Fantastic experience: This was my first experience with a hygienist alone, and probably the best dental related treatment I’ve had. Kelly was so inviting and comforting to see. She provides education and tips between treating, letting you know the why and how’s behind the techniques. I would absolutely recommend Kelly to anyone, especially others that have had poor experiences in the past, or suffer with anxiety around dental treatments. Thank you so much Kelly!!!!

Fantastic experience: I always get anxious at dental appointments but Kelly is so friendly and makes you feel totally at ease. She also did the hand scaling(?) method which meant there were no awful buzzy machines all up in your face which is SO helpful for people with anxiety or sensory issues. Kelly also takes the time to tell you what you are getting right and what tweaks you could make to look after your teeth and gums even better which was super helpful. Teeth look and feel great, have already rebooked :)

Negative experience: I had been going to Kelly every 3-4 months for over 2 years to have dental hygiene appointments. Initially I found the service 5 star with Kelly taking care and time to create a great result whilst offering a painless service. The last few times the time frame of the descaling has been cut considerably short with the last time being 30 minutes for the descaling although I paid for a 60 minute appointment. It felt hurried with Kelly catching the tool in my teeth numerous times along with attempting to pull oversized floss through which was very uncomfortable. I also feel there was a lot of scraping of the teeth, which I haven't experienced before. Kelly then proceeded to coat my very sensitive teeth in fluoride. Two days later after the fluoride coating peeled off I was in a lot of pain. I went to the dentist to be told that there was a lot of gum inflammation, resulting from the descaling, and one of the areas where the floss was stuck chipped away at a filling and will cost $700 to repair. Very disappointing and I would not recommend Kelly.

Fantastic experience: I just had my second appointment with Kelly. I needed two appointments as I had left it so long before dealing with it. This is a result of having experience pain and discomfort in the past. Not with Kelly, I will have no problem going and getting my teeth scaled and cleaned now, she is so gentle and just a really nice lady. Highly recommend to anyone especially if you have a fear of dental work.

Fantastic experience: I highly recommend Kelly as a dental hygienist. She is the best I have been to over the years. Because she does a hand scaling clean it is so less painful than the normal machine scaling. She gives excellent advice on how to take care of your teeth. I've taken this on board and after my recent visit to her for a clean she had noticed an improvement in my gum health.

Negative experience: Kelly was nice the initial clean I had with her was spot on BUT today I called her to let her know I would be unable to attend my follow up due to my ongoing back injury and explained the pain I was in and that I would be unable to sit in the chair and she carried on like a complete Karen (Which I was surprised about) By the end of the phone call I felt like not only had I done her such an injustice because now she had an hour free (Even though she explained there was a late cancellation fee which I was more than happy to pay) but that I was in the wrong! Quote "You could have called yesterday and I could have filled the spot, I have a long waiting list" My goodness I'm sorry that the first thing I didn't think of when my back started going south yesterday was "Shucks I really should ring the hygienist" Meanwhile I'm bent like a pretzel and cannot even stand straight but sure.. Noted. Next time someone genuinely cannot turn up SHORT notice or not, if they're willing to pay the fee and reschedule once they're feeling better try being less money orientated and more human when interacting in these situations.

Fantastic experience: So where do I start? OMG! Kelly is friggen incredible. I just had 2 x 1 hour sessions to scale/clean my teeth. I had this done by a DENTIST about 6 years ago and it was horrific. The pain even with anesthetic was a 15 out 10! Recently, I was told about Kelly at Better Smiles in Papanui. Kelly promised a pain free, anesthetic free experience. And thats exactly what I got. My teeth were thoroughly inspected and documented, scrapped clean of tartar build up (something you can't do yourself). I did not feel any pain. I also learned a lot about maintaining excellent oral health from her. Kelly loves what shes does and seems to have a technique that only a master of her profession could have. Oh and I'll say it again - 100% pain free with no drugs! Amazing!

Fantastic experience: I had put off having my teeth cleaned for 8+ years for many reasons but mostly as I felt it would hurt and the thought of the ‘machine’ filled me with anxiety. I am so proud to say I went and it was amazing. Not quite enjoyable but nothing like what I imagined. Kelly is encouraging and supportive and explained her technique carefully. I was the most relaxed I have ever been in a dental chair and have booked my next appointment and won’t hesitate to go back or recommend Kelly.
