Fantastic experience: I have been attending Invercargill City Dentist for many years and my family are also current patients. The service and attention to our needs have always been considered and I can't speak highly enough of their professionalism. This is also correct for our current dentists Andrew and Olivia who are fantastic to deal with and are very caring.

Positive experience: I was seen quickly, Dentist explained what was wrong, prescribed antibiotics and referred me to appropriate specialist for treatment. No complaints.
Negative experience: Hope I could give them 0 stars but that's not an option here. Worst experience ever. We got enrolled here just because there was no available dentist at the that time. And when needed them, they were just calling us in an charging us consultation fees without doing anything.Everytime we went there different dentist attended to us and they do the same examination again and again and when we asked what did the previous dentist told then Dr Andrew says that he knows and he has read the report but he doesn't know what to do. My husband was asked with the tapping procedure that which tooth was paining and my husband being in severe pain he said every single one is paining. The qualified dentist says that I can't treat when you say all of them are paining and knowing that he has read the report and it clearly stated which one was troubling but he kept on saying I don't know what to do. Pathetic service and these people don't know what they are doing.
We are sorry you are unhappy with the care that was provided. You are not a regular patient with us and have only been seen on a casual basis whenever an emergency in the mouth has occurred. Though we try our best to retain the same dentist for your continued care, we sometimes will book you in with a different dentist who can be available to provide you with the earliest possible care, should the urgency arise (with your consent).
As you described, your husband elicited pain on multiple teeth which rendered diagnosis and treatment of his teeth extremely difficult. Further investigation and discussion regarding treatment was required to determine the best course of action. The final decision and judgement for treatment was based on my observation of your husband’s teeth at the time of presentation WITH prior knowledge of the records from the previous dentist who treated your husband’s teeth. A second opinion of the findings was also done with that dentist present in the room at that last appointment. This whole process took a considerable amount of time.
An appointment was provided for the next day to treat the suspect tooth.
We are unsure as to why you have cancelled that booking to treat the pain.
We take great care and consideration to come to the right treatment for all our patient’s oral health. Sometimes the process of investigating and treating may take considerable time and require multiple appointments. We are sorry once again if our level of care does not satisfy you and hope for the best for you and your husband’s wellbeing.
Negative experience: Negatives 20* Partner goes in to get a tooth out and a filling only takes 20min, ruff as guts, super rude couldn't even have a laugh, didn't leave numbing long enough before starting, put that much numbing in face on side is 3 times the normal size. Not happy with the service, the hospital does a better job!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sorry you were not happy with the treatment we provided. I am quite surprise at this negative review as you and your partner left the surgery seemingly happy and satisfied with the treatment I provided. I am unsure as to why you would be unhappy with the amount of time allocated for your partners treatment as that appointment with the associated length of time required would have been known to you when you booked the appointment beforehand. Contrary to your account, quite considerable time was given to allow for the local anaesthetic to take effect as I started working on a different tooth before treating that particular ‘sensitive’ tooth. There are many reasons why the numbing may not ‘work’ and on occasion top ups of the anaesthesia is needed. The feeling of a ‘large face’ is the side effect of anaesthesia. We paused on multiple occasions during the treatment to check on your partner’s wellbeing.
I am once again quite disheartened and disappointed with this review especially considering I waived part of your quoted fee for the treatment out of plain goodwill.
Fantastic experience: Very apprehensive about dentists. Had not been for many years. Visited Invercargill city dentist over the last 2 weeks and highly recommended. All staff including receptionists welcoming and friendly. Had restoration done on teeth with full examination and x-rays. No discomfort , kind and patient. Many thanks see you again soon. Negative experience: I am absolutely disgusted how I was treated more than once at this clinic not only from the receptionist on a different occasion to today but today the dentist made me feel like a criminal! My experience was absolutely terrible and I felt extremely bullied, i was having a hard time considering he numbed more than half my face and the dentist was rude and had no compassion and couldn't of given a toss about how i was feeling, the pricing was outrageous considering I had gone to an emergency dentist a month prior and paid half the amount for the same thing, never again will I set for in the clinic EVER AGAIN. Absolutely appalling I wish I could give it a zero star review
Negative experience: I went here as it was the oncall urgent dentist last week i woke with very horrible pain in a tooth....lucky i was able to get here but saddly it was a horrible time they where very rude and could have fixed my tooth for $350 but saddly i only had $300 i told him this could i please do the $300 and the other 50 the next week it was a hard no the pain was so bad that i couldnt sleep and pain meds where not helping he pretty much told me if i want to keep the tooth come back when i had the full 350 but i couldnt do that with the pain being so bad i didnt even get the chance to ring someone to see if i could lend the extra 50 i felt pressured to make the choice to take the tooth out so i did and i wish i didnt he was rough not enough anaesthic to make me numb to the point i told him and he still tried to pull the tooth he then gave me more got the tooth out and sent me on my way i left in tears wouldnt reccomend at all 3 days on and half my lip keeps going tingly and numb

Negative experience: I am very saddened to write this review as the previous dealings have been better and Peter was an amazing dentist. If I could give it a zero I would. However, the last dentist I saw a few years back was rude remarking on why were my teeth ugly and the way they were so I said I'd rather go elsewhere. Well elsewhere in Invercargill is hard to find. So today I ring after my filling has fallen out and the receptionist was the rudest and nastiest women I have spoken too. She wouldn't book me an appointment and laughed when I said I'm in pain and need it sorted. I told her you realise the amount of bad complaints and she said she doesn't care. Well now I'm stuck and no one to help my tooth. Terrible customer service!
Negative experience: If I could leave a negative star rating I would! Receptionist was rude, sarcastic, argumentative and seemed annoyed she had to take the phone call at all. While trying to arrange a consultation and explain the dental issue she happily spoke over me not allowing a word in edge wise. When i asked to speak to someone else, she not only hung up the phone but upon calling back decided that she was the only person knowledgeable enough to answer any questions i had for the owner of this practice. Despite not being able to provide any of them. Being polite doesnt cost a thing, however this not so gentlewoman clearly needs a refresher on customer service etiquette. Being the front of the business and treating customers with such a sour attitude speaks volumes about the level of professionalism and bed sidemanner of this clinic. ***EDIT*** As a clarification to this owners sharp reply and complete lack of honesty and taking responsibility. I did not demand the owners immediate attention asyou so kindly like to paint me out as a toddler in the midst of a tantrum. I also did infact ask for an estimate (more than once) and not the exact cost. Which your receptionist was unable to give me. Despite having a great time belittling me on the phone due to the fact i couldnt possibly know what I would have to budget to pay on the day of treatment without as much as an estimate. It would be unrealistic of anyone to expect a diagnosis and exact price over the phone so in future if you plan to change the story in your replies at least try and stick closer to the actual facts.

The dentist/owner is unfortunately not always available to immediately respond to every demand to speak to them on the phone, but will get in touch as soon as they are available. Members of staff, including dentists, are also unable to determine definitive diagnosis and treatment on the phone as you requested. We as such cannot offer exact treatment costs, other than estimates of the possible treatment options, which was provided to you on that phone call. We are sorry that you are still dissatisfied with that information but will be happy to arrange a consultation (at the proposed fee) should you wish to get the definitive cost of your treatment. Negative experience: Have never overheard a more appalling phone exchange. Receptionist at this practice needs to be retrained or let go. The sheer sarcasm and attitude this lady expressed towards potential patients is awful. Dehumanizing and degrading. Definitely not the mascot for southern hospitality!

Fantastic experience: My wife had her extraction done by Victor Chang. She had anxiety issues but the dentist took his time and made sure she felt at ease. We had our doubts going in but were really impressed by Victor's skills. Highly recommend.

Negative experience: Phoned to explain I was travelling around the south island in my motorhome and part of my tooth had broken off and was disintegrating. Every dentist I spoke to in Gore were not taking on new patients and at full capacity so suggested I call this one as an emergency patient to avoid further complications as I will be on the road for 3 months. Was met with a stern "well are you in pain cause this is only for patients in pain and we have a hard enough time fitting in our own patients let alone others.". Wow Southern hospitality at its finest. Not!. Thank goodness for a lovely dentist in Balclutha

We would like to apologize for not being able to see you at your earliest convenience. It is unfortunately one of our busiest times in the surgery as we are currently covering for all the emergency dental treatment in the Southland region as part of the “emergency week”.
In a unique system that exists exclusively in the southland region the local practices have banded together to take it in turns to cover for one week of dental emergencies in a concerted effort to provide a service for those in need at short notice. It is that very southern hospitality that has served well to provide a service for countless of peoples not just in the local community but also to visitors near and far.
There are unfortunately moments during emergency week, when we get inundated with requests for help that would make it unrealistic for us to satisfy every demand. At times like that we have to make a hard decision to prioritize our time for those most in need while we try our best to organize a more suitable time for others in less ‘urgent’ need.
Once again we apologize that you are unhappy that you could not be seen earlier but hope you understand why we were unable to see you for treatment on that very same day. We are glad that you have managed to find someone to fix your teeth and wish you safe travels.

Fantastic experience: Due to a toothache we got an appointment in short order and were treated by Peter. He was very thorough with the examination. At first he asked questions about the kind of toothache and then examined the 'culprit' with a mixture of traditional methods and modern technology. He explained us using an X-Ray why it wasn't an inflammation of the root canal and found the reason for the toothache - an open neck of a tooth - and treated it with minimal impact to the tooth.
Fantastic experience: Our dental needs have been looked after by Robin and his team since 2008.In that time we have both had major and age related dental work done,Robin has kept us well informed and cared for us during the process . Fantastic experience: A very efficient and friendly practice. Robin Chen Dentist was able to provide sound advice on choices of dental treatments. I had a tooth implant and a few crowns done and all these dental treatments have been very successful. Highly recommended.

Fantastic experience: The dentist at Robin Chen are all nice, honest, and caring. They put patient needs as priority and not money oriented. The staff are friendly , i always feel like a family. I had bad experience with local dentist the first time i arrived at Invercargill, but i am so gratefull i found my dentist at Robin Chen Dental. The Dentist and staff are working in harmony and make patient feel comfort through all the dental procedure. Dentist always explain to me in detail about what dental procedure tht possible to solve my case and very transparant about the procedure and the price tht cost. Booking appointment is always easy (by phone or email) and not to have to wait for million year ;) and we got the service that was worth the price. Highly Recommend Robin Chen Dental⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
