Fantastic experience: Sam is a fantastic dentist, he makes the patient relaxed, confident and his dental work is of an extremely high standard. He is funny with a great sense of humour, he relaxes you by his constant banter. I never thought going to the dentist would be such an enjoyable outing. I would definitely recommend Sam at Lunn Dental spa without any hesitation at all

Negative experience: Sam’s work kinda OK! clinic hygiene is not really good and sometimes his attitude towards his dental nurse is very inappropriate !unprofessional! Never again!

Fantastic experience: I have undergone extensive dental treatment with Dr Sam over several years. I have been impressed by his professionalism and his skill as he has worked through many different issues and procedures. He has conscientiously stuck with the task through Covid interruptions and indecision on my part. I applaud his patience, his high standards and his ability to anticipate, plan and complete the whole process with excellence… I am very pleased with the final outcome.

Fantastic experience: Sam has been an oasis of knowledge through my 2-year-long mission to restore my front tooth. I first saw him in 2021 when my original dental crown snapped off - he made time in his schedule and calmly laid out what the (long) process was going to be from here. From the extraction, then implant, and finally the various iterations of the replacement crown, Sam ensured everything was done to the utmost highest standard. I can't recommend him highly enough.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been a client of Sam for over 5 years now. Sam is exceptional at what he does. In the past, I’ve tried to make yearly dental check ups, but always make excuses to avoid them. Teeth are very important. I have made it a priority to see Sam every year, not because I have to, but because I look forward to it. He will always discuss options of taking the least expensive route and still produces the best results. Sam is excellent! I can’t thank him enough :)

Fantastic experience: Sam has been the most incredible, trustworthy, caring and talented dentist I've ever seen. After a terrible run of dentists that have done unnecessary and expensive procedures, it's such a relief to finally find one who isn't seeing me just as a dollar sign. He's worked with me for a long time on a problem tooth, referred me to really amazing specialist and performed literal miracles to ensure I didn't lose my tooth. He's thorough and ensures he knows the whole picture before he does any treatments. He's also very kind by using numbing cream before he injects my gums, which the same can't be said for previous dentists I've had. I would highly recommend him to anyone who's looking for a new dentist! Edited to add that I just went back for a clean and he's done a spectacular job! I'm very happy with the result. (p.s you can't even tell that one of those teeth is a crown!)

Positive experience: Make sure you check the cost carefully in advance. I was planning to do a teeth cleaning but was told that an exam and X-ray are required before the Doctor can do anything else. I wasn't informed about the cost until the doctor finished the procedure and was a bit in shock that it costs $270 (not even a full mouth X-ray). I then checked around and realised that it is quite pricy. I ended up with somewhere else to complete the cleaning and filling at a way better price he quoted and higher standard of equipment and service.

Fantastic experience: Sam is a genius. He's an artist (quite literally). I've been to maybe half a dozen different dentists in NZ over the past 20 years, and Sam's work just makes the others look criminal. He knows exactly what he's doing. He sees and solves problems perfectly, and can patiently and professionally explain all the technical details alongside. Prices are right, too. I recommend this dentist if you intend to keep your teeth.

Fantastic experience: Dr Sam has saved me a world of pain on 2 occassions during the holidays when no one else was available to help. He is a kind and caring dentist that has gone above and beyond what I consider to be 'normal' practice. If I could give more stars, I would.

With nearly 4 years worth of visits and laughs at the dental spa, I now walk away from the dentist with a restored faith in smiling. One because he’ll make you laugh with no gas required and two because of the work that he does. It’s honestly magic.

Fantastic experience: A few years ago Sam did restorative dental work on my front teeth and I've constantly been amazed at the job he and the team have done. He explained the entire procedure to me and reassured me that I would be in good hands. Ever since, I have made sure to recommended my peers to him as I can vouch for the professionalism that is shown in addition to the friendly and calming environment. Many thanks to Sam and his team!

Fantastic experience: We went to Lunn Dental Spa for a tooth extraction and had a great experience. Sam is a great Dentist. He is very welcoming and explains things very well. The prices are standard. Lunn Dental Spa itself is very well kept, clean and tidy. The waiting room inside is nice.

Negative experience: I had a terrible experience at this practice. Not recommended at all. Save your time and money.

Fantastic experience: I was suffering with a bad toothache from past 7 to 8 months, suddenly one day it was so worst that I couldn't even sleep whole night. I consulted Dr. Sam right next day. I had no pain after he removed the infection and did the temporary filling, so after 3 sittings the RCT was completed and I am happy that there is no more pain and all credits goes to Dr. Sam. I highly recommend Lunn Dental Spa for any dental issues.

Fantastic experience: Over a two year period I had extensive work done on my teeth. It involved an implant, bridging crowns, individual crowns and replacement of a denture plate. Dr Sam is a highly skilled and capable dentist who is focused on quality. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work.

Fantastic experience: Great experience and service. Cracked a tooth on Xmas eve. He saw me, fixed me and even called me on Xmas day to see how it was! Recommend!

Negative experience: Had a very bad tooth ache over the weekend, turned out to be a root canal, was quoted $5000 for the whole procedure including cap by Dr Sam. Although service was good, i almost agreed to the quote but decided to soldier through the pain to wait till Monday to get a second opinion and so glad I did as the second quote was for $650 (Full root canal 2 appointments and permanent filling). Yes my second quote excluded a cap, but dentist said my tooth is in good enough condition to not bother with one. Pain-free as I sit here and saved a ton of money!

Fantastic experience: The appointment was straight forward and I was made comfortable with good general conversation. The extraction was painless and done without any hassles. top work and I highly recommend them for any further work.

Fantastic experience: Over 2 years ago I contacted friend and dentist Sam Umaria. At 58 I already had a partial plate. Bad dentistry, sports accidents and mediocre dental hygiene meant my teeth were heavily filled, prone to abscesses and extractions. I was unaware I also had chronic gum disease. I faced the prospect of an upper plate. I did not want to have false teeth. There is only one dentist I trust. Sam is honest and a perfectionist. So he made a plan. I flew from Christchurch and over 2 years he has rebuilt my mouth from the what was there. It hasn't been cheap but now I have a mouth of strong rebuilt teeth, that with good hygiene will last my lifetime. Nona Budd.

Fantastic experience: On new years day, which was day 2 of my 1 month vacation in New Zealand, I broke one of my front tooth. On the morning of the 1st of January at 9AM Dr Umaria could see me. His approach and explanation of what he could do was very clear, he made a strong temporary solution for me that held during my whole vacation by fixing the broken tooth to the neighbor tooth. It was not visible at all and my smile looked like always! When finally at home, my own dentist complimented the solution and professional approach Dr Umaria had chosen. I am very happy I ended up here and can recommend Dr Umaria to everybody.

Fantastic experience: I stumbled upon Sam one weekend about 4 years ago when I was in desperate need of a root canal. I wasn't happy with my dentist at the time so was excited to finally find someone who knew what he was doing after years of average dentistry. Sam has worked diligently ever since correcting all the flaws and failings of others. I would highly recommend him to anyone who asks for a referral.

Negative experience: I have been a client of Lunn Ave Dentist / Dr. Sam for over two years. Sam is a good dentist but some of his treatments are more then controversial. All I want to state here is be careful when you enter in a long tern treatment plan and check very careful if all is necessary and what the final cost will be. I had been warned by others who had not a positive experience with Dr. Sam before, when I started seeing him, but as stated he is a good dentist and I was satisfied with his treatment when I started. Though on the long term I had been lured in for a very costly procedure.

Fantastic experience: Great dentist in Remuera. Dr Sam is an absolute legend. Him and his assistant amori are a great team who do the best jobs. If you ever need a dentist, I highly recommend these guys.

Fantastic experience: The dentist fitted me in the same day I broke my tooth and both the dentist Dr Umaria and the nurse Amore were very caring. I now have a a wonderful crown that matches my natural teeth and I can smile with confidence and no one can tell the difference I also got a night guard for my teeth as I clench at night causing cracks in my teeth. Very forward thinking. Highly recommended

Fantastic experience: Very honest and professional. After being told elsewhere that I was in need of multiple fillings, I went to get a second opinion from Lunn Ave. Turns out my teeth were fine! The dentist was friendly and informative, really knew his stuff. Didn't try to sell me a bunch of products, and told me that coming back only once a year is OK, (not 'you must come back every 6 months' like every other dentist). Highly Recommended.

His stories of living and working all over world kept me entertained for the hours and hours it took to complete a tricky root canal. Fantastic experience: Spotted this office while at the White Cross for a knee injury and just when in for an exam and cleaning. I was extremely impressed with Sam's knowledge and service. He readily explained tools, procedures, and concepts both voluntarily and when I probed further. My teeth look and feel great, and I left with the peace of mind that comes with knowing what my current dental health situation is and what I can expect down the road. Couldn't ask for a better experience.
