 - $170 for x-rays $30 for her 1 minute BS. Two days later I went to the Mt Roskill dentist to have the x-rays done, only to realise that they’re all owned by Nikita and her husband. Here again, the ladies were so NASTY and rude. Also very hard to understand with broken English. Did the x-ray and the man at the reception said “okay for the x-ray that will be $120.” I said $120?! He said, yes, that’s how much this particular x-ray costs. I said to him, I have already paid at Guardian and they have charged me $170. At this point the reception man knew he stuffed up and responded to my questions regarding the price with “i don’t know, I can’t say” trying to cover up for the scheming husband and wife duo he works for. So its quite obvious they put their price margin up when “referring” clients to other dentist for there own profit. So to anyone reading the reviews on here, do yourself a favour and steer clear of this place!!!!

Fantastic experience: I had a pleasant time at this dentist. Emma Yang was very considerate and professional. I hate getting fillings so I was dreading having to go get three of them on this occasion. But Emma made sure I was comfortable, stopping every minute or so to make sure I wasn't in pain.

Fantastic experience: Emma Yang! The best dentist I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of work done by multiple dentist in New Zealand and Australia but no one comes close to the quality I’ve had with her, I’m so happy with my experience and have already recommended to all family and friends. The receptionist was super nice aswell, wish I got her name. They’re definitely Guardian Dentals most valuable employees! I cannot recommend enough. Please give them a raise they’re worth it!

Negative experience: Went for a braces check-up, not very satisfied with the service as the doctor, Dr. Nikita did not check my teeth properly and directly gave me the estimate for treatment without proper check-up . It seems she was just interested in knowing how much money can be extracted from me. Charged with consultancy charge of $30 for 1 minute . Very disappointing. Will never recommend anyone.
Fantastic experience: Guardian Dental Care is the superlative dental clinic I am seen in my life best dental clinic in Auckland. They did a little operation on my mouth. It was so very easy. Medicines provided so good just recovered from it within few weeks.

Fantastic experience: I live in Australia but for all my dental treatments, I fly back to Auckland and get it done by Guardian Dental Care. He is expert in her field and her clinic is well equipped with latest equipment's. I do recommend to all my friends to experience themselves.
Negative experience: I went here for a filling and some other stuff. I had an indian lady as the dentist - and a young dental nurse. The dental nurse was great. Really friendly. But the dentist herself was AWFUL. She was bossy to her nurse she was bossy to me and i came out looking like i was in a gang fight, so much blood. And bruising the next day... Owieee :((( She decided to start on amother tooth then decided it might not be the best option once i mentioned i didnt hae enough money for her to be filling every tooth that needed it. But two was fine... But nope. So shes only interested in the money. Bad experience. I left bloodied, bruised, 1/2 drilled into and definitely with a bad mood. Dont go here.

Fantastic experience: The team at Guardian Dental Care were professional and pleasant. The dentist informed me of what he was going to do, listened to my concerns and answered my questions frankly. He was also good at noticing when I was experiencing pain.
Fantastic experience: They got me in quickly and thoroughly explained everything that was happening. Also pointed out cheaper options.
Negative experience: Last month I visit that place. The lady who do the treatment is telling different price for the x-ray of dental and the gal on the counter is charging more. When I ask her why its different then she replied maybe she tell you Groupon price by mistake. But I am charging you actual price.

Negative experience: Not professional service, I did a filling there, then that tooth was broken again in a couple of months, now there is a big hole left. Be careful, they always want to charge more money. It's better to choose a more professional dentist!
Hi Jack, thanks for getting back to us, and although we understand your situation is very unfortunate however there are numerous reasons that may have caused your filling to fail, and even more reason still for the filling to break as you have mentioned. Our Dentists do and recommend the best treatment possible, and please don’t let this incident deter you from seeking further dental treatment with us, we pride ourselves in customer satisfaction.
Fantastic experience: Visited today for consult as I believed I need a lot of work. Had a clean, polish, extraction and xrays which were not expected. I suffer from dentaphobia quite badly and experience anxienty whenever I visit a dentist, this keeps me away from the dentist until it is too late resulting in terrible oral hygiene. The dentist this morning was so very helpful, calming and friendly as too was the assistant. Unlike others i have visited who stare at me in disgust and then roughly probe my mouth despite my obvious distress and anxiety. Negative experience: I have been to this dentist once. They were ok. I had to wait some time for my appointment and was surprised to find no patient was in the room when I was finally called in. A couple of months after visiting I received and email requesting a 5 star rating which would in turn put me in a draw to win a prize- bribes/payment or rewards for 5 star ratings I believe ruins the essence of customer reviews. Next time I would suggest if you want to encourage ratings put anyone who rates you in the draw not just those who give you 5 stars, as this means I can only presume the ratings where you got your 5 stars since the email was sent were entering the draw and not necessarily genuine reviews.
Fantastic experience: Had an amazing experience right from the beginning. Lady at reception is great in providing excellent customer service. Dentist is simply fabulous dealing with my dental issues without any pain. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: Prompt pick up of phone to discuss an emergency appointment in the weekend for a child. Excellent follow up and phone call back to book the child in. Excellent receptionist manner that was appropriate, timely and positive. Great dentist who took time to explain and treat well.

Fantastic experience: I saw Dr Matthews who was fresh to NZ having just arrived from Scotland best dentist I ever been to. Told me I didn't need any fillings done this was 6 months after another dentist had told me I needed 2 fillings at $180 each and I never got any treatment done. Dr Matthews said 2 areas were worn but as they weren't causing pain they didn't need further actions at this stage. I got my teeth cleaned and will be back to see him for a routine check in 6mths. Highly recommended AAA+.

Negative experience: I used my group on vouchers. I bought 2 one for me and 1 as a gift for my husband. Expect to pay a surcharge if you don’t have perfect teeth. My experience was very unpleasant I had a very bossy Indian lady who made me pay a surcharge of $30 which I feel was unfair as I take good care of my teeth. She was quite pushy in the way she recommended I get extra work done on my teeth felt like she was just trying to get extra money. My husband went a couple of days after me and he had a good experience maybe because he had a different dentist he did not pay a surcharge and my teeth are much cleaner then his I feel this is very unfair and guardian dentists need some consistency
Negative experience: I went to this dentist over a year ago. Was told i needed a filling. Went elsewhere. Then i get a call on Friday asking when i want to book in for my filling. I told them i didn't want to book. Then they rang me again on Sunday asking when i wanted to book my filling. I said you already rang me on Friday and i told you i didn't want it. He says i know but you really need this filling and went on to explain how he wanted to save me money, to avoid costs in the future etc etc. Very very pushy. If someone tells you they don't want another appointment don't ring them two days later and harass them to make another appointment

Negative experience: Terrible service and poor hygiene I had an appointment st 430 waited 30 min until 5 pm to have a consultation. The water cup had blood on the side. I asked for the X-rays and the receptionist did not want to print them but assured me that she will email them to me today. Which it never happened. I Do not recommend them.
Hi Ahlam, Thanks for the feedback. I can assure you that our facilities are world class and all codes of practice for sanitation and hygiene are strictly adhered to; cheap plastic water cups are never reused so will never have blood on it. Similarly, while we try to stay on schedule, given the nature of dental work, there may be some delays, and unfortunately on this occasion we may have been experiencing high volumes. With regards to X-Rays, all are digital, and a printout would not be of much use; digital copies via email can be used by your next dentist as well.
Positive experience: They were always professional and courteous. My son's teeth looks amazing and we are very happy. Thank you to all the staff.
Fantastic experience: After an extensive accident in the most brutal sport of ice hockey, I was rushed to the A&E clinic then to an emergency dentist only to be told you'll have to wait until next week as we are booked up .. but I said my jaw is broken . I live opposite manukau mall . So then walked over to guardian dental care . This was on a Sunday morning. They immediately dropped tools and had me on the operating table with mouth open . Im no dentist but how they instantly cured my pain and reassured even of good thoughts takes true professionalism. And put my mind at ease. Over next few visits the cosmetic surgery was brilliant , and the positive staff were second to none! They had me back on the rink doing the most powerful sport I know... Dentistry at it finest so why go anywhere else. .. ❤❤❤❤

Negative experience: Horrible experience. Not professional. Wrong advice trying to make me have unnecessary procedures. The dental assistant did not know what she was doing and was leaning instruments against my lip on top of my teeth so it was hurting. I told her to stop doing that 3 times! The dentist said I needed a tooth extracted plus 2 other fillings. It didn't feel right and went for a second opinion and they said I didn't need any of that done. Would not ever go back and want to warn others if you want to take care of your teeth don't take shortcuts here.
Hi, followed up with the dental assistant on your complaint and given her the feedback. Dental work depends on the x-rays taken so there is no chance of the dentist lying to the patients. Second opinions are usually tricky since the new clinic would always try to contradict what the first practice mentioned and therefore cannot be considered worthy.
Fantastic experience: Would happily travel five hours back to this dentist as I can not recommend highly enough. Best dentist I've ever been to.

Positive experience: I have always hated going to the dentist after being bullied by a nasty dental nurse when I was very young. I have been to Guardian Dental twice and each time I have been made to feel at ease, most of the steps during procedures explained to me (something I've not experienced before and I really like it) and the service was quick and affordable considering what I have been charged elsewhere.

Negative experience: The two receptionist couldn't care less. I'm 4 months pregnant. I filled out the form given to me all in CAPS, ticked that I am pregnant and listed 4 months as well as name address etc. I gave the form the ladies just looked at me said thanks n went on w their conversation. I kept glancing over at them to see whether they were going to look at my form. Nothing. I was sitting their roughly 15mins. I went in and was seen by a different lady she was fine. Checked my teeth n mentioned she was going to do X-rays. One of the receptionist come through helping hand? She was pregnant at the time also. As they were about to get up n get stuff ready for X-ray (my point here) I had to explain I'm pregnant and they were like "oh you're pregnant? We can't do X-ray.." well duh..the receptionist didn't care. I knew that's why I said something, but imagine a pregnant woman not knowing....the two woman are useless. The one visibly pregnant and the other looks like a boy short hair do dressed like a boy. No customer service experience whatsoever. Phone call before going in was so bad. She answers yeah hi? I thought I dialled the wrong number..so I ask is this the dental care in manukau she just answers yes...so I got to the point about what I wanted done etc end of phone call I say in an annoyed voice cool thanks she just hangs up on me. Both should be fired.
Hi Vera, followed up on your complaint. There is no mention on the form scanned in our records that you are pregnant and that is the reason why the dentist was unaware of your pregnancy. If nothing is mentioned on the form, neither the receptionist nor the dentist would be able to assume the patient requirements. There is certainly some mismatch with what you are saying and what the form suggests.

Negative experience: Terrible service and overcharged with $50 for literally less than 1 minute (10 seconds actually looking at my teeth) for no help with inquiring about fast braces. She didn't know what she was talking about and had to ask the receptionist for information she should have known. The facilities were far below average and not well looked after. They don't even deserve the 1 star.
Hi Gwenneth, there is always a consultation charge for braces consult. The dentists are always busy and there is always a charge for their time. We did check with the dentist and got a confirmation that it was not less than a minute consult as you have mentioned.
Fantastic experience: I have had fast braces done here and had an incredibly positive time during my stay, Dr Mauly Modi is a great dentist and always has such a positive attitude to her workplace. I would definitely recommend to get fast braces done with her. Also, the customer service was great from everyone and I felt really welcomed every time I came in to get my braces tightened/adjusted. 5/5.

Negative experience: Highly NOT recommend. BAD experience ever. I went there for teeth scaling and polishing service. The service is just average and I don't not feel they worked in detail. Anyway, the most upseting me most is that the dentist told me "You can swallow it. That is just water " when she just finished the scaling. I was odded. Did she mean I could swallow that dirty thing just scaled out from my teeth??!!! I don't know which planet is she from? I don't understand why they save water so much! They don't give me a chance to rinse my month to spit the dirt or blood out until the very end of the session. I just cannot accept this hygienic standard!!
Hi Ivy, followed up your complaint with the dentist but the dentist is confident that she never asks any of her patients to swallow the plaque and this is never practiced in our clinic. Definitely some miscommunication here.
