Dr Wondersmile - Auckland

Negative experience: DO NOT waste your time with this place, WORST experience ever. If I could rate it a 0 I would. Extremely Disappointing and Misleading. I’m writing this review to warn others about my experience with this clinic’s aligner treatment process. I was quoted a price of $1,790 by John, which was clearly advertised and confirmed before any payment. Based on that information, I agreed to proceed with the 3D scan and paid $1,800 in cash. Only after the scan was completed was I told the actual total would be $3,800. More than double the original price. This sudden change came as a complete shock, and had I known the real cost upfront, I would never have agreed to any of it. When I asked for a refund, I faced delays, back-and-forth emails, and excuses. I was eventually told they would only refund $1,696.50, deducting $126.50 for a scan and consultation that I never would’ve agreed to if the real cost had been disclosed earlier. They blamed “standard policy,” but the communication was unclear and misleading from the start. This experience felt dishonest and manipulative. The full cost was only revealed after they had my money, which left me feeling scammed and frustrated, and I don’t want anyone else to go through what I did. Please be careful. Get everything in writing — including a clear breakdown of costs (including potential costs) before you pay anything. In my opinion, this clinic uses deceptive pricing tactics, blindsides with extra costs and hides behind vague policies when called out. I just wish I had read and took advice from previous reviews so I could’ve avoided this. **Update 20/07** I have still not received my refund!! Do your research. Feels very scammy. Just to be clear: the advertisements are NOT the final price (as it states). 0/10 Do not recommend. Take your business elsewhere.

Fantastic experience: *update of my review to help others make decisions. I am on set 15 of aligners and I can see great improvements teeth have shifted noticeably. I have 5 more sets to go so will update on final results. So far I highly recommend Dr Wondersmile, affordable and great service, they are reliable. Their dentist office in Half Moon Bay is very professional. I would recommend getting attachments and IPR for maximum results. I believe it's worth spending little extra for better results. Picked my alligners yesterday and did IPR and attachments. So far 10 stars for Hether, her exceptional clear and express communication- main reason for me choosing them over other suppliers on the market as I read all their reviews and surely they are true. The alligners are very comfortable too and high quality - Made in Germany. So far I highly recommend Dr Wondersmile, will update on final results.

Negative experience: I went for a consult and scan - something about the whole process felt very sales-like. I did not feel reassured that the consultant knew what they were talking about or have any background in dentistry/orthodontics. I also questioned whether the consultant themselves would go for the treatment but they didn't seem trusting of the treatment either which was a marketing fail. Another thing - in order to get a discount on my total treatment I had to leave a 5 star review even though I wouldn't know how well the treatment would go. This straight away made me feel suspicious. Don't trust the 5 star reviews as some of them are likely not from actual patients who went through with the treatment, but instead just the consult. I'll never know how it would've turned out as I ended up doing INVISALIGN and have zero regrets. Remember people you have only one set of teeth so get the treatment you need done right. :)

Negative experience: We have just decided to start treatment for my son so my review is not based on actual treatment of dental alignment. My review is based on the fact that there is no person that is liable for communication, there is only a receptionist there that does not have a phone. We paid a deposit more than 5 weeks ago and haven't heard back. Now since I cannot call I have to physically go back to the city to find out what has happened.

Negative experience: Enquired more than a year ago, which is fine if they’re busy. Then they randomly called me on a week day with no message from what looked like a personal number? Strange. Leave a message first. Then I see I have a bunch of messages on whatsapp! I think it’s strange and very unusual to communicate as a business via WhatsApp. Ask those their preferred contact method. Whatsapp is strange. I found this annoying and scammy. Other reviews suggest this too

Fantastic experience: I had my first appointment to get a 3D scan and was greeted by Zelda who did my scan. She was so lovely and thoroughly explained the process of how this works and what different treatment plan options there are. Just waiting to get my treatment plan and have my trays delivered! Fantastic experience: I’ve been dealing with John via WhatsApp and Zelda at the clinic and both are great. I had a clean and scan, both straight forward and good value for money. Looking forward to progressing with my treatment.

Fantastic experience: 10/08/2024 : 3D scan was easy.. and staff was really friendly.. Update (19/10/2024): Received my aligners today. The kit has all the tools for cleaning and fixing dentures. I am happy . Thanks to Zelda, she has been very responsive to my queries and my journey so far. Will post an update at the end of the course again.

Negative experience: I went for the scan few days ago , paid $126 after that no progress, don’t reply any of my messages and don’t answer my call . Poor customer service. Just wasted my money for the scan

Negative experience: When the Christchurch branch went under in 2022 I lost $5000 worth of services. I was told my only option was to pay for a 3D scan locally or to fly to Auckland at my expense. My self-administered molds were not working (I am not a professional). Wonder Smile should be refunding customers who cannot access the services they paid for. Really not good enough.

Fantastic experience: At first I was skeptical going in, given this place was much cheaper than our labeled dentists. But after the consultation I was really happy with the consult. I had Priya as the consultant. I must say, she sat down patiently with me for two hours and explained everything over and above the alignment treatment. There was no pressure or compulsion to get treatment etc. I would highly recommend getting a $80 scan and then you can decide what's best for you. I might get my veneers down overseas, but this place really opens up ideas to what's best for you.

Negative experience: Dr wondersmile took over wondersmile without letting customers know and apparently deleted info on customers so now instead of being able to order a $49 retainer, I’m being told to drive to the city for another scan which will cost $80 and then pay 280 for one retainer because they didn’t communicate with existing customers before taking over, now no reply from customer service.. not impressed

Positive experience: Update 9/12/22: Dr WonderSmile (Hether) contacted me after my first review. She apologised for the mistakes of WonderSmile and informed me she did have a list of customers that she was supporting. I was on the list by my name was spelt incorrectly so this was probably why I didn't get a follow up. We talked in detail about my issues with WonderSmile and what I was still expecting from them to finish off my treatment. We then arranged a scan, which was done this week. Results should take two weeks to come through. Hether explained that they should be able to provide the refinement stages and nighttime retainers. So, fingers crossed we get this sorted and I can move on. She did mention that if there were any other WonderSmile customers in Auckland that have been left in limbo by WonderSmile, to contact her and she should be able to help. ------------------------------------------------------ First post: early December 2022. Please find another aligner provider. Dr WonderSmile is actually the same company as WonderSmile who went under in May 2021 and left all its ASEAN customers in limbo and out of pocket. I'm still waiting for a revised plan and haven't heard back from the global team since August this year. I'm half way through a treatment plan with no nighttime retainers and had to pay extra to get more made from another provider just to keep my teeth in line. The whole process has been emotionally draining. Poor customer service and poor company management with empty promises. Pay more, go elsewhere and know you are getting the best care you can get. Unfortunately with WonderSmile, you get what you pay for and let that be a lesson to all of us.

Negative experience: WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER.WORSE EXPERIENCE EVER. Booked an appointment, the so called 'clinic' is actually in a shared office space in CBD, not even a proper clinic. Waited for OVER 30mins like an idiot in the lobby , there was no reception, and noone answers the phone when I called that I have arrived for my appointment I had to take time off work and pay for parking and petrol to drive all the way Into city for this appointment, and noone was able to see me nor answer me or at least greet me from the lobby? Extremely disappointed and not happy, waste of time. DO NOT waste your time with Wondersmile Auckland. Trust me, you will be disappointed. (Doesnt matter if you try and remove my comments, ill make sure to let everyone around me know what a terrible business/ company you guys are).

Fantastic experience: Consultation was easy to set up, process was explained well and pricing is good. I deposited $500 to get a discount on treatment. Within 10 days later (the time they allow for analyzing your scans) I was informed that I am not eligible (too much crowding = nowhere to move the teeth). My $500 deposit was returned without hassle (it just took a couple weeks, which they advised). Based on the service experience I feel they deserve 5 stars, although I can't comment on the treatment itself. It all seems legit and good value.

Negative experience: Dodgy location and terrible customer service rep. This product only moves the canine teeth not the side and back ones such as Invisalign, hence a quarter of the price. And I was advised I'd have to wear the retainer forever following treatment.

Negative experience: The scanning of your teeth and appointment detailing the process is great. They have brosures and are helpful too. It is much more affordable than traditional braces but with all this being said you would think they would have their shipping documents sorted. I paid the amount in full almost 4 months ago and still haven't received my product! Apparently my order and a number of other peoples orders have been stopped at customs with no clear answer as to how long the orders will remain in limbo. I was excited to start the process but now i have to consider getting a full refund and wasting all that damn time for nothing. So very unprofessional and disappointing.
