Fantastic experience: A great visit to Carlton Dental with Rob the dentist. Very friendly and welcoming staff, transparent with their plans and treatments and were able to fit me in at short notice. As someone who's a very nervous dental patient, the team were very kind and patient throughout the appointment.

Fantastic experience: Whilst doing a tour of NZ I had the misfortune of having a precious root canal getting infected. I had to a tooth pulled (which I feared terribly) it was over before I knew it. Incredible staff, highly recommend this practice. Thank you to all the staff for being kind, supportive and doing an excellent job.

Fantastic experience: I cannot recommend this dental practice enough! I was travelling on holiday and suffered a dental emergency. They were able to see me the same day and sorted me out. The treatment was pain free and one of the best dental experiences I’ve ever had.

Fantastic experience: I was forced to visit Carlton Dental on Boxing Day due to unbelievable pain over xmas, the wait was long, but staff frequently checked on us and kept us informed of the progress of the dentist. Being a emergency dentist a wait was expected. When my turn came I was examined and told I needed an extraction as I had thought, the dentist was amazing, his positive attitude, sense of humor and unbelievable experience and knowledge made the situation alot less stressful than I anticipated. He was extremely fast and efficient. This Dentist was seeing patient after patient like a machine, and on boxing day, when most people would be with friends and family, and with an upbeat attitude. He had my wisdom tooth out in minutes, I wasn't even aware it was out. Dr Rob is a legend..and the staff supporting him were amazing. I spent 2 days in agony avoiding getting my tooth pulled and he solved the issue in minutes. I can't stress enough how good this Dentist was. If only we had more people in the world like the staff at Carlton Dental. Thank you team.

Fantastic experience: After a good tooth turned bad over the Christmas break I was in need of some emergency work, and fast. Went and saw Rob and the team at Calton Dentist and so pleased I did. All were lovely, friendly and compassionate. Rob explained it looked to be a bit of a tricky job but reassured me of what was needed and got on with the job without fuss. Offending tooth gone and a few stitches later and I couldn't be happier. Looking at moving my regular dental work to Rob for future non-urgent work. Highly recommend. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others.

Fantastic experience: I was more than happy with the service and treatment I received from Rob and his staff. I was seen on short notice over the New Year period, and the treatment was done quickly and extremely efficiently. I'm not quite sure how he could receive a 1 STAR from a previous review, it is 5 STAR rating all the way from me. I can't believe the amazing work he did for me, would reccomend him to anyone. Negative experience: Whilst I appreciate being seen at short notice (being the NZDA appointed emergency dentist over the Christmas and New Year period), that is where the positive nature of my experience ends. While perhaps it is just his dry sense of humor, I found the dentist quite rude and condescending. Despite informing him I am in the middle of treatment with my usual dentist and also under the care of the Maxillofacial department at the hospital currently (and having also seen different dentists and endodontists due the complex nature of my oral and dental issues), he proceeded to comment on all of my other teeth making me feel very uncomfortable and self conscious - both with his actions (I.e. touching an area of my mouth that I advised I had just recently had jaw surgery on) and the language used. While I appreciate a thorough dentist, I would have appreciated he listened to me and just addressed the issue I was in for. He did an xray and short consult (I was in for approx 15 minutes). He refused to do a filling restoration on the affected tooth, citing that while it appeared 'dubious' on the xray, it wasn't completely obvious that's where the pain was coming from. Despite me experiencing even more pain in this tooth after him examining/disturbing it. I left the practice in tears, more pain than I went in with, with no treatment and a $120 bill while being told I'm "going to Timaru, not Mongolia - there will be dentists there." Despite it a) being New Years and b) him refusing to do treatment, but implying another dentist would/could- completely unlogical. A really defeating, disappointing experience. I just wanted to be able to enjoy time away with my family and young children over New Years, instead I am now in more pain.

Fantastic experience: Rob was recommended to me by a friend who chanced upon him when Rob was rostered as a weekend emergency dentist. This was several years ago and I have been to him many times now. Rob is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. He is highly experienced, skilled, kind, and reassuring. Today he did a filling on one tooth and then extracted another for me in such a way that I barely noticed the procedure. He may not be the cheapest dentist in town but the quality of his work is second to none.

Fantastic experience: Such an awesome dentist Rob is! After being stuffed around by several dentists I Went in for emergency dental work and due to the nation wide lockdown (covid-19) his practice was one of the very few open that could do the work. I had been referred to him at very short notice and he didn’t muck around. He got in and got it done! Very efficient, fast and done a very good quality job all while making sure I wasn’t in any pain and genuinely caring! He is very understanding with any situation you may be in and he has a very good sense of humour which made all the difference!! Definitely recommend him and his team for any dental treatment! Fantastic experience: A Californian traveling round-the-world when I needed immediate dental care and booked an appointment at Carlton Dental. Got an exam, 2 x-rays, local anaesthetic and tooth extraction, all handled promptly and professionally at reasonable cost. Highly recommended. Many thanks!

Fantastic experience: Rob is an excellent dentist, very professional & he has a great sense of humour. I hadn't been to a dentist for a very long time & ended up needing quite a bit work done on my teeth, which Rob has & is still doing, without giving me too much of a hard time. Lol.

Fantastic experience: Rob has been my dentist for five years now. When all is well, he cleans my teeth and sends me on my way with no drama. When things are not well, he makes himself available, is kind, and deals with the problem straight away. Anyone reading this review should make Rob their dentist.

Fantastic experience: Rob (not Dr.Rob ) is the most amazing dentist I have been to since I have been in NZ. I have been to 5 different dentists (between here and Australia)and he is by far the best. He is honest, helpful and gives you good advice. He is not there to make a quick buck, he provides you with good solid information. He is basically amazing

Fantastic experience: I usually hate visiting the dentist but Rob is the best dentist I've seen in a long time. I went in for a root canal which initially worried me. The whole procedure was entriely painless and Rob talked me through it making it very reassuring what he was doing. Would highly recommend him to others.

Negative experience: We are disappointed with the communication between the dentist and us. We absolutely had no idea that we will be charged that amount of money before we did the service since three of us heard another price which is much more lower than the one we were charged. There were no pre-quoted price at all on the appointment card. After being charged, we did call again and want to be clarified. We wanted to know why under the same ACC, we got the service for free of charge in another dentist and being surcharged $250 in your dentist. This big gap is very hard to explain. However, the conversation was broken in between but there was no follow up call. We had the same service in another dentist before and it was free of charge. However, when it happened again in holiday time, this dentist was closed and we had to find another one. It is very difficult to understand the way the dentist charge for the service they provide here since it looks like there is no standard charge and the rates are very different among dentists. it is highly recommended that the dentist should have better way to communicate with customer. The price is highly recommended to be quoted on appointment card. By the way, if we know about the price in advance, I would definitely not do the service there.

Fantastic experience: I arrived at 315pm on a Friday afternoon with an abcess. Within ten minutes it was drained and I was on my way. Totally professional and straighforward treatment and advice. My flight home to the UK via Singapore was pain free and anxiety free thanks to Dr. Rob. Diolch yn Fawr as they say here in Wales.

Fantastic experience: Doctor Rob is the best dentist that I meet for the whole life. I have bad teeth so for years I tried to treat teeth with many doctors from cheapest students up to ultra-high-end clinics and Rob is best. He can do really everything with your teeth from cleaning to implants and do everything in perfect way. Fantastic experience: Took a punt on this place after seeing there was no reviews, and could not have found a more pleasant little villa. The receptionist was lovely, the dentist was charming, and my teeth were cleaned to a pristine degree in 20 minutes – for $40 less than I paid in Halswell, and by the dentist, no less. Do consider giving them your business, they deserve it.
